  1. I mean one way of looking at it is by position. LF - Duran same as last year CF- Rafaela same as last year RF - Anthony a full year out of him this should be a plus SS - Story same as last year 1B - Contreras this should be an improvement C Narvaez/Wong should be about the same as last year. DH - will likely be a big downgrade, but it has the capacity to be better in 2026 than it was for the second half of last year. The fall off could come from what we do at 3B/2B. Some combination of Mayer/Romy could actually end up being a plus at one of those positions. Which leaves the other to who? David Hamilton? The reality is, this team is one good IF move away from being very very very good.
  2. Well I don't agree with that at all. 🤣
  3. Me and you are completely on the same page with this
  4. I would, Shaw has a lot more team control left, is a plus defender and I think he’s going to be a plus bat too. Sox were in on Shaw in the draft and he was take one pick before them. Thats ok, Kyle Teel did lead to Crochet the second deal hell no. I’m not giving up that much just to get Masa off the roster. He has two years left just DFA him
  5. It's far less likely youre' going to agree on trade values when you're swimming in a smaller pool.
  6. I think the concept of trading Duran for IF seems less logical now. Most teams that are looking to buy MLB ready players are less willing to give up MLB players. They are in win now mode and want to spend prospects. It always made more sense to trade one of the 4 outfielders, and then separately trade for IF. I think the later is still likely, but the former not so much so. I think they're going to ride with Yoshida on the bench and the 4 OFers playing and DHing. Which in the absence of a big bat addition in the infield is likely needed for the lineup.
  7. Either Cora is lying or you’re missing something. Devers explicitly said the organization talked to him about it, he didn’t say who. but you really think the owner of the team is going to fly into town during an away series because a player switching positions has become such a massive issue, AND CORA WAS there and they didn’t have a conversation? You really think Cora was sitting in on that meeting and was like “oh wow we want to move Devers to 1B” the owner flew into town because it was such a massive ordeal and his own manager didn’t talk to Devers about it????? come on Red. There’s no permutation of this where that conversation is as not had.
  8. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/45074054/red-sox-owner-john-henry-meets-rafael-devers-remarks dude….its common f***ing sense. Come on man
  9. Wait hold on, so you seriously believe Cora had zero conversations with Raffy, and John Henry flew out to meet with him personally and that was the first of it? you serious believe that? Can’t see between the tea leaves at all here???
  10. Oh yeah my bad, but you know what I mean. Agree or disagree he was injured and out for the season, that’s what matters here
  11. So if Raffy wasn’t asked to move to 1B then he was traded because he was mean to reporters?
  12. Riiiiiiigt, so Raffy is just randomly a dick to the media then
  13. Different Season, Devers was the 3B then. They didn’t have to rely on Toro in the middle of a playoff run then
  14. Your starting first baseman blew out his ACL in the middle of the season. That’s blatantly different
  15. You know Cora was taking the fall for Raffy, he’s not going to publicly say “ yeah I asked him and he refused” they’d literally trade a guy before admitting that
  16. I can state my opinion and say we should be done with it too. the narrative that it was Cora is bull. Devers was asked about it and was obviously annoyed suggesting “what are the going to do ask me to pitch next” which was obviously absurd and uncalled for. i don’t buy the whole spring training narrative. I firmly believe that the vast majority of teams, if not every single one of faced with a first baseman blowing out his knee, zero depth at 1b, plenty of other options in the OF would of asked their star hitter who most had pegged for a first baseman to switch over to first. maybe it doesn’t stick, maybe he’s no good there, but in the absence of a player throwing a hissy fit. Every team would have made that decision. Nobody wants Toro as their everyday first baseman. look we all got opinions. Y’all wanna say Raffy wasn’t a baby for not moving that’s fine, that’s your opinion. But denying it wasn’t the logical baseball move that any team would have made is absurd.
  17. I say this as someone who is 100000x more of a fan of Raffy than John Henry. he was not a good teammate by refusing to pick up a first baseman’s glove. its not like it was unsolicited, CaSAs went down with a horrible injury. To me that’s the difference
  18. I agree, up until Casas was hurt. because Devers not moving over. That meant Toro as our first baseman. that was obviously NOT the best lineup
  19. It’s also not a zero sum game. It can both be true that management mishandled the Raffy situation in the offseason and he was a bad teammate for not moving over and putting himself first. again. Absolutes…don’t be a sith
  20. I think people just like Raffy and admitting he was wrong or being a bad teammate by not moving over is a threat towards their feelings about him. its not. it can both be true that he was a good player and you can like him and STILL have issue with him not doing what was easily and obviously best for the team when Casas went down. its ok. We dont have to live in a world of absolutes. Only Sith Lords deal in absolutes
  21. The point is for that money obviously no one viewed him as a 3B
  22. So different, 90 feet over and fielding balls from a different angle and playing catch. Thats too much to ask for for $30 million a year. Bull f****ng s*** dude. He screwed the team. We could of had a better lineup without Toro in it. BTW WHAT POSITION is Devers playing this year????? EDIT: sorry, with Toro OUT of the lineup
  23. If your boss calls and asks you to pick up a shift because someone got hurt he might be a dick…. But not for asking you to do your job.
  24. Given what he signed for I think it’s blatantly obvious no one wanted him.
  25. Obviously no one else wanted him either, did you people ever stop to think why???
