If they are going to sanction a bench coach, why stop there. Why not all the coaches, the owners, GM, and the players. They were all part of it. Where does it stop? Fine the team, suspend the manager, take away some draft picks and ban them from signing international players for a year. -

Agree. It wasn't Cora's job to assemble the team. DD gave him no bullpen and the SP turned to crap. That is not Cora's fault. He may not have done as good a job as 2018 but he could have been a great manager in 2019 and not won with the roster he had. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t. -

I think there is a good chance that they trade JDM to Texas or the White Sox if they really want to get under 208 Million. I hope they don't. With him, they will be very competitive depending on what they do with Mookie. JBJ and Pedey make 24.75M between them. Geez! Wish they could get out of those. JBJ almost certainly is gone while Pedey will stay and collect his.

That is what everyone wants. By competitive, I hope you mean make the playoffs because two or three more years with no playoffs isn't going to sit well with Sox Nation. I'd be happy if they could get rid of Price and his whiny attitude.

Wish they could keep Brock but he will want too much money and they are cutting payroll. He is a glue guy but not a full time starter. I think he is gone. Maybe they can sign his son to a futures contract.

They should have went after Charlie Morton and Ottavino instead of Pearce and Eovaldi but hindsight is 20/20.

They aren't going to sign someone for 10M to take JBJ's place. They are cutting payroll. They will get a cheaper alternative. I would try to trade JBJ to the Cardinals for Harrison Bader. Bader is a really good CFer who hasn't hit yet but he is young and would be the type of guy to take a chance on. A change in scenery would do him good. He just needs confidence and the Green Monster. Bader is also cheap.

JBJ's defense is great. We all know that. But him making over 10 million a year is not worth the offensive production he gives the Sox. There are cheaper alternatives out there who can field and hit. They may not field as well but they will provide more consistent hitting. Maybe they put Benintendi in center and get a LF that can hit.

They have to keep Benintendi. I hope they dump JBJ for a cheaper alternative. Hopefully, somebody that can hit.

There is nobody in the farm system who can give them what JDM gives them.

I agree that the owners are equally responsible for 2019 with DD. They are his bosses. They have to be able to approve of major moves like Eovaldi, Sale, Price, Pearce, etc. Still, Sox fans are lucky to have won 4 championships since 2004. I remember the 60's-90's when it was agony. It could be worse. How many WS championships have the Yankees won since 2000?

I like the move. Bloom will be innovative and creative. He will build a farm system while having a title contending team. Hope he can find a way to get rid of Price but that will be hard to do.

First order of business, trade JBJ. Next try to sign Betts. If he rejects offer, trade him for as much as you can get. If Betts is traded, try to keep JDM. Then, get some reliable bullpen guys.

LMAO! Are your feelings hurt? You are so easy! Tough to get to the ALCS and win NOTHING! No World Series in this DECADE! Same as Seattle, Baltimore and other loser teams. Red Sox won two! Red Sox smoked the same Astros team the Yankees just lost to. The Red Sox are the defending World Series Champions. Yankees won't be saying that for a long time. (I hope.LOL).
