  1. Sox have scored 1 run in last 14 innings now. They are beyond uninteresting. The game in Cincinnati last night while not memorable may have been the least effort of the year.
  2. Let's consider a 2023 contract for FA Wacha before anyone notices how he has pitched, when not IL'ed. They guy is 11-1, 2.54 ERA ( not great stats for evaluating real value), but on a team that will finish below .500 , Wacha's record glows like no other in the clubhouse
  3. They have been extremely consistent with that situation all year. They don't even advance the runner on a productive out, forgetting the old 13 ways to score from 3B
  4. I guess he wants an invite to ST somewhere next year, so he'll hang out for a couple weeks around Arlington, TX
  5. JDM K'ed chasing as always but only accounted for 1 out. Donaldson burned himself and the runner, so much worse. $45 million worth of duds this year
  6. No I just made one . You are ineligible due to misloyalties
  7. Normally this would be an exciting series. The only thing to follow though is whether Aaron judge catches and passes Roger Maris 's 61 blasts. I guess there is a possibility , with 4 games, Judge could catch Bonds too As far as the games go, be like the Red Sox, Whatever ??
  8. Given the competition level vs the Reds, and the inability to close out the 5th ( not all his fault, due to bleeders and bloop hits) , Connor did not help his chances. The primary issue is that we have to believe there will be a crowd around the mound at ST and I don't see a role for him or reason to hold on to him. Bloom could perhaps move him in a multiplayer or TBNL deal to someone who thinks he can help as he did in brief showings this year. He was one strike and one out away from closing out an efficient 1 run game vs the Reds when it came unhinged on him. As A700 said, we have some Bad Luck pitchers
  9. No one apparently has told Casas that a K is superior to a DP from a team production POV. This isn't just a slump . If not for his Cole HR he would be a total loss so far. Not to say he won't be the second coming of Travis Shaw next year.
  10. Had he recorded the 3rd out before allowing 3 runs , he would have been in the 8's which would have earned him an invite to Ft. Myers in '23. Not sure I can help him now.
  11. Not sure I have had the pleasure of seeing a 5 inning pitcher with 4 WPs. From his appearances this year and inability to go long, Seabold may not have much of a future with the Red Sox, if Bloom upgrades the pitching for 2023.
  12. Going to jump the gun and say that Seabold should be done after 5. He is fraying around the edges on an otherwise good effort There it goes. He can now only qualify for the loss. Another case of 2 out pitching and 2 out walks Seabold cannot get the 3rd strike or 3rd out. Jams the hitter and gets a bloop over Hernandez. Reminder that the inning started on a grounder the snuck below Devers glove as he ranged hard to his left.
  13. Assuming Hosmer heals over the winter , and unless Casas goes on a tear the last few weeks here, I can see the scenario where Eric starts the2023 season, maybe with our old friend Dalbec, while Casas shows he can hit consistently for a month or so in Worcester. I'm sure Hosmer and Dalbec will be fully available as part of trade deals over the winter , so only Bloom knows how much trust he will put in Casas to carry the load out of ST, if necessary. I do think they need to let Casas just keep playing here regardless of any production. To sit him would be pointless . He needs the reps even if it looks discouraging. Maybe JDM will lend him a spare video player to look at over the winter.
  14. 4 innings of a 1-1 pitchers duel between Chase and Connor. Says a lot about all the batters present at Great American ballpark.
  15. Story has become a heel issue. Glad it's not his back. If he returns for the remaining 14 games , he will have played right at 2/3rds of the schedule, 108 games. Bogaerts will likely get into 150+ barring a late injury. Devers will play about 140+ games. Kike will make about 90+ If Kike and Story play in 2023, they will need to show up in many more games than they got into this year. So will Chris Sale
  16. The HBP's vs the Red Sox are getting tiresome. Accidents for sure but still aggravating Seabold bops Farmer in the 1st. No payback, just no grip on the ball Connor K's the Cinn side to get his ERA below 11.00 as predicted by Splendid
  17. Chase Anderson is a journeyman hack of a pitcher in the latter stage of his career. The Sox should take this game and sweep the short series, making the Splinter open the NYY 4 game series.
  18. Nolan Arenado ?? Are you just sticking him in to see if we read the post? News to ol' Nolan if he is in the HoF
  19. Regrettably Hosmer as a pickup has proven to be of no value on the field this late season. Bloom brought him over to patch the large defensive and offensive hole at 1B. His contract status , with SD on the hook for all but the minimum, does create some value, well except for Eric's bad back, a common malady to several Red Sox players this year. Bloom , like his team, is hitting about .240 this year on retentions, new moves, pick-ups and promotions from WooSox.
  20. No, I would be concerned that he would take it , thereby clogging the path to signing better pitching . His QO number would prevent at least one or two added high to mid level pitching additions. JDM's talents will not increase as he continues to age , and the perceived decline over the second half of 2022 is an example of that. Or maybe he was protesting Bloom's trade of Vazquez in his own way.
  21. I'd like to comment on Strahm's inability to throw strikes ( 9 of 25 pitches) but the team wins and marches on steadfastly towards the 80 mark.
  22. 0-6 RISP, 2 GIDP, 2 runs despite 4 walks and 3 HBP's in 4 innings. Refsnyder's 410' HR was a solo .
  23. Reffy, not Raffy this time with the big fly to take back the lead over a team playing 31 games under .500.
  24. JDM lights the ball up off the CF wall and rolls into 3rd like he was born there.
  25. A little surprised he stayed in the stretch with bases loaded. He could go windup without too much fear of someone on third sneaking home with out him realizing it
