  1. True. It's not even that Ellsbury has been that bad, but to live up to a contract that massive he would have needed to repeat his MVP season like 3 times.
  2. We could play .500 ball for the rest of the year and still finish with 87 wins, which would likely be good enough for a WC spot. Obviously not thinking WC at this point in time, but it's pretty wild how well they've set themselves up for the remainder of the season. Polar opposite of last year.
  3. I was being facetious. She sucks and almost everyone who I've heard that has an opinion about her also thinks that she sucks. Not because she's a woman, because she sucks at announcing. But society will call you a sexist if you say so. End of point. As for Michael Kay, not even his mother likes listening to him speak. I have to disagree with you on Paul O'Neill though, he's a bit of a dolt but at least he's entertaining.
  4. You're a sexist if you point out how terrible of an announcer Mendoza is. Listening to her announce reminds me of watching the game with my girlfriend.
  5. Need to find a way to get him in the lineup everyday. At least until he cools off. Kinda tough with both Gardner & Ellsbury playing well though. At least Ellsbury's latest injury is giving him some consistent playing time.
  6. This team finds a lot of interesting ways to win. It's pretty exciting but I don't think they can count on crazy comebacks all season long. I'd like to see Sanchez start mashing soon, that would be a huge boost to a lineup that's already pretty potent.
  7. I can't see this ever happening. Besides the crazy cost for Donaldson (I don't believe the Sox have the prospect talent for this trade, they'd need to include a major leaguer as well), teams just don't trade within their own division. Especially in the AL East.
  8. He looks awesome. Like with Sanchez last season, there's no way we can expect him to keep this up all year. But let the good times roll!
  9. I blame bad situational hitting for the loss, not Girardi. Leaving 16 men on base is not a winning formula. And two straight innings of men on 2nd & 3rd with zero/one out, and we end up with 0 runs.
  10. I know it's foolish of me to think that the Yanks will suck again once Sanchez is back.. but going 14-3 without him is pretty crazy.
  11. Teams weren't willing to take a chance on him 2 seasons ago because they thought he could get jail time and/or a year long suspension. Had teams known that he would only get a one month suspension, I'm sure more teams would have been interested, and the asking price would have been much higher than the bag of peanuts that the Yanks traded away for him. Don't get me wrong, Chapman is a scumbag. But he is a scumbag who was not found guilty of any crimes who can throw 103 MPH. Given the chance, I don't believe a single team would take the moral high ground and refuse to sign him (at the right price).
  12. I was thinking after this season. But now works too.
  13. It's way too early to write off Carter. He probably won't get any significant playing time unless Bird/Holliday get hurt, but if he gets a chance to play consistently I think we'll see his massive power and strike out prowess. As for Austin, he was put on the 60 day DL so he won't be a factor for awhile.
  14. We need these wins now because the schedule is going to get a lot tougher. After this series, the Yanks play the Pirates, the good Sox, the O's, Jays, Cubs, and Astros. If they get through that stretch above .500 then I will be thoroughly impressed. But with that said, right now they're doing what good teams do --- beat down lousy teams.
  15. Our season is over. Time to sell for prospects!
  16. Just wait! This is the year ellsbury returns to form! But I'd settle for .275 15HRs 30SBs
  17. Been awhile since I've been this excited for a youngster on the Yankees (Cano was probably the last one). No way he keeps hitting at this pace, but Sanchez sure is fun to watch.
  18. Is Kaprielian done for the year? Would be nice if he could give them a late season boost but again I don't know his status. Not sure if they have any other big league ready starters to bring up. Maybe Acevedo or Chance? Or maybe they can stretch out Cessa. Should be interesting how they address the final rotation spot.
  19. Yeah you're right, i guess old man Jeter is the image of him stuck in my head. But he did have a cannon in his prime.
  20. Jeter didn't have the arm to play 3rd. But in any case, it's annoying that we now have to pretend that Arod isn't the biggest douche in baseball because he's retiring. What's even worse is that we still have to hear about him through next year because he's going to be advising (aka doing jack s***) for us. He was a great player and he helped bring home the bacon ONE year. Thanks and good riddance.
  21. I'd say Girardi is doing the Red Sox dirty by not starting ARod at 3rd. The guy can't move laterally, how can he play the field.
  22. Are they ever going to announce the players we received in the Nova trade? I'm sure we didn't get a top prospect but I still wanna know dammit.
