  1. With a knuckleball pitcher on the staff both have experience of catching that pitch. That can't be overlooked as well.
  2. I agree. I think they want Swihart behind the plate everyday at Pawtucket. Just getting everyday AB's and catching. Sandy Leon will get his shot again for the moment. If he stumbles and Swihart rakes down there. He will be here very soon. I wouldn't platoon him. They see him as the full time catcher eventually.
  3. I also think with the starting pitching and bullpen improved, add that with PAPI gone..... More one run games. If Kimbrel is the Kimbrel I think he is ,we will see him close a ton of games. It's just what Bellhorn said on his second line are O will be fine but or D and overall pitching will be very good. I still say that even with Price coming back in late May or early June. That's pure speculation on my part. JMO
  4. If that is what James projects , Hernandez should and will make it. The only problem is if Panda can't hit LHP, He may use Rutledge @ third. Of course they can carry both of them along with Holt, and break camp with the 4 starters Farrell is hinting about. That might open up a spot for him. I have a hunch about this kid. The board members on this board know more about him. IMO he might be a useful piece.
  5. The only thing I look at from spring training is..... Players getting in shape for the real games. Players who are injured getting their form back. Battles for spots if any Plus that one surprise in camp . The kid or man who makes the team , when they said was no chance.
  6. Yes. The deal should have not been made. DD could've backed out. He didn't do it. DD could have made two mistakes into one trade.
  7. I was watching the Baseball Show on Comcast Boston last night. They raised some good points on the show.... DD trades/signings Price - DL arm Smith - TJS Pomeranz- arm Thornburg- dead arm Abad- didn't do much in AUG/SEPT. lost his job (Scott)
  8. I suggested this near the end of last season but you and others objected. Buch had runs of effectiveness and even dominance. This guy is more like Henry Owens with a blip of success on his record. Good thing we have so much starter depth! Losing Clay you can handle. With Pomeranz being damaged goods is not.
  9. I said during the off season it should be Vazquez/ Swihart . This is just a guess they might be looking at Leon again. Will he hit again or hit 0.44 since September 15 th of last year. When all is said and done he will be one of the two catchers for the Red Sox this year.
  10. Because the GM likes Rutledge. The manager likes Holt.
  11. Pomeranz left today's game with tricep soreness. Only pitching like four innings this spring. I think he may start the season on the DL. That is pure speculation on my part though. The Kendricks signing might come into effect here. But keep in mind he has an opt - out clause June 15 th. The month of June is a little while off but just thought I bring it up. After Pomeranz got the injection in the off season now he's got this going, I wonder if DD should have backed out of this deal when he had the chance.
  12. If Pomeranz can prove he's healthy your SR is right on the money. IMO Pomeranz is far from being out of the woods health wise. Jmo.
  13. If he's healthy I see 15W's out of him. The knuckle baller or not. He gets outs.
  14. At first I thought NO about hitting Beni third. I thought really hard about it and changed my mind. He's got a good approach of hitting and he's played under pressure from August/ September, I think he can handle it. I have no data or reports. This is strictly a hunch. Sometimes you have your own eye test for these type of things.
  15. That would be the one I go with.
  16. It might no matter anyway. He is the only one that can be sent down ( Paw Sox) the other two can't. They may risk losing Leon or Vazquez. The only way Swihart makes it , if they carry three catchers.. Unlikely. Vazquez is a lock, he's in. A scout the other day says he's throwing well like he did before. He may have some of that arm strength back. It takes a good year for that type of injury recovering time.
  17. I'm just the opposite if he doesn't pitch good, we just gave up three good prospects for nothing. I think he will be fine. But yes sometimes he has everyone on edge. I agree.
  18. I looked over at MLB.COM and Gagne is not available in this game. I was just curious if he was going in there. Just assuming it stays the way it is after losing like that yesterday hopefully it doesn't carry over. Please overlook all spelling errors and other stuff it's not my strength. I have a mind for the game not writing it. Lol
  19. I'm in. Just hope no players get injured. I like the intensity. The crowd going crazy. It gets the juices flowing.
  20. It would have taken a package like the one for Sale. Also given Quintana's extra year of control. I can't speak for anybody else on here.. The deal you offered I would do. The White Sox unlikely. Let's say the deal you offered the other day of Groome, Devers , Travis, for Quintana that might get it done. But I wouldn't do it. They traded enough young players now. Plus they really liked Koepach over Espinoza. That's what the rumors say anyway. It was like Notin said, the headliner of the deal was Moncada and b,c,d for sale. IMO Espinoza might not qualify for that type of deal you are looking for. But these debates are always good for the board IMO. But I understand what you meant.
  21. He may have done us all a favor. I think they save 2M if he's cut by opening day. I thought somebody said that.
  22. When I saw it. I thought the same thing. I went on google for a check out and thought that was his first name but wasn't a 100% sure. Just looking at that list ,that's a lot of prospects being dealt. The only prospects I agree with them dealing is for Sale. The Kimbrel deal I'm on the fence on. Now with Mr. Thornburg having a dead arm , I am having my doubts about that one as well. But he has had two bad springs before, so I remain cautiously optimistic some what. Just getting back on Kimbrel. I like the player but maybe not the deal of prospects they unloaded for him. But I'll live with it.
  23. Me too. The signing was a mistake. If he can take his old job back its his. Let's see if he can prove a lot of people wrong. Myself included.
  24. 225 IP lost Over 200 K's lost 17W's lost Taxing the bullpen more Still don't know about Wright or Erod if they can break camp healthy. On a side note , if Price couldn't pitch, he can't opt out after three years. That would mean Sox are stuck with an unproductive Price for seven years. We can say what we want about him. But they will need him. I have been on him a lot . He could pitch better. He has said that. The bullpen scares me the most. That's me though other people may disagree.
  25. That will most likely happen. Stay behind in FLA. I think throw more. He will build more strength in his arm. Go on a throwing program. It will be step by step. Flat ground, mound, throwing BP, simulated game, maybe rehab assignment if it can be worked out. I think mid April sounds like a plan.
