  1. Detroit has a GM opening. How about a Bloom for PROSPECTS trade? Just asking.
  2. Well said, and I’m gone.
  3. Last place in Div, and last Wild Card spot standings up date. 4 games back in the L column in the Div, and 5 games back in the L column for last Wild Card spot. 1 game at a time, and Let’s Go Sox!
  4. I believe it hasn’t been said that the BP was the Major Reason the team got off so slowly, but only that the team would have a better record with a reliable closer in the beginning, and also the team lead the league in blown saves for some time. Putting Houck as the closer, and putting Whitlock back in the pen, and the emergence of Schreiber has made the back end of the pen the best it’s been all season, and was big in just taking 2 from the Yankees with Whitlock being the anchor.
  5. I agree with you on all of this, but what about the record when they were either tied, or had the lead in the 8th inning on in those games?
  6. You can blame the 10-19 start on the offense all you want, and they were a big part of the blame, but how do you account for all the blown leads that the Red Sox had in those early games, and leading the league in blown saves. Now you can blame the offense for not getting big enough leads, but you can’t blame the offense for blowing the leads that they did have., and that was on the back end of the bullpen, or lack of. Blowing saves mean they did have a lead that they lost. To me Bloom’s fault for not adequately stocking the bullpen.
  7. This I will agree with. I thought JD had at least 1 more 80-90 RBI year left in him, and I was all for not trading him in the off season. In hindsight that was a bad decision.
  8. Very true on Barnes.
  9. It just looks, and feels different to me small sample size, or not. The D looks better, and the pitching overall looks better. Now if only the offense could get cranking. Hopefully Raffy is out of his funk, and Kike back tomorrow will improve the D even more.
  10. Did the weekend play against the Yankees , which was a good representation of good play show what could have been, and should have been now with a good defensive 1B, which I believe has solidified the infield D, a good veteran OF has stabilized the OF somewhat although getting Kike back in CF should make it even better. Also having a stable backend of the BP has made a big difference with even Barnes making a contribution this WE. Whitlock was huge in both Wins, which wouldn’t have happened early in the season. Is it frustrating that this didn’t happen earlier in the season?
  11. He’ll be 35 to start next season, so I think a backup would be a better option.
  12. To me I think how you would use Whitlock most importantly would be on what the rest of the pitching staff looks like. I think most GM’s, and managers would see the importance of having a reliable back end of the BP, and what the biggest need was for the team at the time, which I think was overlooked by the Sox to start the season. I think the Red Sox would have a better record today if Whitlock, Houck, and Schreiber had been in the back end of the BP from opening day.
  13. Thanks for the input, and like I have said, but for some it’s just hard to agree to disagree especially when it comes to having different opinions, and it shouldn’t be that way. Yes I’ll go with Eck’s opinion too, and not just, because we agree. He knows more than I do, and I admit it.
  14. Max, if you think Eck, and I are by ourselves then that tells me you don’t get off here much, or at all, but that’s ok. I don’t know what the fascination is with the word idiot, but I never called Cora that, or think he is. Now I don’t think Cora is as good of a manager as lots of people think, but I like Cora.
  15. Max, I fully understand I’m in the minority on the usage of Whitlock on here, but that doesn’t change my opinion, or the many others who agree with me, but for the sake of not beating this subject to death you win. Congratulations.
  16. I don’t think the paying fans would either, or would have liked a fire sale. I’m sure they would rather watch more of Bogey, JD, and Evol than more of Duran, Franchy, and DHern.
  17. Well I’m sorry to you if I’m so oblivious. I guess it’s a major blemish I have. Thankfully there are many who have the same blemish, but just not on here, but that’s OK I’ll take the criticism.
  18. This would have made the most sense. I don’t believe Houck, or Whitlock we’re planned for the rotation if Frail hadn’t gotten hurt, or one of the planned starters didn’t pan out. Houck was the first choice to start, and not Whitlock.
  19. Max, take it easy the Sox just took 2 games from the Yankees, so don’t worry, and be happy.
  20. My opinion has never been about Whitlock’s stuff, or if he could be good in the rotation, but only at this time I think he’s more valuable in the BP.
  21. Eck is disregarding context? Wow! Like I said I’ll go with Eck’s expertise, and opinion. I would not have called out anybody if the Yankees had scored in the 8th, because Whitlock had thrown 2 innings on Friday, and wouldn’t have been available to throw 2 innings last night, but thanks for thinking I would have. Schreiber pitched two innings with a game off in between, and struggled though the second time. We have different opinions, but I’ll stick with Eck.
  22. Looks like a rough start for a new HC with a new starting QB, and a real tough schedule starting at Ohio State for Norte Dame. ND is starting the season #5, but I don’t see them finishing in the top 10 this year.
  23. Agree to disagree it is.
  24. Max, don’t worry, and be happy with a Red Sox win over the Yankees no less. I’ll go with Eck’s opinion though, but thanks. Go Sox!
  25. Bogey was asked by a reporter, but was Bogey ever asked by Cora, or the ball club to move to another position? Just asking.
