  1. Love me some Teddy B. and Tony C was robbed of an HoF career. Rafael is a real chance at a big time player
  2. i do not envy Eduardo and his Covid experience. I have been lucky enough to never suffer a migraine, so cannot relate directly to the pain it may cause. But I do know that Erod has issues, health or otherwise, and I am going to guess he is a gone dude come next season . Maybe he is a WS MVP or maybe he is just another in a line of RS players who are inexplicable .
  3. Home run prone, why do you say that ?
  4. seems like he just did, and with 2 more outs the umps will call it
  5. 2 out , 3-2 counts, Tanner is a product of this system. But his FB does seem to have some good movement which we haven't seen a lot of from Red Sox arms
  6. But at 6'-4" , 220 is a good weight for him
  7. Very discouraging that Casshman said the 3 positive tests were from vaccinated players, and he expects 3 more. I don't wish the illness on any of them and the cancellations will back up the scheduling with a bunch of 7 inning DH's later, stressing the pitching further. Encouraging though is that vaccinated people may have exposure and carry the virus but don't get noticeably sick. f***ing Chinese viral manipulators funded by f***ing Fauci's NIH.
  8. Interesting in the 20 round draft how the Angels, seriously in need of pitching selected 20 pitchers in their 20 slots, and even the pitching rich Dodgers ( has anyone seen Bauer lately?) took 17 pitchers. Not sure on Boston's final count but we have SS covered for the future decade or so.
  9. Cut out the current standings from the first 91 games and put it in a cheap frame because it's a trade month "rental. To see the 2021 leading the AL East at 55 wins (tied with Astros for most W's) will be a treat all the way through Sept when the final regular season is posted. Then we'll see how it finished. Even a .500 run, not expected nor desired gets a 91 win team and should earn a WC slot. Overall a big success for Bloom/Cora and crew , with more to come.
  10. Some of us relate well or enjoy watching certain Red Sox players over the years. In my own case , Matt Barnes is not one of those . I commend those on the site who think he is a winner, and I grant that this year's stats bear that out. But I still cringe when Matt enters the game and last night's ASG performance shows exactly why. 2 hits, a walk, 25 pitches and a diving, sliding catch of a sure line drive hit on a 3-0 count saved his sorry ass yet again. Ok, he was up against the almost best of the NL but the performance was pure Barnes. As Matt himself said, walking off the mound, " Holy s*** !". Yes, I'm definitely a lifelong Red Sox fan but I am superglad the extension of Matt Barnes is considered a bargain in today's game. I would hate to pay a premium for this thrower with minimum command of the ball or game. The best part of the extension is that Matt is now very tradable as noted by BTV
  11. GOT IT, Boss. What's next, I'm ready for work
  12. Enjoyed reading your Lux tax budget for 2022, just didn't want to requote it (save electrons) to make one point. The exclusion of Erod from the Sox future plans has to be taken as a failure at a critical position. I'm sure he will go make an FA deal that doesn't fit the Lux Tax for Boston. With FA starting pitching regularly going for $20-$30MM per pitcher on 3-6 year deals they had better learn how to develop young pitchers as the Rays did under Bloom. JDM poses a special problem with age coming on, and a premium price tag. He has one shot at a new 3 year contract, after 2022, taking him to retirement . Is he so special that Boston could afford that luxury ?
  13. I notice in the draft that the Sox have selected 4 pitchers among their first 11 choices. None of the 4 were pre-ranked prospects ... Makes a lot of sense to not spend resources on development tasks that you have proven you are not very good at performing.
  14. Can't wait, he's leaving it all on the field today
  15. This is a key inning to pick up 2 or 3 runs. Somebody needs to step up, maybe Verdugo's turn
  16. You are so correct. Harper jumped high school at 16 to play at Juco level in Las Vegas, then was drafted and adanced very quickly. He is a burn out at an age when normal players are just reaching their prime ( Bogaerts for ex.)
  17. Think about it. The Sox have led the league with a rotation of EO, Erod, Pivetta , Perez and Richards. Position players like Gonzalez, Dalbec, Santana, Chavis . Virtually no back up catcher once Plawecki went down. Haven't been a big winner at Fenway. The post ASG break could be anything , but not predictable. A complete fade or .500 level, or continue winning. Those AL East games will be the clue. Sale's pending return, even Brasier might help or make no difference. I think Bloom does have pressure to find at least one veteran bat to fill the OF/1B position.
  18. Umpire doesn't need to check Pivetta for sticky stuff. He is not sticking around much longer today
  19. Why does it become so obvious some times that the pitcher just has no real ability to command the game
  20. What could Pivetta get in the off season that might help him pitch with two outs ?
  21. Gregorius strikes himself out, no thanks to Pivetta
