  1. 4-5, and 2 steps back. 4 games from 500 5 games from getting out of last place in the Div. Bring on the big boys, but time is running out.
  2. Bottom line this team is a losing team with a LOSING RECORD, and it doesn’t really matter which position they would end up in. Not good no matter how you slice, and dice it.
  3. I have said all along $165M/6 starting at $25M, and increasing each year to $30M.
  4. I wouldn’t put Whitlock in the same class as Bogey, and Raffy.
  5. When all came out it seems like there was some missed communication with the agent.
  6. $1M more than Story? You think that’s all he’s worth more to the organization? A 2 time champion in BOSTON just to name one, and a big one at that.
  7. It seems Atlanta doesn’t have any problems.
  8. Agree, but what’s the hold up, and the same with Raffy. Both of these should have been decided already. Think the Yankees now wish they would have signed Judge sooner. The longer you wait the more you pay.
  9. Sam Kennedy met with Bogey recently, and talked up Bogey on what kind of leader he is, and what he means to the organization, and Bloom recently has talked about the same thing. Do you think this is all PR to get ahead of things if things don’t workout on resigning Bogey? The actions, and so called contract offer before the season speaks louder than the recent talking up of Bogey?
  10. I know people get carried away on game threads, so I’m not so sure how it was meant.
  11. I think you go to deep in my value of Kike. You know I like Bogey, but if the Sox announced today that they had signed him to a 6/$180M contract I would say that is to high, and he’s not worth that much money. I call it as I see it, and not how much I like a player, or not. I have said Kike is a good defensive CF more than once, and said he is good at other positions, so I wouldn’t say that is exactly throwing shade on him.
  12. I agree. JD was coming off a 99 RBI year, and would have been more desirable then then at the trade deadline, but I think his salary would have scared some teams away.
  13. I haven’t heard Kike’s come up much, or at all outside of here, and if I’m having a different opinion on Kike is going out of my way to say I think he is not worth the $10M then I guess I’m guilty.Of course that works both ways for the ones who are saying he is worth it. I may be in the minority on the subject on here, but it’s just an opinion both ways.
  14. Someone on here during a game thread during the postseason said that Flintstone Schwaber should be given a lifetime contract. I remember it well, and commented about it at the time that I thought that was way overboard just like the ovation he got for making a routine play at 1B.
  15. Bogey would have had to been traded before his 7th full year, so that wouldn’t have been a fire sale, or if it happened before this season even started. I didn’t want to give up the ship this August.
  16. I’m always for trading guys if you can’t sign them, and that goes for Raffy too. I would have to see what the trade was to know if I would like it, or not. Yes there would have been complaints about Bogey being traded, but I think there will be more if he is not resigned depending on the offer, and the asking price.
  17. I was talking about the bigger money contracts, but yes they have done something about it, so now we see if it was a good signing, or not.
  18. I agree for the most part, but not always. A bad contract can result in longevity on a team, because of that contract, and not , because they are better.
  19. I get your point about Kike, and always have, but I just don’t value him as highly as you do. You see him one way, and I see him another. I’m not saying I’m right, and I’m not saying your wrong, but we just disagree. If Duran would have worked out in the field, and with the bat he would have been in the plans for CF next year, and not Kike, so I think depending on what the plan is with Dugy they would have signed a corner OF instead of Kike. Duran would have been a cheap fix, but he sucks.
  20. I guess it depends what the rest of the team looks like, but with so many holes to fill probably not. The Red Sox have though relied on the DH for production for quite a few years though.
  21. I agree, but now you’ve got all these expiring contracts, and aren’t going to get much, or anything for them when they go out the door except salary relief, which I guess is something.
  22. And it’s going to take a pile of money to put Humpty Dumpty back together again is it not?
  23. I was as long as JD was still on the team, because I thought they could get 1 more productive year out of him, so yes I was wrong on that, but didn’t you say Schwaber would have been to much money for what he signed for with Philly?
  24. I’m not trying to change your mind, but I think you’re trying to change mine. We disagree, and that is not going to change. I get all the points made about Kike, but I just don’t see it as you, and others do.
