    Unusual move where the Mets acquire Flexen and Gott from Mariners and directly DFA Flexen again, bottom fishing for any value.

    So the answer to the starting pitcher TBD is none other than the surprisingly effective reliever Brennan Bernardino, making it a BP game . Tough way to start a key series where the team needs 4 or better yet 5 wins. Rangers can hit ( but still lose)

    My gut feel is that Sox will not be sellers , particularly Paxton , because that would be capitulation. However, players like Kike, Arroyo, McGuire and Duvall could be moved for prospects , if a catcher is part of the package. Pivetta is an interesting teaser but we still need him or equal now. If they think they can get to WC this year and next, Jansen needs to stay. Kluber and Mondesi are non-factors, no one would take them and the Sox gamble failed on both.

    Agree that Turner will be back if in good health because he also covers 2 fielding positions if needed. The elephant in the room is the starting rotation. Sox simply cannot count on Sale for his last year. Bloom will need to re-sign Paxton or equivalent, and add 2 legit starters via trade/FA

    FWIW, the Rangers evened up the game at 10-10 in the 7th. These are the guys in Fenway tomorrow afternoon. Maybe they will be arm weary from swinging the bat so much

    With the A-S game in Seattle , I am actually glad that no player other than Jansen will have to make that trip . Note that the following week's schedule includes a trip to Chicago Cubs and Oakland. Then near end of July another trip out to San Francisco and Seattle. Stay home and get rested, babies born, bats turned on a lathe , gloves oiled, etc . Be ready to rip off a 10 game win streak.

    Hope the 4th of July includes some Red Sox fireworks !! Looking to extend the 3 game win streak against a really good Ranger team (50-35) leading the AL West by 3 over the Astros , after Monday's 12-11 loss . Sox have 6 at home ( 3 w/TX; 3w/A's) before the reset of the All-Star break. Need to go 4-2 minimum . The Red Sox starter is TBD as of Monday while Cora and Bloom commiserate over a cold beer. If Bello is going Wednesday and Paxton is having a baby, who is left in the shredded rotation ? Call it a BP game or will a WooSoxer get an MLB appearance plus a day's pay? Texas will start Dane Dunning (RH) sporting a 7-1 record with a 2.69 ERA /1.10 WHIP. But he is not a strikeout artist with 51 in 80 innings, good news for a few in our typical lineup. Dunning came out of the TX bullpen having worked 8 games there before being inserted into the rotation .

    The LH swinger is on a trajectory towards 1B so it's a graceful continuation move. The RH hitter has to stop his entire momentum and reverse direction of his hips/legs/torso

    I trust that you have ever heard the phrase " compare and contrast" . I contrasted Casas still developing potential as a "100 OPS+" ballplayer to Kike's 0% possibility of ever being my fav Red Sox. There is no comparison.

    As mentioned elsewhere on Talksox, this team is the definition of averageness, middle of the road, compromising , not exceptional, etc. However, I draw the line at mediocre. To me that would be below average. Revert to the mean or perish
