  1. What about hitting costs? does Henry refuses to part with money there too?
  2. So Sale was healthy and not injury plagued seemingly year after year for the last 4 years? I would love to have him back here, but the fact of the matter is if he was a free agent this past offseason he'd fit that exact description.
  3. Didn't this describe Sale perfectly until this year???
  4. He's the next Babe Ruth.
  5. Mariners need bats. BTV accepts Mayer/Abreu for Kirby. Seattle should do this.
  6. I'll just keep it there until I'm right and claim victory!!!
  7. Burnes Beiber Houck Giolito Bello Crawford/5th swing by the end of next year. You could probably swing that and stay under the luxury tax if you wanted......if you wanted.
  8. Yup, forgots about him.
  9. Walker Buehler and Shane Bieber have to be on the Sox radar. Formerly aces, coming off of an injury, will probably sign a 1-2 year deal to rebuild value. That feels more John Henry's taste than Burnes. But if I was crowned Empreror of Boston I'd sign one of those guys and Burnes. Burnes Houck Bello Crawford Criswell/Fitts/Preister/someone else. With Beiber coming back mid season. I'm sure this won't happen. Sox seemingly don't have to spend a dime on position players, they have roughly $62.00 million to spend before going over the cap. This is the part where I'm supposed to say they will spend big on pitching because not only is there a need but there's seemingly nowhere else to put the money. But no one seems better than spending their money and making it look like they didn't spend any money than John Henry. A bench bat, a bullpen arm, a fringey starting pitcher, an extension and a reclamation project all adding up to 40-50 million dollars.
  10. I'm sure I have one of the biggest potty mouths on here, but if the rule was no swearing I'd happily abide.
  11. Mariners need hitting. Sox need pitching. Seems like a match up to me.
  12. That package gets you one of those guys, not 2. I also don't think Jansen will be resigned. I know BTV isn't everything, but it has a total value of 175 going to Boston vs. 72 to Seattle. That's very lopsided. EDIT: just re-read your post and you said OR!!!!!! Kirby. ......my bad.
  13. Not going to post it all, but we're effectively in the 18-20th range on a lot of things. What I find interesting is the xFIP where we are 9th. The pitching isn't great, but two things have made it worse. Homeruns, and bad defense. That's what has killed the pitching staff.
  14. It would do the fans much better if these guys learned to be good here.
  15. I became a Red Sox fan in 1993 watching Scott Cooper make a diving play at 3B.
  16. I think it would help if threads stayed on topic. For example, we have a thread about the Chris Sale trade that has lasted way too long and gets way too much attention. Half that stuff could go into the realistic thread (which is pretty much a general thread) or perhaps even start one about the 2024(5) rotations.
  17. Yup, wow. I didn't realize it had been only 8 years. Feels longer.
  18. I mean 3 last place finishes in 4 years? Maybe the system hasn’t been working that great.
  19. I’m currently at a “business” lunch. When I get back in the office I’ll check. I forget when they shut down. I thought it was over a decade ago. Feels so long, like a distant dream.
  20. Despite the name they do talk about the big league club, but it’s certainly more geared towards the farm system. To be honest I probably should expand my horizons as I’ve been more about soxprospects. But I recently started listening to Section 10 and I’m instantly a big fan. They swear a lot.
  21. I’ve been here for over a decade after the great migration from Boston.com I thoroughly enjoy the insight and the banter from everyone on here, even from the people that butt heads with. I promise I don’t hate anyone, I’m just a brash A$$ hat sometimes. We are all part of Red Sox nation and ultimately want the same thing. The next World Series win. I welcome the changes and look forward to what’s to come. I also love the expansion into social media.
  22. You don't have to bring an 18 year old up, jump him ahead FOUR levels, burn a 40 man spot and screw up his development to go out and trade for pitching. Especially when you have a top prospect in the game who should be ready next season. Probably could play now if they really wanted him too.
  23. Yeah, but have they ever done it with an 18 year old a month out of the complex league? Even half as extreme measures often end badly.
  24. You make it sound like no big deal....yet no one does this? why?
