Yup, which is why you're right and I'am wrong. TODAY But in two weeks from now? We shall see. I'll say this, to reiterate my point from before that I think are debate here highlights beautifully....this is exactly why teams don't sell early, and wait until up at the deadline.

I don't know either, and I can't think of a player drafted ever being a PTBNL, but then again I don't follow other teams prospects that get traded that much AND you'd think a player just drafted is going to hold a lot more value to the drafting team. Not really the kind of guy you trade.

Sometimes I try to think of things worked out differently. For example, Jeter Downs at SS/2B and a premium bat would look pretty damn good right now. Bloom at least had the right ideal in mind, it just didn’t work out. What does this team need the most right now? A starting pitcher and RHH bat up the middle. What if Grissom was healthy and playing like a lot of the experts thought he could? And what if Gio was healthy and pitching like a middle of the rotation starter? This doesn’t make it a good trade or justify it in anyway. And many years of team control allow the capacity for it to work out but right now you certainly have to put it in the loss column for Breslow. Point is, you can see the line of thinking in why those moves were made.

By this logic most teams are in it and most teams will be buyers or at least not sellers. I’m not saying you’re wrong and I am right, but if you have the 8th worse record in baseball, then unless things turn around in the next two weeks you have to at least consider selling. Regardless, this conversation highlights a very important point. This is EXACTLY why trade deadline deals typically happen closer to the deadline. Most teams in Texas like territory are still trying to figure out if they’re buyers or sellers. People often are critical of trades not being swung in June, the first week of July or sooner. Well this is why…….teams that are sellers aren’t sellers yet.

The Rangers have the 8th worse record in baseball, if they're not sellers then there aren't too many teams selling, also a lot can change in 2 weeks. If the Sox lose 12 in a row they probably aren't buying anymore.

Yeah but you’re equating him to MLBers who are expected to contribute. It’s his job to develop, he’s about 3 years away from contributing to the majors in a meaningful way

As long as it’s not a highschool pitcher I like Yesavage but I want Rainer. Montgomery on the board still but I don’t like his swing and miss.

Really starting to look like one of Rainer/Griffin/Yesavage will be there for 12 unless they go 9-10-11 Trey Yesavage would make the fans happy, as he is a pitcher. Those were my top 3 preferences going into today

Is that really the issue? Sox offer guys like Mayer for pitching and teams don’t want him? Or is it the Sox don’t want to swing a trade? I wouldn’t fret so much about it if the Sox show they can develop a starter

Hard rumors that LAA going with more, and if doesn’t go there I think Washington takes him. So it doesn’t matter anyways

The fact that they didn’t do something doesn’t mean they can’t. Sox could have signed Ohtani, or Max Scherzer once upon a time. With that said. Yesavage would be a fine pick
