  1. Love those cheap Pesky HR's. But that was Mookie's MO last night, so must not be too bad
  2. Clearly needs some rest, a mere shadow of his former 6'-9; 280 physique
  3. Breaking news--Mitchie 2 bags gets his second 4 bags in 3 months
  4. As tough as this season has been on Sox fans, you could always have had the bad luck to be an Angels fan. You might get to watch Mike Trout nightly, though even he is slumping now, but you will not likely see them in any playoff contention as long as the Astros and A's exist.
  5. Aside from discussing Rick's shortcomings, how about Mr. Betts, Bogaerts, and JDM's 0-11, the team's 1-9 with RISP. Devers redeemed his 1-5 with 3 Ks by making the 1 count for 3 runs. Beni's 2 hits accounted for 1 run. Bad day with the bats .
  6. I read Ian Browne's puff piece today on an alleged playoff roster. It said we have 2 of MLB's best 2 way Of'ers , oh and JBJr too. So based on Brownie's assessment, I have to change my thinking and become a Beni Backer.
  7. 3-51 when trailing after 6 innings got you down , Moon? Phuquing gutless wonders . Now need to go 15-9 (.625) to get 89 wins. Porcello pukes up 2 bombs in one inning to bury his guys. beni hits another doesn't matter HR. At least Hans Solo honored his own name.
  8. I guess 2 out walks by relievers are better than Porcellos, but it does raise some doubt.
  9. Devers showed he had problems with May's FB, so May throws him a slop curve down and in a bit to a LH power hitter. Jung, you got to love these guys throwing
  10. Devers delivers. Good for him and the Sox. Now its a game again. Bye, Mookie
  11. How does that algorithm match up with the Sox BP 7th inning algo ?
  12. Keep in mind that short of a real rally, the Sox came into this game needing to catch and pass the Rays first . The Rays loss in Game 1 of a DH with the O's was already posted. So big opportunity, and so far absolutely no reaction in a home game. Again, gutless so far.
  13. Brian Johnson---every GM's dream answer to some pitching difficulties. A true sign that Cora has bought a ringside seat for the "Wait til Next Year" parade
  14. And the hitters are showing some gutless effort.
  15. How can you be a MLB veteran pitcher , forget CY Young'er (hold the LOL), and have no more skill in throwing to spots, spinning the ball, low/away, up/in---whatever. It is called pitching.
  16. Rick's flat, mid speed straight ball flies well in the Manfred era. Verlander said today again that the ball is juiced , citing the MLB HR totals and the AAA increase of 60% over the prior year.
  17. i assume Cruz did not want to come to Boston when we resigned Pearce, and I don't care if he can't play 1B. Neither could Pearce this year
  18. Long, long night. 3 of the worst AB's strung together this year. Hopeless swings by Beni
  19. An open tryout for a starting or BP position could be a cheap fix for this team
  20. Look for the results this inning by Bogey, JDM, and Beni ( who has had his hit already wasted). If nothing , it will be a long night
  21. Sox have only hit 3 times so far , but this game has all the 2019 familiarity working. Fall behind, 5 inning starter , no life by the bats early, behind at Fenway. Aren't they something like 3-40+ when trailing after 6 innings ??
  22. Pedey is not DD's fault, but the 3 pitchers are . There was no purpose whatsoever to extending Sale and EO with their arm histories . Porcello never was truly great but good at covering innings for a big hitting team. Now he's exposed , and DD can't risk signing him to anything .
  23. You can argue that the overall defense including his arm does affect a majority of the games he plays, even without the 10 game a year highlight, HR robbing catches. But the bat and its inconsisstency also affect most games. I think most good teams can afford one pure defensive player , just not 3. Also JBJr will be 30 and has no upside in his future. He costs $9-$10 million. Trade him for anything over the winter
