  1. Agreed, and a successful Paxton would force this to happen. Cora and Bloom have been reluctant to disclose their thinking because, like us, they are not sure what Paxton will bring to the party. It's BYOB, bring your own baseball.
  2. Lots of talk going on about what to do with 6 or 7 starting pitchers, who should stay/who should go to the pen or just away. Why not let Paxton actually pitch about 3 times and see if he can get to the 5 inning threshhold effectively before shuffling the rest of the deck. I know that routine on a 5 day schedule is key for many pitchers , so disrupting Sale or maybe Kluber's cycles needs accomodation but a missed turn or even a piggyback for Houck/Whitlock ( when ready) isn't out of the question for 2 weeks. Bello, if necessary, could travel to Worcester to keep in rotation . Pivetta could be skipped once also. Finally, a real decision on Houck/Whitlock and the bullpen should get done . The point is that there is no way to accurately know just how ready or capable Paxton is. Normally, it would be a good problem to have this many starters available but somehow the individuals involved make it a crapshoot.
  3. I would prefer that Dalbec , hitting for Casas, hits a 3 run HR. DalbeKKKK
  4. Keep in mind that during the 8 game win streak, the Sox scored no less than 5 runs ( once) and 6 runs ( once ) , all others were 7 or more runs. The second half of the lineup participated in a meaningful way. On Sunday, nobody hit much and tonight Devers through Mc Guire ( 4-9) are a combined 2 for 15 ( plus 3 walks) . That combined with Pivetta's awful outing gets you in the big hole you are in BoSox. Get something going tomorrow night and split this banana.
  5. So , not at all, is in fact an option?
  6. Pivetta vs Charlie Morton to see if a new streak can be started.
  7. It was a great 8 game run, and series win. Let's restart a streak in Atlanta, split if they have to but take 2 on the roads from another good team.
  8. Littell showing why he was still available in AAA Round Rock
  9. Cora concedes, the streak is over. The janitor Brasier comes in to sweep up the elephant poop
  10. Total HS by Bleier , letting Schwarb beat you. Houck could have literally done no worse
  11. So overall, Houck turns in a good performance through 5 2/3rds , holding Phillies to 2 runs. Bleier needs to get Schwarber and then Sox can hit Walker
  12. Now it's up to Houck to stabilize his game. He did do that in a previous start when he completed 6 innings after a mini-blow up
  13. Casas hits one out at a key spot.
  14. Houck showing the ad for why he might need to be a BP piece. Just looks like he totally lost his focus and ability in the all too predictable 2nd time through. Is this a mental thing with him ?
  15. So Tapia's a hitter, not a base stealer ? Boston's 2 hits have been self erasing
  16. Both teams now start the 2nd time through the lineup. I'm not sure how Walker has done historically with his progressions but Houck will have the chance to show he can handle the 2nd and subsequent times through a lineup.
  17. Wong doing damage to players wanting to run on our pitchers.
  18. The LH'ers are tearing up Walker . Almost all chasing the outside fadeaway ball.
  19. Second time that Yoshida has been picked off. Get some rest Yoshi
  20. Tapia deserves a K just for chasing that pitch. I'm with Jad.
  21. Yoshi renews his now 16 game hit streak with a single. I imagine the day off worked, lol
  22. In another world, a quick scan of SoCal sports news reveals that JD Martinez of the LAD is increasing his physical movement after 2 weeks off due to back injury . It's hard not to say much. JD was once a force in Boston. Looking at the Angels vs the Rangers it was hard not to notice that Nate Eovaldi ( Rangers) followed up his complete game shutout of the Yankees last week with 8 innings of shutout work vs LAA. Nate's back is doing OK so far.
  23. Amazing and greatly enjoyed 8 game win streak courtesy of our own Splendid Splinter , and BTW Red Sox players, coaches, and AC
  24. You need to start scoring 8, this is still too tight.
