  1. The Beantown Boppers are playing like they did in the early weeks of the season . No real hitting, errors and Cora managing his BP with extremely bad luck.
  2. Enough about the pitching, where are the hitters in the Cardinal series ?
  3. I know Cora was following that old theory of let your stud get past his prior f***up. However, the corollary is that back to back f***ups mess with their mind. I still think Jensen was not feeling strong
  4. Just waiting for someone to say, WTF happened to the hitters today ?? I'll wait. 3 runs should have won the game but this team needs 6-7-8 to cover
  5. If you do not think Jansen isn't somewhat diminished physically , you aren't watching
  6. I understand bringing Kenley in for the close out, but wonder if he is having any further back trouble that may affect his back to back appearances. Hoping he closes it easily, because the alternative would raise big questions
  7. In a game that you are inclined to feel is in good hands and a virtual win, think again about 6 outs to go. Sale needs to shutdown the 8th , ending with about 100+ pitches and one of the BP geniuses ( less the alleged best 2) needs to come in for #9
  8. If Pivetta has options, consider them. I think he could be offered at trade deadline
  9. As much as I rag on Kike, I think you are right ( now), but to me the real question actually is Arroyo . Mondesi, Chang, now Reyes, who do you keep. It is almost hypothetical and esoteric because of the 4 only Reyes can actually be playing the game right now. Pops Hernandez reclaims his crown
  10. I only hope fans fully appreciate that Reyes' OPS is 3 X that of Pops Devers
  11. Bob couldn't hit the curve ball but always went to the right side with a man on second .
  12. It would appear that Chris "Freakin'" Sale is back , and Paxton has teased us now with his potential, Kluber is getting better (?) and there are 3-4 other guys ( Bello, Houck, Whitlock , Crawford) to work through . If the first 3 can rack up 160-180 innings and the last 2 or 3 get 120+ each then the starting rotation can be competitive , keeping the Sox in the playoff mix.
  13. Fenway is at its sunny best in early October on line drives to RF.
  14. Sale cruising, low pitch count through 4, working with the lead. In the dugout thinking , can I get 9 (27 outs) and give Brasier the day off?
  15. Are Ball/Strike calls objective or subjective ? If robot/radar comes into use it will be objective facts . The jabroney currently working behind the plate is totally subjective.
  16. Another "At'em". Just subjective observation , not backed by objective xHHB facts
  17. Yes, he should have gone but it was a gamble because there was no way a throw home was going to happen with Turner on third. The chance was the LF'er may be unfamiliar with bounces off the tin and misplayed it. Yepez didn't
  18. League leaders in "At'em" balls.
  19. Looks like a no hitter for Sale so far. He comes out dealing.
  20. It is tough to give up leads and wins with a big time ( HoF ??) closer but that is what happens. Winckowski is another story , he needs to add to his resume before assuming he will be lights out. In any case he cost them the lead but not the game. Overall, this is the type of loss you remember later in the year. Better win tomorrow's day game.
  21. Why doesn't NESN run the Red Sox Foundation promo during the inter-inning breaks instead of during what passes for game action?
  22. 2 outs, 2 strike count and Paxton shows the Red Sox way is imprinted. Most of his pitches have been up and that result was somewhat predictable
  23. I have Paxton down for about 3 innings and 3 runs. Knowing it will take a few starts to get in full time pitching mode. Just don't get blasted in the first. I do note that he will try it tonight left-handed, so there's that
  24. And San Diego with Bogaerts performing very well, plus Machado, Tatis and whatever else are 19-19. But it's early
  25. I can't start it either because of Pivetta and the lack of hitters last night. We need the Splendid Splinter to step up and start a new streak. Or Jad.
