  1. Hamstrings can take 6 weeks to heal, depending on the severity. If that is the case, the Sox should still consider a FT second baseman in trade and use Holt and Nunez at 3rd. The Sox do need some utility backup and playing both Holt and Nunez on a daily basis leaves no room for the chaos factor that is involved with any sport, and especially BB.
  2. I'd rather have Scooter Gennett than Harper. There is a need SG but no big need for Harper. Big difference in money.
  3. Betts, JDM and Moreland all struck out with me in scoring position. Good chance for at least one more but the pitchers made them look bad. Lets hope we can hold the lead tonight.
  4. Trade talk should still include a FT second baseman. Pedroia ia a pipe dream this year.
  5. Only two days to go. Act soon or hold your peace DD.
  6. Theeee Yankees lose, theee Yankees lose!
  7. Dozier would be low on my list anyway. I would prefer Schoop from the Orioles and there may be better but we would have to reach.
  8. We can still get a rental reliever. Even better if we get one with at least one more year of control. If our luck holds, maybe we could get a younger second baseman, even if he is just a solid prospect. We shouldn't go much longer with Holt, Nunez and Lin as our primaries, and maybe Pedroia, but those are questionable. It might be worth going over the Luxury Tax Limit second tier if we could get a solid second baseman with control going forward.
  9. Based on Moreland's recent performance, he was not the best matchup either. Better not to give a slap in the face to JBJ for a questionable improvement, even had he been healthy.
  10. Moreland has been nursing a sore knee so he wasn't really available.
  11. Devers and Betts saved this one. tood bad Sale didn't get the win but Kimbrel was wild tonight.
  12. Thats his first HR in a while. It came at a great time. At least we still have a fighting chance. Our BP is down to the 2nd tier but the top of our order will be coming up. Maybe they will do something.
  13. Wouldn't throw a strike to the 8th hitter but does to the much better hitter. Kimbrel blew it totally.
  14. Walk the 8th hitter so the top of the order is up and then a wild pitch to move the runner into scoring position. Not good.
  15. After similar last night. I don't think the twins pitching is that superior. Something is going on where they are in a collective malaise.
  16. Lets see some offense.
  17. Another inning of top of the order futility.
  18. Any doubt we need a full time second baseman?
  19. The top of the Sox order suddenly appears toothless, especially Betts and Moreland. Snap out of it guys and start producing runs. Lynn was throwing 92 mph four seamers and slightly slower two seamers with an ocassional slider. Sale deserves more support.
  20. Brasier has really been effective since joining the Sox. i don't think you could call Thornburg, Hembree or Kelly as reliable. The Sox do need one more high quality quassi-closer type. After watching Rodney, I would be concerned with his ability to get wild. He almost gave the game to us last night.
  21. We need to take care of business. Lets not be concerned with the others and we won't have to be if we play good ball. Five hits tonight wasn't our best display but then we only gave up 2.
  22. Sure they have and so have the other contending teams. We don't have a lot to trade material nor cap space so DD is handicapped. Everyone knows the needs although the priorities might be argueable. DD will try his best but at worst we will stand pat and still be a terrific team. Only a few days to go so we won't have long to wait.
  23. Knowing his propensity to swing and miss, I would think he would have swung at 3 and 1. Too bad we didn't get the hit we needed, but its on to tomorrow.
  24. Well, the Yankees got Happ and one of our pipe dream targets, Soria, went to the Brewers. I still hope that DD has something else working for the BP. Still time but not much to get more done.
  25. We still could use a reliable RP since Kelly hasn't been that of late. I also would take a 2nd baseman, particularly if he had more than a rental status. Pedroia is not likely to get better as a 37 year old, even if he makes it back next year.
