  1. Interesting yes. Sensical distinction also yes. I remember it well.
  2. What does that have to do with what WL records made the playoffs, or not? You still haven’t answered the question on how many more times would the Red Sox have made the playoffs if the setup had been the same back then as it is today?
  3. Exactly, and I asked that same question weeks ago if the offense could keep the pace to offset the starting pitching, which was bad at the time.
  4. See we agree.
  5. I said 1967 was the start with the key word being the start. Who coined it, and when is another story, but 1967 was the start.
  6. That may have helped the record be what it was, but did they have all the Wildcard stuff going on back in 1967, and if they did how many more Red Sox teams would have made the playoffs if they did? 1972, and 1978 are easy examples.
  7. As usual you see things as you want to, and I’ll see things as I want to, and I’ll stand by 1967 was the start.
  8. Luxary tax had NOTHING to do with with the WL record not making the playoffs, which is what the discussion is about.
  9. You think not having all the wildcard setups that they have today had something to do with that? 1978 being a good example.
  10. 1967 was the turn around, the Creation of the Nation, and seeing Fenway being filled on pretty much a nightly basis. No matter how you slice it, and dice it 1967 started it all. It being a creation of current ownership is nothing but fake news.
  11. The Red Sox have had 11 losing seasons since 1967. 12 if you want to count this year already, and that would be 3 in 4 years under Bloom, and 5, or 6 since Henry took over.
  12. Wrong again! Red Sox Nation started in 1967.
  13. Yes that’s just my opinion, but I bet if you put the vote out there in all of Red Sox. Nation that would be the overwhelming opinion.
  14. I’m sure John Henry wants Bloom to put together a losing, last place in the Div team, and a team that doesn’t make the postseason, so if he was hired to create a sustainable contender it must be a contender for last place, and that’s he’s successful.
  15. Not with Bloom in charge.
  16. Tampa is not a Big Market club like the Boston Red Sox, or in any shape like the Red Sox at all. They are a better team though. Suspects, suspects, suspects is the answer to everything as I’ve been told so many times on here, and that is nothing, but a lot of wishful think that they will get the Red Sox back to respectability again instead of being a laughingstock.
  17. No! Like I’ve said before a Big Market club like the Red Sox Should Not have any prolonged sub-500 rebuilds. Even 1 year is 1 year to many.
  18. How about a standings update. A losing record, and last in the Div by 4 games. No need to go any further than that.
  19. If Henry anticipated a prolonged sub-500 rebuild, and is OK with it then he should sell. Oh the old suspects on the farm thing. Higher ranking does not necessarily translate to success for the big club, and the Red Sox are an example of that. This is the Boston Red Sox a big market once storied franchise that if someone in charge knows what they are doing shouldn’t have any rebuilding years. One year is too many. The old John Henry wouldn’t have put up with this for this long, and I believe most fans in Red Sox Nation now have had enough of him, and his lackey Bloom no matter how many championships the Red Sox have won since he bought the team.
  20. Chang who was supposed to have come back yesterday has suffered a setback, so it looks like Kike at SS lives on.
  21. That’s Bloom’s standing operational procedure pretty much.
  22. If it is so bad at the trade deadline that the Red Sox are sellers, and not buyers then Bloom should be the first one to go, and maybe Cora too. To keep playing Kike at SS I don’t believe is Bloom’s idea.
  23. Not in year 1, or year 2, but year 4.
  24. Good trade for Red Sox. Bad trade for Tampa.
  25. If the Red Sox come back, and win great, but if they don’t the two errors were certainly huge, but not scoring in the first inning with bases loaded, and no outs was also big.
