  1. Maybe Kayceee , told Hosmer , " Wait a minute honey , I don't want to go to D.C. "
  2. Bloom has a very loyal group of supporters on here. If things go bad , they will throw any player under the bus. They are even willing to throw Cora under that bus. They gladly threw Dombrowski under. But Bloom is untouchable. No matter what.
  3. Fans seem to have taken to Verdugo okay. He had some pretty unsavory stuff in his.background.
  4. Padres getting both Soto and Bell from the Nats. Beat the Dodgers to the punch. Talk about a team going all in !!!
  5. Here is my take on the deadline : If you had to win the division , it would be over . Sell. If there was one wild card , it would be about over , Sell . But , as much as I hate having three wild cards , that is the situation right now. Why not take a shot at it ? The competing teams all are flawed . It is not all that impossible. And even if you don't think the post season is a total crapshoot , you have to admit that anything is possible. Don't sell off . Pick up a couple of guys who can help to grab a spot in the playoffs. Let the team know that you believe.
  6. Mancini to the Astros. Dodgers reportedly all in on Soto. Yanks get Montas and Trevino.
  7. I don't think that applies only to the bullpen . You could say the same about the starting rotation or any position on the field . The bottom line is that you need quality. You could go after established guys with a track record or you can be a good judge of talent and find the lower priced diamonds in the rough. But this Sox bullpen is just not good. It has taken them out of way too many games. There is no getting away from that.
  8. Rogers is no Hader, but he is pretty decent. As we could see this weekend , the Brewers' set up man , Devin Williams , has closer' s stuff.
  9. Harm , Since Seattle decided they are all in and acquired Castillo , the injuries have started . In the words of the inimitable John Sterling , " That's baseball , Suzyn. " It can be a cruel game. Good luck.
  10. It was in reference to Bloom and his performance in his third year at the helm. The thread is titled " Fire Bloom ". I'm not necessarily in favor of firing him , but I do find it odd that some think he is doing a good job and warrants their loyalty. I just cannot agree with that. Results matter. Or at least they should.
  11. I think I am in league with the majority of Red Sox Nation when I say that I want to.see results . Tired of hearing excuses. On here , we have folks who have excuses for everything. The misfortunes that have happened to the Sox , happen to other teams as well. Enough with the excuses. This is a proud , big time franchise. Let's stop with the excuses . Let's see some results. And it starts at the top.
  12. My biggest problem with Bloom is , and has been, the bullpen. You simply cannot overstate the importance of a bullpen in baseball today. One of the main reasons for the improvement of the Orioles has been their bullpen. No big names , but a group of really good lock down relievers. The Red Sox continue to go with a rag tag ,hit or miss bunch. And it shows. Our saves leader has a total of six saves going into August . The runner up has three. The pen has blown leads again and again. I don't know what Bloom' s philosophy for building a bullpen is , but whatever it is , it' s not working . And that needs to be addressed. I actually feel sorry for Cora as he tries to mix and match and try to get some results out of this crew.
  13. All the GMs like to.play it close to the vest leading up to the deadline. The mlbtraderumors site doesn't help much. They seldom have a scoop. Just report the deals after they hit the wire. We will.just have to be patient .
  14. Bloom has not said much , but I'm pretty sure he must have a plan in place for deadline moves. I don't think it makes any sense to change your course , one way or another , based on the results of the.next couple of games. No doubt the whole thing is tough on the players , not knowing where you are going to be working and living three days from now. But that's what they sign up for.
  15. All GMs deal with various problems. Excuses can always be made. The fact is that this is Bloom's third year at the helm . The Sox are in the cellar , 18 games behind the Yankees . There is just no getting around that.
  16. After a seemingly never ending drought , the Mariners' apparently think that the team's recent play means they have a shot at the brass ring.. Looks like they have decided to go for it . And to get an in demand guy like Castillo , you have to make the best offer. Of course , now you will have folks , who never heard of these young prospects before yesterday , knowingly saying how it was an overpay. That's how it goes. As always , time will be the judge . Good luck .
  17. I don't care for that expression either , but it and similar or worse things have been used on here ,by mostly popular posters , without any objection. We need to be consistent and not selective with things.
  18. My own opinion is that posters like Swi's Ghost , MADSTORK, JDavis and a couple of others bring something different to a sometimes boring forum .A little controversy , humor ( maybe not funny to all ) and a little tweaking and ball breaking ( mostly lighthearted) . Nothing to get all bent out of shape over. Personally, I never put anyone on ignore. And , except for posting something really egregious, disgusting or clearly offensive , I don't think anyone should be banned. As for the rest of you , my advice would be , lighten up , have a little fun with it all and please don't take yourselves or the forum so seriously. Just my take. You don't have to like it , and I'm sure some won't. Have a nice day.
  19. You can like it or not like it , but Bloom is going to be remembered as the.guy who.traded Mookie. That is not something I would want on my record.
  20. There is no point in rehashing and comparing , for the umpteenth time , the first three years of Dombrowski's and Bloom's tenures. That horse has been interred at Calumet Farms. It's history. Let it rest.
  21. jad , I think that's twice now. Be careful. Your health comes first. Might be better to ignore me.
  22. Thanks. I think that when you are the boss , you have to be responsible for the results . Excuses , spin , blaming others , etc just doesn't cut it.
  23. There is a small but very active group of posters who , for their own reasons, love and are very loyal to Chaim Bloom . They were thrilled when he was hired and continue to support him. I call them the PBA , Protect Blooms Ass. Unfortunately, the results have not been there. They are now giving all the usual excuses. They tout last season as a roaring success . But it really wasn't . Now the team has regressed. Unlike them , Red Sox Nation is not satisfied. These average type fans are not " deep thinkers" . They don't spend a lot of time on BTV and fangraphs websites. But they want to see good baseball. And , right now , they know they are not seeing it. And they are not happy. No matter how you spin it , Bloom is the man in charge. He has to be accountable for the situation . And the situation is not good , in the cellar and 18 games behind the Yankees. I don't think he will be fired , but it should certainly be under consideration.
  24. With 62 games still to be played, it is interesting ( and a little surprising) how few posters are interested in making a couple of acquisitions that might give the team a shot at gaining admission to the triple wild card crapshoot that is today's post season.
  25. There is no question that the Sox are still in the hunt for one of the wild cards. But as we near the end of July , they are a whopping 17 games behind the Yankees. I do think that is not too good or something to feel good about. Not a good job by any means.
