  1. Radatz was the best I have seen the Sox ever had, but wore his arm out by throwing so many innings in a short period of time. I believe he struck out Mickey Mantle something like 47 out of 63 AB.
  2. I think it was already agreed that Mookie would be resigning, but I think you’re right that the Sox weren’t in a good position of getting back any prize prospects.
  3. I said at the time of the Mookie trade that Bloom should have gotten some pitching in return, and as time goes along he looks like he got less, and less in return, and no pitching.
  4. The key word is prospects. Prospects who have never played an inning for the Red Sox, and may never will, and at the moment not much help at all for 2022.
  5. I can just see this bullpen getting worse, and worse even if they were good just by the over use of having to pitch 5+ innings game after game, and just wearing down. You can only slog for so long.
  6. Maybe sweeten the pot a little with two other of Bloom’s prizes Jeter, and Wong, and even then it might not be enough. You didn’t just say reliever you said shut down reliever. Big difference.
  7. I think he is only worth starting, because Kike, and JBJ can’t hit 200 at the moment. I don’t think Duran would be otherwise.
  8. It wouldn’t be such a big deal if the offense wasn’t this bad, but it is, and all things are magnified, because of the record , and how the losses has occurred.
  9. Either way when Bloom did know he did nothing.
  10. And that has gotten you a 7-11 record. I don’t think Duran is a butcher in the OF, so much that he can’t play.
  11. Duran can’t crack an OF with 2 guys batting below 200, but could fetch a good reliever in a trade? You can go with that, but I doubt it could happen. I know he’s not as good as Kike, and JBJ on D,but what is that lineup getting you at the moment?
  12. Pat your self on the back for getting it right, and for BASHING Bloom.
  13. I agree that the Red Sox would be better off right now if Houck, and Whitlock had both been in the pen from day one, but Sale going down did change things. Once Sale did go down though Bloom still had time to get another starter, before the season started, and he didn’t do it. As for Duran I don’t think he is going to fetch any shut down reliever at least by himself. Nowhere to play Duran in Boston right now? Kike and JBJ certainly haven’t hit well enough to lock down any position, so Duran couldn’t be any worse.
  14. This all adds up to a 7-11 record.
  15. It also doesn’t change the fact that the Red Sox don’t have a closer that has cost the Red Sox games.
  16. And BLOOM is to blame for putting it together.
  17. Thanks to Bloom there aren’t many other options.
  18. I’ve said since before the season started that if Barnes can’t be the closer like he used to be than Whitlock should be the closer, and I think that Whitlock being the closer now is as obvious as it can get. Stop playing around, and put him there. Would the Sox be better than 7-11 right now if Whitlock had been the closer since day one? I keep saying it’s a waste not to pitch Whitlock 3-4 times a week than to just pitch him 1-2 times a week.
  19. Diekman said he didn’t give 2 blankity blanks about being the closer after he struck out the side against the Yankees earlier in the season. I guess he really meant it.
  20. This is why I say Whitlock has to be the closer.
  21. S T R E A K M A N! Giveth away.
  22. The game has changed, but I don’t believe changed for the better.
  23. That to me that would have been the least likely possibility. Like Tony Mas just said just another example of over managing, because of the metrics of baseball, and I don’t think it’s any more, or any less than that.
  24. Might as well call Arroyo a starter with all the days off the Sox have been giving the players 18 games into the season. Seems like Story gets a day off every series.
  25. I’ll repeat again I would have left him in. We saw the results of taking him out, but we’ll never know what would have happened by leaving him in.
