  1. Thornburg is a stud with 2 outs. Walk and triple for yet another run. He's a hack right now.
  2. Workman's obligatory HR
  3. Glad someone can identify hyperbolic absurdities when they see it. The Sox will not fail to win the WS because of pitching. It will be due to Mookie's 2 month slump.
  4. You can see the trend: No reported blowouts in March nor April. One in May and June. Now 2 each in July and August with time left. September trending to be a real disaster with 4 blowout losses. This cannot be allowed to continue, so do something, anything , Alex, like make Farrell the pitching coach again. That got us a WS win and later again as manager, so that's trending well.
  5. Our pitchers have the serial killer deep stare and the Rays throwers are all Boy Scouts, just learning to shave.
  6. In a bullpen game, the Rays call him the Opener. Meanwhile Beeks picks up 2 W's in 6 days against the team for which he could not be developed for as a pitcher. meanwhile EO needs to figure himself out and become effective again.
  7. 3 straight strikes go right over the top of Benetendi's dipping bat. He drops down and underswings too often.
  8. Cy shut down the end of the second and will now go for a few more innings. The latest Red Sox killer. How ironic.
  9. Those Rays uniforms and caps are the only things uglier than the Trop itself. Oh yeah, and the Red Sox first inning hitters.
  10. With a look forward as well as back, I think Ryan Brasier has been the most unsung pitching surprise . He has worked his way into the 8th inning setup man role. If he can keep up his effectiveness , he could be big help in the playoffs. In the position player unsung role, I will take Eduardo Nunez in a very close call over Brock Holt. Never Nunez to all his haters, he has played virtually full time at two positions where the expected incumbents (Pedroia/ 21 yr old Devers) have not been able to get or stay on the field. No way Eduardo was expected to play a full season hit above .250, 30 XBH and could have 50 rbi's by year end. Brock is doing what we saw Brock do a couple years ago and no question his value but he is playing to what could be expected of him, more so than Nunez.
  11. Hah, Brett Gardner grounds into a DP to secure the Marlins win, and 9 games up by Boston
  12. Brasier making a serious bid for the set up role. Great snag by Moreland saved trouble
  13. As so many , including you, have said the playoffs are a short sample sprint, not the marathon of the season. If the Sox of the prior 3 games showed up, goodbye. If these guys show up , it's WS. Who's hot and who's not in October??
  14. Marlins pounding the Yankee BP. now 9-3. They may be able to hold that one as Yankees are down to 3 outs.
  15. That was so much more 2018 JDM. Got the bat around very quickly Very good to see.
  16. 80-1 record after leading through 8 innings says something pretty good about the BP. And that's with 4 blown saves by Kimbrel. Sox are good at coming back after the lead slipped.
  17. Joe Kelly doing what Joes does. 27 pitches, to get 3 outs , 3 hard hit balls and a 2 out walk. Pitches all over the place. How can you take this guy into the post season. He can't use his 100mph ability, BUT, the result is no run
  18. Marlins add 1 and have runners on 1st/3rd. Doesn't mean much to them.
  19. That would certainly be fair depending on how it ends. I would have laughed if the scorer wound up giving it to Hembree. Johnson has been short started ( for reasons) in more than a couple games. Builds up the BP W's. BP is cumulatively 20-8 not counting Pom's results.
  20. Check my call from this A.M.
  21. 5-3 Marlins in bottom 7. 6 outs for NYY. They lost Gregorious and Chapman to DL overnight. Still shaping up as one of the WC's, maybe with the full lineup back. Almost 40 days to a play-in game.
  22. Amazing how much better the outcome is when the bottom of the lineup strings a few hits together and you get 3 HR's. Cures a lot of ills quickly.
  23. That's ok pardner. I wanted to replace Mitch's sorry ass with Pearce earlier.
  24. Agree, he actually may need the work just to stay sharp. No telling what tomorrow brings
  25. OK, I don't believe Johnson can get the win because he didn't go 5 . Does Hembree get it ? If Johnson replaced a starter for whatever reason after one batter, I think he would get the win.
