    Verdugo is a good, young player. With money saved they can get some other good players and still go after Mookie in free agency if they want to. Not having to hear Price whine is worth it alone.

    After thinking that they were cheated in 2017(they were) and 2018(they weren't), the Dodgers want to win NOW! They will get Betts and Price and they will give up Verdugo, among others. They have the money, the players and the desire. They want to win for Kobe this year.

    Yaz's deal would be 1M a year in today's dollars. A little different than 35 million a year. Yaz got a 3 year contract, not 12. Not a good comparison.

    Pedro's 75 million dollar contract in 1997 was for 6 years and is about 20 million a year in today's dollars. Yaz became the highest paid player at 167,000 per year in 1971, about 1M in today's dollars. That is a far cry from 35 million a year for 12 years. Apples to oranges. Not even a comparison.

    If the Sox met his price it would set the franchise back for 12 years. $35M a year for 12 years! That is nuts and terrible business. Goodbye Mookie.

    My son is a Cardinals fan. He was sad when Albert Pujols signed that 10 year deal with the Angels. He isn't now and hasn't been for a few years. The Angels are the ones who are sad about it. They have won nothing with him and they are still paying him big bucks when he is way past his prime.

    I want Mookie to stay but if he wants 35-40 million a year for 10 years, forget it. Trade him and get as much as possible for him.

    Those signings won the Sox a World Series. I know Victorino didn't pan out after 2013 but no one can deny that he played a HUGE role in the title. Remember his homer against the Tigers? One World Series title is worth it. The point is, championship teams can be built without paying one guy 40 million a year. How many WS titles do the Angels have with Trout? ZERO!!!!

    He will not re-sign with the Sox because they are not going to pay him the "crazy money" that he wants. The 2013 Sox proved that you can take $30 million and get 3 really good $10M players rather than have one making $30M.
