  1. Would you take Kepler for Benintendi ?? Not if you were the Twins
  2. Erod is truly special. The true #5 in any rotation, he gets leads and promptly equalizes the situation, on a night when he knows his BP is dead meat and he needs to get 7+ innings. Just no improvement nor development over the past couple years
  3. I do think Alex needs to shake the lineup further. Leave Betts at leadoff. Move Beni to 6 or 7, promote Devers to #2, and put Martinez at #5 until he gets his stroke back. Try Bogaerts at #3. I think they would score more runs.
  4. How the heck Beni pulled an outside pitch drifting further out to the 1Bman is a minor feat of hitting that is quite remarkable. He is no #2 batter.
  5. New hitting theory for some Red Sox, let the ball hit you bud
  6. Look at it this way. Jackie Bradley appears to have much improved his pitch recognition and walks twice tonight. If he can do it, well you know
  7. Chavis has a ways to go. The spin on that down/outside breaking ball is recognizable to a pro hitter. That's why JDM is so hard to figure right now. And he knows they will throw it until he stops chasing it.
  8. Only if you are an umpire in MLB
  9. Another awful showing by 1-3 with a chance to wreck Gibson. These 3 are truly failing this team recently
  10. He did, so f*** him too.
  11. Gibson showing the current "book" on JDM
  12. Most LH hitters would hit Beni's last pitch hard to RF. He pops out foul ground to third.
  13. Swinging bunt, good enough for the moment, just not MVP calibre, but Beni will follow up.
  14. How was Betts #3 pitch not ripped ?
  15. the bottom of the order is carrying the top. RISP is the test. Sandy, what you have for us ? Safety squeeze ? Fly ball or tater ?? f*** Sandy chasing breaking balls
  16. I have decided there are enough people questioning Alex Cora's managing and the Pen's effectiveness, so i will focus on the hitters. First, don't tell me we average 5.40+- runs per game or are scoring close to 2018's pace. That stat is skewed by blowout scores and the W-L total isn't as deceptive. Second, how often in this the 75th game of the year, have the trio of Betts/Beni/Martinez started a rally in the first inning, or even worried the oppo pitcher. Not often i suspect. They are weak out of the gate. .263-.840; .268-.773; .291-.909
  17. 0-8 with 5 K's last night. Who would take him, lol ?
  18. Setting any money issues aside , acquiring Encarnacion would have resulted in sending Marco Hernandez back down (probably an OK move), and subsequently DFA'ing Pearce when he is physically ready (also OK). When Moreland then came back, one more would need to go . A pitcher + 1 more when EO returns ? Chavis to AAA ? Nunez DFA'ed (not as long as Cora is managing) ? With both JDM and EE on the roster, DH is full, but it implies one or the other is in the field a lot more to get both bats going. Or you save one as the designated PH'er in late innings when there are RISPs and Leon coming up. The bigger concern is that EE gives the Yankees one more big stick, but they will have to find a place for him too.
  19. There is so much comment on WTF Cora and the makeup of The Pen , you would think there is no other issues on this team. But maybe the real problem is in the 12 guys on the hitting roster failing to perform on any consistent basis , including Betts, Benintendi and JD Martinez. JDM's totals to date are within his historical range but recently he has posted some ridiculous K numbers and looked bad doing it ( 15 of last 34 AB's). Hard to be too critical of Chavis as a raw rookie but he is nearing a 43% K rate over his last 113 AB's. Pearce and Moreland are MIA, and other than Mitch's brief HR run were not hitting well. Nunez is Nunez, as is Leon. What did we expect, a Sam Travis breakthrough? Devers and Bogaerts have carried the load, with improvement from Vazquez, and some over the last 30 days from JBJr after a two month tour of the .150s . Brock Holt is posting some numbers most recently but skipped about 50 games getting his kid out of his eyes. The bench has no legit PH'er on it , and no Of'er has a BA over .269, but Beni combines that with an OPS of .776. Andrew is a singles machine. Mookie at least cracks the .800's, and did get the fair pole potential game winner last night, all for naught. The focus may remain on Cora's decisions and bolstering the pen, but Tim Hyers needs to look at his job too. He can't hit for them but between his work and Cora's experience, some one needs to get about 6 of the 12 hitters to wake up.
  20. Johnson is a sad sack of a pitcher.
  21. Tremendous performance. Cora will need to discuss why he pulled Price early, but the bullpen overall pitched exceptionally well. But Workman and Velazquez made the mistakes that kept it going. The hitters have no excuses.
  22. Unbelievable. Couldn't get a ball out of the infield with no outs, Beni on 3rd, heart of the lineup.
