  1. We can all speculate . Mookie is quoted as saying that he would have stayed had the Sox matched the Dodgers' offer. That is what I am going by. Henry may have hired Bloom with the instructions to trade Mookie. That is possible , but we may never know.
  2. Notin, think whatever you want. You were the first to bring it up. I just responded. But that's okay. Think whatever you want.
  3. I am not going after anybody. Why do you keep saying that? And using terms like " blind " and "irrational " . Those are not my words. It just confirms my feeling that any criticism of Bloom is taken personally by some of his supporters. And that's okay. I think , when a team is in last place at this point of the season , the GM is fair game. That is all I am saying . I am definitely not " going after " you or anyone else. Please knock that stuff off.
  4. I have heard all the talking points both pro and con. My feeling is that they could have and should have found a way to sign him. If I thought they did that and he still walked away , I could accept it. But I think they gave up too quickly. No sense going through this again.
  5. Not overrun . Not blind followers. Just about a half dozen folks who are almost always defending Bloom and all of his moves or lack of moves. To me , results matter. And when you are the guy in charge , it's on you. The Sox are in last place. Going by what I have seen posted so far , my feeling is that another bad season in 2023 will not change their opinion. They thought Bloom was a good hire , they like his philosophy and they are not about to change. I just want to see the team win . I hope the Sox win the A.L. East next year and all the debate goes away. I really don't enjoy this stuff.
  6. I liked Lee. I hated to see him traded. But he could be a headache to a manager. As for Mookie , trading him will go down in infamy . One of the worst decisions ever. The Lee trade is in no way comparable.
  7. Amen . That is all we hear so far . I don't see it changing should the team struggle next year.
  8. I will say this , the mood of the many Sox fans that I know is very different than what is posted on here by about a half dozen folks who think that Bloom is doing well and being unfairly criticized . This is three years in . Sox Nation is restless. And I do get the sense that , should the team falter next year , we will hear more excuses and that 2024 is the big test. Again , just going by what I see on here and how much it contrasts to the feelings of most Sox fans.
  9. Last night's game was about as ugly an exhibition of baseball as you are going to see.
  10. Just going by what I see posted here.
  11. Bill Lee was a good pitcher and was/is quite a character. And this just in ; MLB has issued a statement that the tape of last night's game/debacle will definitely not be going to Cooperstown. It has been incinerated before it could do any further harm to the sport.
  12. I'm not so sure about that.
  13. I don't know if John Henry still has the same amount of interest in the Red Sox. Very seldom do we see or hear from him .
  14. Some things are possible, but not very realistic. Might be better to call it " The 2022 season " or something like that.
  15. A strong case could be made that a change in leadership is needed. This has not been working.
  16. Go to the ballpark or watch the game on tv . Watch a Little League game if you want . Have a beer and a hot dog . You are supposed to be enjoying it all. Don't spend so much time trying to analyze everything. Or you can spend hours on fangraphs and find out that a guy has a 3.5 fwar so he is .7 better than the guy with the 2.8 fwar. Whatever that is supposed to mean . You can enjoy the game and applaud a guy making a great play or you can skip the game and spend your time looking up the UZR ratings. Your choice.
  17. This is Bloom's third year at the helm . And the ship is floundering off course.
  18. Injuries are a loser's excuse. Just win.
  19. The most important eye test is always a look at the standings of the clubs. That is what matters. If you are in last place , what does it matter what your fwar may be ?You can look at pages and pages of stats until your head spins , but the standings are still the bottom line. Of course it is always more fun to watch a ball game than to spend the time on a nerd baseball website.
  20. Interesting series coming up. The Orioles are an improved team , but it really is just an improvement from terrible to mediocre. They were deadline sellers and it is starting to show. They have slowly been slipping and sliding out of even the dumb third wild card spot. The Sox need to sweep this series . And if they play well , that is doable..On the other hand , an Oriole sweep would probably be a kill shot..
  21. No , no . I was just responding to Moon saying that the family was going hungry .
  22. To me , if you do something deliberately , you can't then use it as an excuse for what comes next . I am not equipped to discuss negotiations between GMs , but it seems to me that if you are trading someone of the caliber of Mookie Betts , you might try to persuade the other GM to take Price and his full contract .
  23. While we own twelve yachts .
  24. Bloom agreed to pay half his salary ..
  25. That is beside the point .
