  1. I win!!!!!!
  2. For a while I was all about bWar, then I was “well BWar is good for position players and Fwar better for pitchers”. I just think Fwar is better now. I actually still prefer baseball reference for looking up player stats, but fangraphs has some functions BR does not, and Fwar is better
  3. Same thing that could happen if Teel starts off cold or Anthony. What if Anthony takes a big step back like Yorke did? I don’t think that’s going to happen though.

No. I think maybe they’re a .500 team Senga + Schwarber maybe add 4 wins. Not sure how much of an over upgrade Schwarber is over Yoshida because the step down in defense is bad. According to fangraphs it’s about a 1/2 war. Let’s round that up to a win. You probably win 3-4 more games with Senga and maybe lose 1 less with Kluber gone. Maybe a slightly better team breeds a better mentality and less of a September dip? And they add even 5 more wins. 87 wins still doesn’t get them a wild card, but it gets you close. This is of course….. the insanely subjecting.
  5. Has this been a quick process? how long should it be taking???
  6. Yes, it looks like he was not asked back for a second interview. We are one step closer to a new GM/CBO. This news seems like pretty normal stuff aside from everything else that has been going on.
  7. My money is on Anthony or Mayer getting the call first. I think Teel gets a full year in the minors and makes a debut sometime in 2025.
  8. But what if Mayer starts off hot too?
  9. am I missing a joke here, or are you guys saying that despite reporting to the contrary that Levine has declined an offer to interview?
  10. I was going to say, I trust speier, and in this case, the globe.
  11. It also does not sound like they're going to flip Mayer with Anthony. I also don't think they're going to move Abreu up, I think they already did since the season ended, I think he stays at 12, maybe he moves to 11. Not sure what they do with Bonaci, we don't know how serious this is or isn't. Also no way Monegro makes that kind of jump. I don't think we see a lot of movement at all, outside of the AFL not much has happened since the last rankings.
  12. Breslow is considered the front runner currently. Looks like I might be batting at least .500 https://www.bostonglobe.com/2023/10/23/sports/red-sox-reportedly-narrow-field-candidates-head-baseball-operations-job/?event=event25
  13. No it's not, but hypothetically you could sign him and still have 30-40 million to spend. I don't know how to best spend $80 million dollars per annum, only that I would love to have that much money in my budget.
  14. Given the recent trends of last place finishes and the pathetically massive gaping hole that exists in what is supposed to be an MLB rotation, I'd be very disappointed if the Sox didn't spend a decent chunk of that $80 million on pitching. I want talent. Not back of the rotation starters, or guys who have pitched more than 113 innings one time in their careers and are in their 30's but that's just me. Yama/Ohtani/Snell/Nola/Montgomery. Not saying it's realistic but I want two of those, I think we are spoiled enough as fans of a large market team to expect the Sox to go after one of those names. Damn the past 4 years, John Henry needs to be slapped in the face and reminded that 3/4 of his World Series came with a top 3 payroll.
  15. Grow up Robert Gronkowski.
  16. Hey put whatever names you want in there. My point is, Sox could have around $80 million to spend if they want.
  17. SO the Sox have 69 million to spend, hypothetically. If you assume they will go over the luxury tax and are willing to go up against the next threshold that's their top budget. Probably need a few million to account for promotions, trades etc etc. Call it 60 million. Depending on how you spend that money and other transactions you make, that $60 million grows. If you're signing Yamamoto and Aaron Nola (for example) you can make the argument to trade away Nick Pivetta, and if you end up trading for a guy like Soto, or some other move that involves moving Verdugo that's another $9 million off the books. Also, I think there's a good chance that the Sox non-tender Urias. Now you have more like $80.00 to play with.
  18. brevity is the soul of wit. f*** John Henry
  19. Maybe they can make a reality tv show about it. Who wants to be the next Red Sox G.M.
  20. I’m not saying I was the only one but I remember taking a lot of flake for even suggesting Nate get offered a QO. I would have preferred him back on a 1 year anyways if he did accept. Would have been a good deal
  21. Sh shh shh shhhhhh 🤫 let him sleep.

I would have been ok with it. There’s more than one way to skin a cat. But, hindsight again is 20/20 Dalbec was looking pretty good at the end of 2021

I’m also not so certain anyone on this site has said defense doesn’t matter. As a matter of fact the people salivating over Schwarber are the ones who don’t value defense enough because he was literally the worse outfielder in all of baseball the past 2 years.

Would still rather have Schwarber than Yoahida at DH. But that means trading JDM in the 2022 offseason. Which seems fine in hindsight

Dude, back In august of 2021 you were leading the charge against the trade. Bloom was dumb, gave us crap, and trades for Injured garbage. It’s almost as if…..:peoples opinions are emotionally charged because they watched a game last night.
