  1. Your earlier comment here or another thread is quite appropriate: How about looking at the players , their efforts and performances. Managers , coaches, analysts and FO's do not win nor lose games once the action begins. They can influence putting players in certain positions, including the mound, but the player still needs to execute.
  2. Went there Monday and saw no rats except the pretenders in the visitors dugout.
  3. Half the entire season but I am sure someone will say it is still early, not even the A-S game , plus we have all these young studs coming up to help. You are seeing some deep level incompetence from FO through the end of the pine bench
  4. Good defense is the hallmark of a winning team . Does hitting and pitching make a difference ? Only in an alternate universe, the Bizzaro world of Red Sox fans
  5. Losing 2 series over a couple of weeks to the Angels is the mark of this bunch of low ability Red Sox Unbelievably bad performance
  6. So there you go, a 2 HR game from a .170 hitter and another 1 run loss. Hate to concede it to Max, but it may just be the pitching. However, they also failed to hit. What an awful team, Breslow
  7. If 37 year old retread Justin Wilson holds ths 1 run lead with a man on second, then kudos to him. BUT, otherwise, i agree with Max that pitching is the problem with these extra inning , one run losses. You can only lose with a pitcher in your lineup.
  8. I did publish earlier that Mayer , of all the rookies , looked the most ready to play intelligently, and he comes through. Hamilton is a marginal guy at best . He bunted last night but can't tonight. Now you will be looking at Wilson to win this one. Sure hope so
  9. As Chapman showed, except for his fielding, that pitching is the least of the Sox problems, well, except for Weissert too.
  10. Why do pitchers try to field their position. For the same reason Max thinks it is the pitching that holds back the 2025 Red Sox
  11. No, i demonstrated you are an idiot. I said nothing about Mayer except he tried to outguess a very hittable pitch. You are the loser here, Max
  12. Winning would only encourage them to continue doing the same old things that causes them to lose. If you get my drift
  13. Story did have a line drive HR last night which mattered not. But he also K'ed with the bases loaded. Tonight he pops up the first pitch from Jansen, who is predictably, semi-wild. The problem is the HITTING.
  14. No , I am critiquing you for thinking the problem is pitching. IT is hitting
  15. For the Angels mediocre is a step up for the last 10 years. For the Sox it is a major step down. Keep in mind the Red Sox have not finished a season or will go to bed tonight with a winning % over .500, unless they get lucky and win this game, in 3.5 years. Yes it is 1/2 season ! Where is the growth ? Looks like the sign: " Free beer Tomorrow"
  16. Did not take Weissert long to blow Crochets efforts due to NO hitting, Max. Forget your fixation on pitching unless it is by the relievers. A .160 hitter took Weissert out min the 8th This is truly a sick team.
  17. Bachman Turner in overdrive vs Abreu Keep in mind Neto was a total mess when he came up , now a A-S sub possibly. Just have to wait on our guys to grow up in the Show. Or trade a few, take your pick
  18. One thought on defensive positioning: opponents seem to know exactly where to be vs Sox, but Sox defenders should ALWAYS move at least one step or two to the oppo side from what their little index cards show
  19. One run vs the Angels is a travesty but then so is another .500 season for the BoSox
  20. Duran doubles and the next 2 guys ( Story/Rafaela) hit bouncers to left side. Then Mayer, with his 2 hits, thinks too much instead of reacting and takes a perfect STRIKE 3 down the middle. Analytics and pitch guessing could make this team repress every natural instinct they had to get to MLB , and become failures by trying outguess what is coming next. See the ball, hit the ball.
  21. Garrett is saying, I signed a multi-year deal with these weaklings. The maturation of this team as professional ballplayers in MLB is between 2-3 seasons away. I should live so long. JH should not live long enough to see his dream come true. That being the Rays in the WS .
  22. Mayer just seems much more ready and into playing this game than some of his peers . By end of 2025 , he should be established as a key part of the lineup. Narvaez has made himself a #1 catcher. Anthony should get there also by year end. If not, he is a problem needing a solution. Campbell may be a whole different story.
  23. With Crochet pitching and .500 on the bubble at stake, it should be time for our guys to wake up again and focus. That game last night could not have started out any better, up 3-0. But Buehler's inability to find the plate and a somewhat tight HP ump , followed by all kinds of non-mental compos play on the base paths and infield/outfield doomed them. At some point, like last week, it is beyond time to put rookies and vets into a position and lineup slot and let them play to the best of their abilities. The constant shuffling cannot be good for their mindset.
