  1. Let's keep the ball bouncing....a simultaneous "slump" with limited run production over a 10 game period by 10 or more lineup batters is uncommon. No multirun scoring innings over 9+ games is uncommon. It also speaks to the fact that to achieve that, it means that NO ONE hit a homerun with a man or men on base. That is the only fact common to this version of the RS. I do think that when the rest of the lineup sees Devers failing to pick them up, they try too hard to hit the 6 run HR with no one on , thereby failing to extend innings and move the line. I also think Casas has a long way to go as a player, but time is on his side. If Story returns during July as a DH initially , then Casas will have to sit in favor of Turner at 1B for his bat. Or Turner will be heavily shopped at the deadline ( more likely)
  2. It's only one loss , although the team is again below .500 and on the wrong side of run differential ( -1) . Oh wait, you say that Daniel Bard was the winning pitcher , and Connor Seabold shut them down for 6 or so innings. Now you do have a problem . That game and outcome was pathetic, with defensive errors and warning track power overcoming a fine start by Paxton .
  3. I'm getting weary of Casas. I know...the ball and the infield was wet , just like his pants.
  4. Bard gets bailed out by Casas, Pivetta thought he should walk everyone after Bush told him to intentionally walk McMahon.
  5. Pivetta making it interesting. That elusive 3rd out
  6. Casas, not much else to say.
  7. So time for the face to show up
  8. Just cannot get the 3rd out on 3 tries. Bernadino will get it done
  9. Can't speak for Cora's obsessions, but Bloom may shop Kike , if Story gets ready by the deadline. Otherwise are we expecting Bloom to give Kike another 1 year $10MM deal?
  10. Interesting that the last time Suter came in after Seabold had pitched well, he blew the game also. That was last week. Suter had further assistance from Justin Lawrence in allowing runs
  11. Duvall may need 10-12 games ( 50 PA's ) to get back up to mid-season MLB speed. Or it may be that he is a mid-level player. The 8 game outburst in April is not the basis for a season projection
  12. I trust Devers will have at least one slump every year he is under contract, maybe 2. But this current one is not funny or enjoyable.
  13. It should no longer be coincidence that Bloom has signed a number of players who were intended to be regulars/starters who have made a living on the IL or rehab circuit. Sale was not Bloom's error. ( Paxton, Mondesi, Story)
  14. Especially because the Sox cannot rely on Sale's presence nor contributions going forward. Paxton is earning his keep after a long wait
  15. That is a telling stat ! And maybe extended to 80 innings soon.
  16. That was a nothingburger inning. Wong needs to respect the Fenway ground rules. Hard hit off the Wall is a single .
  17. Has the PTBNL from Colorado or the cash payoff for Seabold ( 1/17/23) been determined ?
  18. Good fact. Connor is on a roll .
  19. Mondesi must be a special case , which is why Bloom signed him. NFL running backs return from ACL's quicker .
  20. 2 out f***ing , run scoring error by the SS, whoever that is. Trailing the Rockies, and playing from behind. The Sox pitchers need to go on strike
  21. Not sure Seabold has thrown 3 consecutive shutout innings before in his MLB career. I think a lot of people assumed coming home after the series win in NY that they would pound Connor. True for the first 3 hitters, then silence.
  22. Why doesn't Devers just stay over by the foul line and talk to the opposing 3b coach ?
  23. No concerns, Devers will be the face of the franchise for a long time. He is a really dangerous hitter and other teams fear him
  24. Based on his limited performances for the Red Sox in '21/'22 , Connor Seabold is a slump buster if ever there was one. The Rockies do have their 2Bman hitting .667/2.334 so there is that. Fully expecting ( counting on ?) Paxton to shut these guys down while the hitters come alive
  25. Yoshi needs a break to consider how to get back to his oppo field slash hitting . He and Dugo are back to topping the ball a high % of times. When those two are hot at #1/#2 in the lineup, a lot of good can happen. I would rather see Devers hitting 3rd behind them, than 4th, where Turner might be better placed. Try to avoid 1st inning DPs.
