  1. Amazing how good things happen when the top of the lineup hits early and often . Totally different look. It also helps when a guy like Godley holds the Phillies to one run in 4 innings.
  2. Solving the pitching dilemma has become Bloom's #1 priority over the next couple seasons, but he isn't the one or more GM/VP who failed to draft and develop any pitching of note for the last 10 years. Something worked for TB while he was there and seeing the depth of his problem in Boston I am sure he will address it, possibly starting by August 31, although he has little to work with.
  3. With the loss of both Sale and Erod then Taylor/Hernandez from the BP, the team's fate was sealed for this year. However, the utter failure of now veteran players like Benintendi, Devers and JDM to hit hard and consistently has made the early inning deficits unrecoverable leading to your accurate observation of a dispirited group. Verdugo, Vazquez, Bogaerts combined with the aforementioned 3 should have been enough to carry this team to possibly a .500 level, not a 6-17 record. They are as much to blame for the outcomes as the rag arm throwers.
  4. Be nice if Hembree can get a simple , low pitch, clean inning. First out is booked
  5. I would say that achieving the reset is the single and best reason to play this out another two weeks and then Sept if anyone is interested.
  6. What is it ?? 11-12 HR's in a 4 game series. No pride or competitiveness showing up
  7. I know what you mean about why give a damn what these guys do. i got over that years ago after I went to the mailbox many times over a couple of decades looking for my check from the RedSox. Always figured the check was in the mail and would get here tomorrow. Never did and finally I got over it.
  8. B's hold on 4-3
  9. Yankees clear the wall, JDM retreating to warning track power.
  10. B's went nuts on Reimer in mid 3rd period. Sort of like the comback win the Sox will be posting tonight
  11. Could the Sox send anyone to the Bruins so the Bruins could drop Bjork ?
  12. Oshit working my patience. On their way to another 8 runner.
  13. I will offer one hitting concept to Devers and several others. Every time you try to pull a low outside pitch, you will roll it over into a simple ground ball , often a DP. The overall pitching is self-explanatory, however sad to watch. The hitting , on the other hand , by multiple veterans is inexplicable.
  14. Hard not too be cynical in this hot mess of a shrunken head season. Among this roster whose game is advancing to be a new positive force next year ? Arauz , as a back up? Verdugo, not really advancing.
  15. Oshit back in form again
  16. Bruins having the same problem as the Sox tonight---Can't hit (the back of the net)
  17. 3 offensive innings: 9 outs on 32 pitches. Impressive
  18. Dig the hole early and often, ready for a Weber encore. He probably needs a day or two between 3 inning stints
  19. No disagreement, they are really bad on chasing this year
  20. 2 out, 2 strike pitching will burn you every time
  21. Either Tim Hyers is the worst hitting coach in MLB, or his guys cannot recognize low breaking balls. Fire Hyers , although it is more likely the latter
  22. I'm real glad peraza looks like a combo of Manny and JDM in LF. Perez dodged a bullet there
  23. Has their been one yet this season who doesn't ? But 2 straight 2 outs walks also runs Perez's pitch count up early putting us into the bullpen by 5th inning
  24. Sloppy 2 out walk, Perez almost had a clean inning.
  25. Kind of like the effectiveness of their infield shifts, and relief pitcher selection
