  1. Well , That's how it is . I am one of the detractors. I can see no good reason to support him.
  2. Using injuries as an excuse is extremely lame. All teams have injuries.
  3. My opinion of Alex Cora is that he is a good manager . Not the best manager , but a good one. I think he is kind of caught in the middle of the rancor between Sox management and the players , fans and media. He is doing his best to keep things calm and try to win with what he has been given. I would not like to see him leave.
  4. We have here a few ardent Bloom supporters who will continue to back him no matter what happens and no matter what anyone else says. I am sure they have their reasons. Everyone else is fair game to be ripped and tossed under the bus. But not Chaim Bloom. I do not think most of Red Sox Nation falls into that category. They just want to see results and some good baseball. They are not seeing that and they are not happy about it. Bloom is the man in charge . This is his third year. It is perfectly fair to hold him accountable.
  5. Where they play in the outfield is not the big problem. The main problem has been the lack of offense they have provided.
  6. Homer just happened to fall into their lap. He vetoed the trade to Washington and San Diego was desperate to move him after getting Josh Bell.
  7. There is a human element involved that advanced analytics does not factor in . In that sense , trading Vazquez was a mistake.
  8. I don't kill Bloom for the JBJ trade. You take a shot . Sometimes it doesn't work. You move on. I do blame him for the bullpen. Any objective observer could see this was a problem from Day one. He should have done more .
  9. Mookie should never have been let go . You simply have to find the money to pay him . This is a big time franchise. The money they are paying Story and Barnes alone would cover it. The excuses given are very lame. Please don't tell me that you traded a Hall of Fame talent to save half of Price's contract. There is no way to justify this.
  10. There is obviously some unrest in the clubhouse. There is no getting away from that. I think the annual trade deadline stuff is very stressful for the players. And apparently there were issues even prior to that. But it is nothing compared to the old Yankees. The George , Billy and Reggie show. As a Sox fan , that was fun to watch.
  11. It's now reported that they had a team meeting today with Bloom in attendance.. Apparently trying to clear the air. So , obviously there were problems in the clubhouse.
  12. The boys down at Clancy's send their regards. They are not too happy with things either.
  13. I think Cora relates to the players and will do his best to keep things under control. I think the players do like playing for Cora , but are disgruntled with the front office. And there is nothing better than a series with the Royals to improve spirits all around . But the Sox had better be careful not to alienate guys like Bogaerts and Devers..
  14. Vaz thrown under the bus again .
  15. Notin , If you look back , you will find that my post was in response to Elktonnick . He had posted that this board was very pro Bloom and folks took umbrage with anything that was critical of Bloom. Of course I talk baseball. Are you just trying to goad me ? Why ?
  16. Max , I'm just guessing , but my thinking is that you knew nothing about Bloom when he was with the Rays. Probably never even heard of him most of that time. My problem with Bloom is that the Red Sox are in last place , 17 games behind the Yankees. I don't think that is too good.
  17. All.MLB owners are deep pocketed. It's just a matter of how much they are willing to spend on the ballclub.
  18. Whether Friedman is spending wisely or not is a matter of opinion. What is not a matter of opinion is that the Dodgers have the best record in MLB.
  19. It's only a few posters, but they are very prolific. They almost take any criticism of Bloom personally. I have never seen such blind loyalty shown to any GM, manager or player. It is strange. They are very willing to throw anyone under the proverbial bus to defend Bloom. The Sox performance during his tenure so far does not warrant any praise or loyalty. It's just odd.
  20. Makes me sad. A lot of good memories of JBJ. That's life.
  21. And under the bus goes Vazquez. Didn't take long. Move over Benintendi. Who's next?
  22. Here is the bottom line : The Sox are in last place . 17 games behind the Yankees . That is not a good job and not acceptable to most Red Sox fans.
  23. Serious comprehension issues ? Not at all insulting. Perfectly okay.
  24. Every GM has a budget . How it is spent is what matters. There is no use crying about old contracts . Every team that takes risks has them. This year , we are paying Story about 22 mil. Hill - 5 mil. Wacha - 7 mil. Barnes - 9 mil. That is 43 mil right there. Are we getting our money's worth ? Could that money have been better spent ?
  25. I did criticize Dombrowski for neglecting the bullpen. As far as the contracts , that's how it goes. Sale and Eovaldi were our best pitchers. Injuries happen. It's easy to second guess contracts. Price was traded , along with our best player , for a mediocre return. Strictly a money saving move. You can't complain about getting nothing from Price as he is no longer here . I gave no criticism at all.of Bloom. Not even for trading a future Hall of Famer. I think it was a simple comparison of the two GMs.
