  1. I thought Duran couldn't hit LH'ers. His numbers just got better, AC
  2. Quite correct Mr. D. All you have to do is look briefly at the posts on some the Facebook type RSN groups and it is truly a sad state of ignorant fandom. I have been a RS fan for nearly 70 years , involved directly with baseball many of those , but still learn some nuances and good takes regarding baseball from the people on this site. Game Threads are for fun and it is ironic how some take it so seriously or personally. The internecine wars in the Forums between some "fans' is hilarious. Enjoy the game
  3. I like Notin's #2 as i do not see Duvall in any go forward scenario next year. I tend to agree with Bellhorn's assessment that Paxton would be a difficult move in terms of continuing to compete, but Notin's #3 could offset the loss of Paxton . I would still hold on Duran, although you need to see the proposed deal, because he has shown the ability to improve year over year and is under control for a good while. But the real reason is he has the one thing that cannot be coached significantly and that is game changing speed. His 4 double night showed that impact. Singles become doubles, including legit singles + a SB. He should be in CF where he can get to more balls in deep corners , then hope he catches them. The Sox are otherwise a notoriously slow team including Casas, Turner, Devers and Yoshida , through the middle of the lineup. Duran on base in front of them makes a run producing difference. Duran's displayed attitude or lack of trying last year set off many fans and the organization , but that seems to be in the past now. Good for him
  4. On another limb and guessing that Paxton may have some minor difficulty today and still get the W for himself and team, which can certainly use the win. He's been out of his routine with the baby arriving, and may have concerns, given the baby, over the trade rumors which include his name. Relocating by month end , away from baby and wife, could make him only want to win 8-7. Big Maple has mental fortitude but never forget he is a proven MF.
  5. The majority of that scoring of 17 runs came in single inning bursts , built around walks, dinks/dunks/bloops and poor defensive plays ... Not saying we didn't deserve some breaks but an offensive outburst it was not. A win by any means is a win and good for us. A close look at the ABs over the past two games will show that in some respects the offense is still in a mild funk. The occasional double or Duran's triple, but no HR's . Our overall run differential is +19, better than only the Angels (+14), for American league teams at .500 or better W-L record. Getting Chang in the lineup doesn't help move the line much ( appreciate the defensive upgrade), Kike is marginal, Wong is tired, and Duvall is slow to come back. Despite the pitching mess of injuries, they are winning but could use better hitting than currently showing up , especially at home. Duval in last 15 games ( since returning) he is at .154/.493 OPS with 6 rbis . And he is sitting in Saturday's published lineup.
  6. Pitching continues to help this team keep their heads up. AL East getting tighter.
  7. This is the A's with some weak hitters, but the Bernadino-Pivetta combo is developing into a good replacement for a starter.
  8. Sox hitters in a funk again need to WTFU.
  9. Certainly no joy in seeing a former multi-Cy Young winner go out of his career on a sour note. And we could have used him.
  10. With Paxton going tomorrow, will Wong need to catch him or go to Alfaro? Wong will benefit greatly from the A-S break.
  11. Pivetta with 4 strong innings, maybe more (?) , and will get a week off until the guys reassemble at Cubs July 14
  12. Pivetta did not need yet another batter. I do think Raffy gets mind wandering in dull games. The Sox should not think this one is over quite yet
  13. A bad case of the redass, I'm sure. Do you need a note from the team Dr. to go on the IL. It gets a little suspect this time of year.
  14. Heinous, godawful, diabolically bad
  15. Going on a limb here, but that last one handed swing by Chang was a reaction to pain in his left wrist from the ridiculous swing on the prior pitch. I think he is hurting a bit now, and luckily doesn't have the hamate bone to break, but I bet it is still tender.
  16. If the Sox batters would take every pitch from Medina, the bases would be loaded again. Instead Luis is racking up K's despite giving up some runs
  17. Duvall not so sharp right now with the pitch recognition. He and Wong are chasing the only pitch Medina has .
  18. Thunder only has a chance at a ball up in the Monster if Ort comes in later, maybe Garza too.
  19. They have just done so, no worries tonight
  20. Who knew the Sox were a chop and run like hell team. The Wall has no new dents
  21. Wong's catching load will wear him out early.
  22. Mr 3-2, Walk is on again. Casas' OBP should be about.500 40 walks for a .329 OBP ? Leads team in K's at 75; 53 hits
