  1. When is Wright back in action?? It must be soon.
  2. Starting pitcher Blues, after that great early season. I hope the Sox have a fresh arm or two from Pawtaukett
  3. Sale can commiserate with Verlander... V throws 8 shutout innings against the potent Yanks, strikes out 14, and gets a NO DECISION.
  4. Yeah, true , but Kimbrel knows this too. Very well.
  5. Sale once again has a win blown. What's this guy gotta do to win a game. And what to hell is Alex Gordon doing hitting 9th in that lineup?
  6. Yeah, the only thing Holt has done "wrong" this year is get hurt (again). But it's still very early. Let's see where everyone's at at the half-way point...esp all our starters, and many of our position players (last year's history). The only player I have full confidence in right now as an improved player is ironically one who has played less than most--Bogaerts. He just looks better all around, and somehow I trust he will know how to keep it up. As to the third sport in the order, I don't care what the crazy, convoluted stats say, I want my number 3 hitter to someone who hits consistently in and around .300 , a .365 min obp, 20 minimum homers, lots of doubles, a true professional hitter knows how to get on and get people in. Amen amen
  7. 6-3 Road Trip. 19-5 and a few games at home ahead.
  8. How often does it happen that when the bottom of the order sets everything up for the top, the top fizzles. Our big chance to break out of the offensive slump and 1-2-3 hitters blow it.
  9. I agree. And why not be satisfied with a remarkable 2 out tie when the whole context points to a WIN with just a little patience in terms of stopping a runner and waiting on your best clutch and situational hitter to end it all in a couple more minutes.
  10. Now I feel bad about the loss again, because I agree with this argument, if accurately described.
  11. Thanks. I feel much better now---about the loss. I understood one out. Just another poor hitting night and another wasted starting performance.
  12. I missed the big play.. but why send Nunez with one out and Mookie coming up. That lost the game, or did Nunez go on his own??
  13. Wonderful to read that three of you have found ways to watch without commercials... I find ads unbearable wherever they appear, but exp those that extend games as in the Superbowl. (I do this same thing with movies I record) I have no cable so am tethered to the radio, except the 12-15 games a year that the Sox make the networks. The radio guys aren't bad, but I hate those stupid ads during the game itself. It can sometime be very confusing to hear a raised voice call, think it a homer, and find out it's an ad for some pizza house or car dealer.
  14. Nope, second place. This is one thing about this season I'm convinced of. 18-2 has a good ring to it. So does 22-2 but I think that team up in Canada will not permit that.
  15. Who needs JD, we've got JBJ
  16. 44 pitches of Pom 28 strikes, 4 outs
  17. All our losses are pitching breakdowns... this feels like the third. didn't expect it
  18. Well, Yanks lose anyway. Bring on V.
  19. Velazquez will be in soon. Good thing we have him around.
  20. JD gets rest against righty. He can pinch-hit, if necessary (ha) Lots of outfield defense. Looks like a Yank loss... I was going to say "bury them" but I know better. And each of these wins of ours will be breaking some kind of record. Pretty thrilling.
  21. Is that a midnite lecture or panel?? Or is it a long way home? If so it's on the radio.
  22. I'm glad Joe is gone from New York, because I really admire him, and of course, rooted against his team. As to Sox managers, not a hell of a lot to focus on. I guess I would say Joe Cronin... and I hope our current one, may last 10 years, and end up surpassing all his predecessors. (most of the Sox managers I liked a lot only had short stints and Francona was good but never impressive as a public presence or spokesman)
  23. With Hanley, I think it's a combo of Cora's confidence and green light hitting, and Hanley's playing for his contract option. Right now, even with key injuries, we seem loaded at almost every position. Both our losses were due to strange breakdowns--Kelly, and Price numbness. We are sure are reversing last year... onto Oakland.
  24. A very reassuring lineup. All tough outs, given Holt is facing a righty. I wouldn't want to have to face it. Is it possible that we score big again tonight?
  25. Pom, like Moreland and Nunez have turned out to be wise moves. All three have carried this team through portions of seasons... Moreland early last season, Nunez right after traded here, and Pom has been really as consistent as we cd hope for since we obtained him, despite nagging injuries.
