  1. We don't have much left to offer in return. Probably we are done for the trade deadline.
  2. We can do without him. Let someone else take the plunge.
  3. I expect Pom will show us tonight that he isn't capable of being a starter unless he regains more health and more velocity. I even question him in the BP. Too bad as a healthy Pom pitching as well as he did last year would really help the team. I doubt if many would flock to take him in a trade. I wouldn't trade either Holt or Nunez as we need them for the stretch run.
  4. I was one of those who hoped for a strengthening up of our infield who had reached the point of playing both Nunez and Holt every day. I saw that as one injury away from a serious problem. Kinsler is an excellent move and may still keep us away from the second tier of the luxury tax limit. Others will report on that. He is a pro with good defense and is a professional hitter. Good move. I would have preferred a younger long term solution to second but that can happen at another time.
  5. Great end to a game where our bottom guys did the hitting. Nunez, Holt, JBJ and Swihart made the difference and our pitching was great. Price and the relief corp. Worth the entire over 4 hours.
  6. I really like our outfield as well.None better. and I agree about the positive thoughts about Thornburg and now Eovaldi showed well on his first outing. The trade deadline is upon us at 4:00 pm tomorrow and word is that we are looking at many possibilies for setup men to bolster that part of our team and also possibly Beltre or some other infielder who can help us through the busy schedule ahead while some of our DL players recover. I will wait for front office announcements with interest in how they decide to go azt the deadline.
  7. Now only 2 days for DD to make a move. Maybe he can get something positive done but if he can't we still have the best team in baseball. The Eovaldi trade helped us today. We start to play the big boys going forward. Like to be our best against them. Price against the Yankees is worrisome, but at least Judge won't be in uniform for that series.
  8. Kimrel is wild again. Please don't blow this one.
  9. Mejia would be my choice if wee could pry him loose. He is shutting down our lineup.
  10. I'd take Mejia as our lefty reliever in a heartbeat if the Twins would let him go. He made our best guys look bad every time I have seen him pitch.
  11. This guy throws strikes, has excellent velocity, has at least 4 pitches (4 seamer, slider, cutter and splitter) and doesn't seem to get riled (no walks). Right now, he is doing a pitching job to be admired. Good pickup for the team.
  12. We are getting everything from him we could have asked for
  13. I'm hoping for a 2nd baseman that we can carry forward into next season. Don't expect Pedroia will be back this year and not a regular next year. Let go of the idea of the Luxury Tax 2nd tier and go for broke now.
  14. You're a status quo guy. I believe in continuous improvement, where you look to shore up weaknesses. To me, doing nothing is a sure way to regress.
  15. Still a chance of picking up a FT second baseman in trade. We now have exactly the situation that warrants it.
  16. Hamstrings can take 6 weeks to heal, depending on the severity. If that is the case, the Sox should still consider a FT second baseman in trade and use Holt and Nunez at 3rd. The Sox do need some utility backup and playing both Holt and Nunez on a daily basis leaves no room for the chaos factor that is involved with any sport, and especially BB.
  17. I'd rather have Scooter Gennett than Harper. There is a need SG but no big need for Harper. Big difference in money.
  18. Betts, JDM and Moreland all struck out with me in scoring position. Good chance for at least one more but the pitchers made them look bad. Lets hope we can hold the lead tonight.
  19. Trade talk should still include a FT second baseman. Pedroia ia a pipe dream this year.
  20. Only two days to go. Act soon or hold your peace DD.
  21. Theeee Yankees lose, theee Yankees lose!
  22. Dozier would be low on my list anyway. I would prefer Schoop from the Orioles and there may be better but we would have to reach.
  23. We can still get a rental reliever. Even better if we get one with at least one more year of control. If our luck holds, maybe we could get a younger second baseman, even if he is just a solid prospect. We shouldn't go much longer with Holt, Nunez and Lin as our primaries, and maybe Pedroia, but those are questionable. It might be worth going over the Luxury Tax Limit second tier if we could get a solid second baseman with control going forward.
  24. Based on Moreland's recent performance, he was not the best matchup either. Better not to give a slap in the face to JBJ for a questionable improvement, even had he been healthy.
  25. Moreland has been nursing a sore knee so he wasn't really available.
