  1. A tale of two Sox' GMs : Dombrowski : Year one : Took over a last place team . Won A.L. East. Year two: Won A.L. East again. Year three: Threepeat in A.L. East . 108 wins. 11-3 in the post season ( vs three really good teams) on the way to a Championship. Generally considered one of the all time great teams. Year four: Neglected the bullpen. Fell to third in A.L. East. Summarily fired. Criticism: Decimated the farm................. Bloom : Year one : Took over third place team. Finished in cellar. 16 games out in abbreviated season. Year two: Tied for second , 8 games out. Won " play in " game and had nice post season run before falling short in ALCS. Year three: As of August 3 , In last place , 17 games out . Still in contention for third wild card. Credit: Rebuilding the aforementioned " decimated " farm. That's it. No opinion. No spin. No excuses. Just the facts.
  2. These days , it is hard to get people to agree on anything. But when it comes to baseball announcers , it is close to unanimous , Vin Scully was the GOAT.
  3. Discussing the pros and cons of Bloom , Cora , Dombrowski , etc. is " baseball stuff ". Saying " Hey Dummy " or calling folks " clowns " is not . It's the personal insults that I was referring to. They have nothing to do with baseball. There is a difference between personal insults and a little back and forth about Sox management. Moonslav saying he has " disdain " for a player is okay. A little needling of Bloom and his supporters is not okay. Just trying to understand your ground rules . By the way , I enjoy Old Red's contributions . I don't have anyone on ignore . I am not easily offended . I won't be offended at all if you put me on ignore . Have a nice day.
  4. Max.B. starts a reply to Old Red with , " Hey Dummy " and you say nothing. All the condescending and smart ass stuff from a few on here and you say nothing. But I'm taking shots at folks who have given up on the season already ? Give me a.break Bellhorn.
  5. Gary Cohen , Dar!ing and Keith Hernandez.
  6. The Sox didn't do much , but Pham and Hosmer are an improvement from what we have seen. Just a couple.of more wins and the quitters and doubting Thomases will be climbing back on board the wild card train.
  7. The Met's crew is the best I have seen.
  8. I was all for signing Rizzo last year. Too late now. But at least with Hosmer you will see quality first base play. The infield will benefit. And he should.be able to take advantage of the wall in left. It was a good move.
  9. Someone gave them bad directions. Going from Orsillo to O'Brien put them on the wrong road.
  10. Braves get Iglesias from the Angels.
  11. Bloom is not exactly Mr. Excitement. He was absent when charisma was handed out. Deadline day for the Sox was vintage Bloom . Low key and mostly quiet.
  12. I think the McGuire jokes have more than run their course. They have been beaten to death. Time to let it go. ( No puns intended ) .
  13. Duran has to be thought of in terms of potential. He has the potential to be an exciting , dynamic player. Obviously , he has to show it pretty soon.
  14. Here is the thing about being reluctant to trade prospects: .There are plenty more where they came from. Latin America is a hotbed of baseball. Kids down there play ball the way U.S. kids play video games . There is , and will be , a steady stream of good , young prospects coming along every year. Right now , there are plenty of talented 14 and 15 year olds working hard for their big chance at a good life. You never heard of them as yet , but you soon will be calling them " prospects ".
  15. I would guess it was something else.
  16. I could be mistaken ,but this looks like the wildest , most active trade deadline in memory.
  17. He does seem like a pretty volatile guy. The bloody brawl outside a strip club was pretty ugly.
  18. Bloom and the Red Sox handled the Vazquez situation poorly. There is no getting around that. That said , Vaz is a big boy. He will get over it . These guys know what they are signing up for.
  19. The Dodgers may be grasping at straws after losing out to San Diego on Soto. Gallo looks.like a guy who has lost all confidence in his ability to hit a baseball. But you never know. He does have power..And there is the old , " change of scenery " thing , etc.
  20. It will be interesting to see how the Yanks handle the Judge situation.. And how it compares to how the Sox handled Mookie's.
  21. It's all good.
  22. There is nothing to complain about here. The Sox get a quality first baseman for apparently very little money. How can anyone not be happy ? Sometimes, folks get into such a down mood that nothing pleases them.
  23. Pretty sure Kaycee will okay that one. And say what you will about Homer , he represents a major upgrade here.
  24. It would be good if we stuck to baseball. Honestly , this site is getting a little too annoying. I am pretty easygoing , but this stuff takes up too much space . And it never ends .
  25. J.D. has been a big part of this team for five years. He deserves more respect than he gets on on this site.. Same for Eovaldi.
