  1. Dalbec is interesting , if nothing else. His defense appears to rate poorly at 1B, 3B should be no easier for him. But if someone told you about a 6'-4" RH hitter with power to play 81 times at Fenway , hitting .240 with 25 HR's and 80 rbi's plus with favorable team budget control for multiple years as a bonus , you would likely take a hard look. With some D work, and better plate discipline which there are some signs of, Dalbec can/will hold the fort while determining if Casas is the future answer. Possibly a platooner with Schwarber (if signed) , and a PH when needed.
  2. Any team that will go $60MM/4 years for JDM needs to rethink their overall plan. Only AL teams considered, not sure who has deep pockets and only one hitter away from a title. I wonder if the rule on options is that the player has to declare first to opt out before he can negotiate with another team ? The NBA makes a farce of that provision but MLB may be tougher since you are technically under contract until you are not. It's binary .
  3. Meanwhile , I watched a 40 year old Nelson Cruz round the bases 360 nominal feet one time and 180' the next on a single. Our turtles go 90' at a time.
  4. One reason the Angels let Iglesias go was he was error prone this year, 16 I think so far.
  5. Just so weary of watching the slider chase by so many of our hitters. I understand it's a moving ball that looks one way, then "slides" across and usually down. But if you cannot see the red dot spinning out of the pitcher's hand and lay off then you are not a professional hitter, just another bat swinger. I don't see that many opponents chasing our pitcher's sliders. I'm not sure nayone except Sale even throws a good one. Totally leaadss to wasted AB's. Don't get it this late in the season after you have seen about 1000 or 1500 thrown at you.
  6. Ironic that Plawecki is the only Sox frequent player hitting .300 or better
  7. Cora is f***ed, Cordero due up so he needs to go with big stick Plawecki?
  8. JDM makes me like NBA basketnball
  9. The f***ing inability to recognize the low spinning slider at your feet is incomprehensible.
  10. In reality, the Red Sox have played virtually the whole season with about 50% of the expected regular players and a bunch of AAAA'ers and other castoffs, including starting and bullpen pitching. Amazing they are over .500 in the AL East.
  11. Give up 11 runs two days in a row ??? Why does everyone think this team can compete with the best ?
  12. Honestly, several of the Red Sox should be forced to spend the off season watching an endless video loop of low spinning sliders that would never be strikes except for the unbelievable urge by these same guys to swing at them , even when it would otherwise hit them in the toe
  13. It is not possible to so consistently hit hard into a shift and place the ball in the glove of the only fielder within 100' perfectly clean and with room to spare on the DP.
  14. bad fundamentals, emphasis on mentals
  15. I'd rather keep Shaw on base than unreliable, dumbass runner Cordero
  16. If they do bail this out in bottom 9, it still indicate why this team is highly unlikely to advance in playoffs
  17. In addition to his other numerous failings (only RS with no hit today), he is a short little f***er
  18. If you are watching the ESPN version, you heard the Rays are now +46 run differential in the 9th inning and Sox are -31 , maybe 32 now. And they do it year after year with significantly under $100MM budget. Wish we had their GM. Oh wait, we do so WTF is going on here???
  19. No , but he can get the win, more likely the loss
  20. How f'ing predictable. TBR scores a run in every inning since the 6th.
  21. 9 runs looks like a big day for the offense. Actually it was one 6 run inning, an HR by #9 hitter and not a lot else. Am I griping, no way, just reflecting on how the score doesn't reflect the game action very well. And 4 of TBR's runs come on a fluke flyball miss (sun field) and a bad throw by a guy who won't be around much longer Also Laz Diaz must not want to umpire in the playoffs.
  22. Better find a way to score in bottom 8
  23. It's a tragedy of a strategy, SS
  24. Well only 5 outs left and still a huge one run lead. I knew when this was 7-1 that it would probably turn into a 1950's Red Sox 12-11 game
  25. 6 simple outs, probably take 9 equivalents to get it done. Arauz did pick a nice time to go deep with a long ball.
