  1. I do think there is some truth to this thought. Bloom may not think they can go very far this year.
  2. From getting all the Angels coverage in SoCal, I can vouch that Andrew Heaney is not the answer to anyone's pitching problems. He could compete with Perez, and Richards but that is not saying much.
  3. As stated by others, not all those maneuvering can even get to the Wild card round. But bless their little hearts for trying. A's and Mariners start the day with better records than Yankees and Jays
  4. I'm the someone who mentioned that I never felt Erod was a tough competitor. That comes from just watching him both as a NIBBLER on the mound and the dull expression on his face when he's on TV. He has had success before (2019) but has been seriously ill more recently, but I never thought his head was much in the game.
  5. Given the number of question marks on the current roster, it is not inconceivable that Bloom , true to his words, is building for 2022. Planning on a couple key FA's and further development from the Durans, and maybe Dalbec (lots of work needed). The likelihood of this 2021 Red Sox team, as good as results have been so far, going deep into the playoffs is very low.
  6. To further the confusion, Erod recorded 10 outs last night. 8 of them were K's, in the course of giving up 7 hits, 6 runs and 4 walks. That is a guy who is lost on the rubber. I never thought Erod had the mental discipline and fortitude to be a strong competitor. High potential and a weak will to succeed.
  7. My testicle is impeccable, you can see it through your spectacle
  8. No matter what happens today, Tyler, you can go to sleep knowing that upon wakening July 31, your Boston Red Sox will still be in 1st FREAKIN' place in the AL East
  9. With the OF'ers that have gone through Fenway over the last 50 years, spending time thinking about Cordero as part of a longer term game plan is laughable to me. The stats are a good evaluation tool, but combine it with some eyeball observations to see the inherent skill levels and adjustments to the situation they are hitting in.
  10. I'm with you ,SS. I still play catch with my grandson using a 1Bman glove Pete Runnels gave to me in 1964, when he wass a member of the Houston Colt .45s, along with Nellie Fox, eddie Casco, Hal Brown, walter Bonds, Rusty Staub, Jerry Grote, Walt Williams, John Bateman and Jimmy Wynn.
  11. So what is Bloom's defense in trading for a corner outfielder on the IL ? I'm guessing it is not his last deal of the day and the master plan will become clear.
  12. D, my only disagreement is that it is not really a good team , as currently rostered. It is a team that has won despite mediocre starting pitching but a good BP performance , though only about 3 or 4 guys there.
  13. As in, I'll pay you to take them, Mr GM
  14. Bloom says he's interested in what is going on around MLB
  15. Was driving from Las Vegas to Temecula and following this POS game via my phone. I sincerely hope for Erod's sake that his problems with pitching aren't related to after effects or Long Covid. If not then he truly does suck and will not cash big in his FA opportunity . Too bad for him On the other hand , I don't really care how good Ryu is, this team is in a slump through its core hitters and the other 3 may never be successful MLB'ers . We can only hope that the pigsty Trop wakes them all up. Still amazing they have hung on this long in first, but looking tired.
  16. Barnes sequence against Grichuk showed signs of excellence, good for him
  17. You guys know me enough to realize that I am not a Matt Barnes fan ( save the stats, I can read them, but still not a fan). I think he is a thrower, not pitcher, and loves to put the leadoff guy on base
  18. There's the answer... Put Dalbec at 3rd , otherwise he would never have seen it live
  19. Where is Swihart when you need him (not his Ghost ), Lavarnway, Middlebrooks and a host of others who came up but found MLB pitching to be harmful to their financial futures
  20. Dalbec cannot catch up to the fastball, and far worse cannot recognize the pitch that winds up in the dirt. Pretty sad situation, leaving Sox with limited options
  21. I can't rank his catching and game calling skills, but Plawecki gives you good AB's and is almost at .300/.750
