  1. Last place in the Div, and last Wild Card spot standings update. Finally back to 500. 3 games back in the L column to get out of last place in the Div, and sitting at the Kiddie table, and 5 games back in the L column for the last Wild Card spot. Things have tightened up, but going to have to beat the Div teams starting Friday to get them tighter. 1 game at a time, and Let’s Go Sox!
  2. Soto will be the next young big risk.
  3. Bloom did do a very nice job with Whitlock that I’ll admit.
  4. Big ouch yes. Trout hasn’t made the Angels any better, and Washington won a WS after letting Harper leave. I’ve said many times that I’m against $300M contracts no matter who it is, but if you want to keep up with the Joneses I guess you have to do it. If will be interesting to see how Atlanta turns out with locking up their young talent.
  5. I know we have beaten this subject to death, and it doesn’t seem to want to go away. I think everyone has their opinions set pretty much in stone, and it isn’t going to be changed, and I’m not going to try, but on two different other venues it was said this week that the biggest mistake the Red Sox made this season was putting Whitlock in the starting rotation, and I think Eck agrees too. Once again I’m just putting this out is to show what’s out in other parts of Red Sox Nation.
  6. No one knows for sure what would have happened if the Sox would have offered Mookie more the first time just like no one knows what would have happened if they would have made an offer to Raffy 3 years ago. What we do know now is that Raffy’s value has gone up every year, and now it will cost a lot more to sign him. Atlanta apparently has figured this out, and Boston hasn’t.
  7. I agree, but now it’s way to late to do it with Raffy.
  8. You’re right all it takes is one to set the market higher than anyone else wants to take it, which is the only way I would see Judge leaving the Yankees.
  9. And Schreiber had to be brought into the game when he really needed the rest.
  10. Well said, and nothing less than a sweep will be a lost opportunity. Pittsburg would have fit in with the fantasy month of June opposition.
  11. $300M to me is not a lowball offer to anybody. Lester was a lowball offer, and what Bloom offered Bogey, and Raffy before the season was lowball.
  12. Max, don’t worry, and be happy. I think the subject was being booed, and not if he was cheered. Two different things, but the FACT remains Barnes was not booed off the mound at Fenway.
  13. I don’t know what is meant by shallow fans, but to say if Judge is lost, and the money is spent elsewhere the loss won’t be that great. How do you know that?. Just, because you have money to spend doesn’t mean that Judge could be replaced, and the team would be better. Are the Red Sox better by losing Betts? I think it’s not a given that because you have money to spend the team like the Yankees, or Red Sox will be better. I’m not saying it won’t happen, but it’s far from a given that it will. Betts, Judge, Bogey, and Raffy are hard players to replace no matter how much money you have to spend.
  14. Why would Barnes been booed if the game had been at Fenway? I didn’t hear Barnes getting booed off the mound in the recent HS against the O’s, or Yankees.
  15. I think the pitching has held up pretty well considering all the injuries they have had to deal with, and using the Worcester starting rotation for part of the season. The backend of the BP is the best it’s been all year.
  16. It would have been good too if Schreiber didn’t have to pitch last night, and could have used another day off, but Davis spit the bit.
  17. Did anyone say if Whitlock was available last night? He pitched 2 innings Friday, and 1 inning Sun, so I figured Cora wanted to rest him.
  18. The Braves locked up more young talent, and now have their nucleus locked up for some time. How come the Red Sox didn’t do that with Raffy? You should’ve been able to tell say 4 years ago that he was going to be a good player, and the fact that the Red Sox wasn’t pro active like the Braves is now going to cost them lots more money if they sign him at all.
  19. If Whitlock had been available, and Barnes had been brought in , and blown the game I don’t see how that wouldn’t be viewed as a BAD managerial decision. I wouldn’t go so far as to call him an idiot though.
  20. After Pittsburg the Red Sox play the next 12 games against teams in Wild Card contention with 9 against Div teams. Anything less than 8-4, and season is over, and I don’t see the Red Sox going on any kind of run unless all of a sudden the bats come alive.
  21. Gone in the crapper just like the Yankees who have only scored 8 runs in the last 7 games. You
  22. Barnes has looked better lately, and it couldn’t have come at a better time with Houck looks like being out for some time, and Whitlock, and Schreiber both been worked hard the last few weeks. Don’t know if Barnes can keep it up, but will be huge if he can.
  23. Let’s not leave Raffy’s bat out either that has really slowed down.
  24. Last place in the Div, and last wild card spot standing up date. O’s are holding tough, so 4 games back in the L column for the Div, and 5 games back in the L column for the last wild card spot. Lots of traffic to get through, but 1 game at a time, and Let’s Go Sox!
  25. JH make the call.
