There are trades made after the deadline every year. Sox may still add someone who can help them. I trust Bloom to try to win this year. Once Schwarber's bat gets in the lineup its going to make a huge difference.

Per ESPN: Winner: Boston Red Sox Even before the deadline period, we knew that the biggest upgrade Boston was likely to make will happen when Chris Sale returns from the injured list and resumes his place as the Red Sox's unchallenged ace. Beyond that, it was a measured deadline approach for Chaim Bloom. But in landing the one additional bat his lineup needed in Kyle Schwarber, the Red Sox checked off the most important item on their deadline to-do list. Also, Hansel Robles is the kind of veteran reliever contending teams love to acquire, though his addition is a bit of a letdown after rumors suggested a possible reunion with Craig Kimbrel.

You mean Jay Groome? He of the 0-6 record and 5.16 ERA in A ball? That guy. Yep, that will turn things around.

I wish the Sox had picked up a pitcher but the price must have been excessive. Some times the best moves are the ones you don't make. I still have faith in this team. They have done it all year after starting 0-3.

The Sox are winning now. They are in first place.

Bloom has made some good moves. He signed Cora. Picked up Arroyo. Signed Hernandez. Got Whitlock from the Yankees for $50,000. Got Ottovino for nothing. Signed Renfroe. Signed Sawamura. Trade for Schwarber. The team is in first place. The farm system is getting better. Drafted probably the best player in the draft in Mayer. I think Bloom is doing an excellent job.

Duran will probably go to the bench and Verdugo will move to center. Schwarder or J.D. will play LF and the other will be the DH.
