  1. Price, 3 more years at $32 million, Eovaldi , 3 more at $17 million, Sale, 4 more years at $30 million. $79 million a year for the next 3 years, with no possible takers for aging, sore armed/wrist/shoulder throwers. f***ing pitiful. Throw Pedey on the pile and its it's another $13+- million for the next 2 years. $92 million for players who have become marginal at best.
  2. 2 out pitching, way to go Rick
  3. 60 pitches for 1 out in the 3rd with 2 runners in scoring position. Good work on Sano, Rick. get one more now
  4. Simple, just do not re-sign him. Sam Travis or Mike Chavis is the cheap option if you like .240+- hitters which is what Moreland is.
  5. If the Sox can go 15-10 to end of September , a .600 pace, they can finish with 89 wins. That a mere 19 short of 2018 . Maybe time to take a longer look at the Astros plan for longer term relevancy. Of course the AL West is a lot like the NFL's AFC East in terms of competition.
  6. What costs 13+ million a year and takes 9 months of vacation ? Moreland and Pearce.
  7. Just another hole digger of a start by a Sox thrower who cannot get his stuff ready in the pen. And Randy Dubblebubble shuts down the mighty offense. Been gone for awhile but ready to cheer the 8%'ers on to the WC round.
  8. Typical of the season where the Red Sox are among runs scored leaders in MLB. But, although outscoring SD 17-7 in the series they fail to take the game that would have tightened the WC race in a lackluster effort on a Sunday afternoon.
  9. Another game where the Rays lose and Boston just kind of sleep walks at the plate
  10. Another 3 inning start followed by Butcher Brasier.
  11. JbJr flashing the leaping glove move
  12. JD hits better late in the season . Just a bit too late
  13. Cora has f***ed over Holt for 2 years now . It will be good for a laugh when AC gets canned and Holt is still playing. I guess it was the long run around the bases last night , setting up the win that wore ol Brockstar out resulting in a Cora rest session.
  14. I have to grin and bear it when I see comments which include Brian Johnson in 2020 pitching plans. As others have said, this is a failure by the front office to recognize their shortcomings. it's not BJ's fault. He just hasn't the skill and ability to pitch effectively.
  15. He can ask, but please don't pay it Boston. The starting pitching is so bad, they need a proven starter and a serious prospect for next year. Let Mookie be free
  16. So Erod becomes the Ace. What else do you need to know about 2019 ?
  17. Eovaldi gets 3 whole innings before puking it up. A little surprised AC pulls him that quick.
  18. Naylor for SD is a 22 year old phat phuque who cannot play LF well enough to be in MLB. Devers needs to look at him and remember to stay strong but not let the belly get over the belt at that age.
  19. The uniforms suck but the bats are colorful.
  20. i guess "Heavy Legs" wasn't an available nickname for Benny
  21. Here's the good news. You will have 5 years to watch and pay significant money for a pitcher who failed to finish the last two seasons with some combination of shoulder and elbow stress injuries . Skinny or fat, hard fastball or junk curve lollipops, the Sox have him now. Hope springs eternal but Chris Sale will be the next anchor on the payroll for a while to come. Realistically and based on Chris's history, the Sox would be better off holding Sale out of baseball activity, having a very late ST ramp up next May, and see if he can get from June through September when it may count.
  22. I would give Johnson a shot at being at ST, mostly because no other team would try to get him. A much lower likelihood of JBJr being there , if his arb request is in the $10's or higher. At those levels a .220 hitter (on a good day) , pushing 30 is more of a liability than an asset on a team that clearly will need starting and relief pitching. Assuming DD staya around, he cannot have an off season like the winter of 2018/2019. The almost laughable team performance immediately after the July31 deadline vote of confidence may well induce some payback to a few this off season, just to show who is in charge here .
  23. Alex is applying the heat in search of a 2 game win streak. He heard something about the Mets making a move in the nL and figured he'd try it too.
  24. No, and tomorrow doesn't hold much promise either
