  1. Add analytics, and the eye test together, and it’s even worse. Casas doesn’t even have the proper footwork at 1B taking throws, so I don’t see him getting much better.
  2. Pitches not only threw a lot more innings, but a lot more pitches with less time between starts. It doesn’t seem there was anywhere near as many arm problems back in the old days.
  3. Definitely not Casas, or Raffy, so if anyone I guess it would be Yoshida. Everyone is speculating on here that Raffy could just move over to 1B, and he would be better, but that is not a certainty. Either way it’s not in Bloom’s DNA to trade any of them. They are what they are.
  4. I don’t know about other countries, but i don’t think as many kids are playing baseball as much today in this one.
  5. More pitching is definitely an answer. Seems like we’ve gone through 10-15 starters the last two years each.
  6. You got me, but you know what I meant. Bloom made the mess. Everyone talks on here about how bad the D is, and rightfully so, and Cora agrees too. Bloom just doesn’t seem to care.
  7. 4. Look for 3rd option in the fork in the road. Two years now, and still hasn’t found it. I do agree though that doing nothing is the worst option, and like I keep saying too you shouldn’t have to pay Top dollar to watch any kind of rebuild. I believe a good front office should be able to somewhat go for it, and build too, but Bloom can’t seem to do that.
  8. You really want me to answer this. I would get rid of someone who wouldn’t have made this mess on D in the first place. I’ll say again. Casas, Raffy, and Yoshida will all be manning their positions next year for the Red Sox. The only if will be where Yoshida will reside depending on Turner.
  9. Pitching, pitching, and more pitching (starting rotation). Seems like I’ve heard we’ve needed that for years.
  10. Agree, and like I’ve said the last two years if you are not in it to win it then why play at all. If you are not willing to roll the dice then take your money, and go home. Are the fans paying top dollar for nothing?
  11. I think the BP for the most part is what’s held this team somewhat together this year. Definitely not the lumber. Slammies, and 3R HR has looked good lately though.
  12. Only giddy, because some want to trade Yoshida already. I bet that is #1 on Bloom’s to do list this off season.
  13. Is this like a blank check that Bloom never cashed?
  14. Wow! After just one year some want to make drastic changes.
  15. Oh no say it ain’t so. GOshida has turned into NOshida again. No bat, and no glove.
  16. Cora has talked about bad defense pretty much all year, and doesn’t like it, so to him I’m pretty sure it’s not overrated.
  17. Turner is resting his sore puppies.
  18. Story Land was closed a lot last year, but when he was open he was pretty good, which I expect he will be at some point this year.
  19. Wow! 101 pitches in only 4 innings. That’s good for Paxton’s old soup bone.
  20. I’ve already answered that. I don’t have an an exact time frame, and this discussion I don’t think can be answered by any analytics, because of the different eras. Was the steroid era better HR hitters? Could Drysdale, Koufax, Marachial, and Gibby be as good today? Would Hank hit 700 HR playing today. Could the A’s of the early 70’s win 3 titles in a row today, and would Cincinnati be the Big Red Machine today. Could the 2004, and 2018 Red Sox win in 1975? All could be yes, some, or no.
  21. I can’t give an exact date, or time, and like I’ve said before it’s not just baseball to me.
  22. 2003-2008 were good Red Sox teams no doubt.
  23. You can if you’d like, and then compare against the competition. How about if we put all the stats in a computer like the 1975 team vs the 2018 team, and see what it spits out like they did years ago with all the great boxes of all time.
