It was an 0-2 pitch to Raffy, so they may have thought it would be a low away slider, but Steele is a LH'er looking right at the runner. Trying to make something happen but backfired. Cora perhaps thought Duran was playing CF today.

Odd lineup for a semi-critical game. Either the Sox win the series or lose any sense of momentum on the chase for #3 WC. Cubs are a sub.500 team but rolling out a top line pitcher. How long was the team in a tiebreaker win over the Yankees for 4th ? The true story of 2023 has been a couple of reasonable win streaks scattered around a .500 level up/down yo-yo. Why would an unbiased person expect that to change much ?

Watch for injuries between now and the 31st to see which contender might need an experienced infielder/outfielder/ RH PH. If that happens and a team needs that guy, don't be shocked if it's not Kike. If we traded him into the AL East mix , would it be a net gain or loss ?

Just keep winning series, split any 4 gamers and that will be the path to the playoffs. They do need to play about .600 +- level to move up on the other ALE teams. With 70 to go, that is 42-28 , tall order with only 3 starting pitchers, but thew schedule through July 31 does include 14 games ( 2 West Coast trips, A's, Giants, Mariners) and 3 off days .
