  1. Pretty inept hitting. Detroit gave us a gift yet we couldn't make anything of it.
  2. Walking the #9 hitter to put a runner in scoring position. Doesn't make sense. ninety percent of his pitches were up in the zone or out of the zone high.
  3. Good Point and we may be down to two total utility infielders with two on the DL if you don't count Pedey.
  4. I would have thought Mookie would figure this guy out after seeing him twice. Didn't happen.
  5. Their pitcher is so far fooling the Sox hitters. The 3rd time around should tell a different story.
  6. Men on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Good scoring opportunity but it wasn't to be. JDM isn't the fleetest of guys so it needed to go to the outfield. Try again next inning.
  7. I'd say everywhere you find a person, there would be an *******, but what does that to do with baseball?
  8. As I recall, last year we were hoping for a deadline trade, but they didn't materialize. Now the Guardians and the Dodgers have made strong moves. Can the Astros and the Yankees be far behind. Hope DD is negotiating now for our turn.
  9. Cora's technique didn't have to be good to see that letting 2 strikes build up on balls down the middle without offering didn't make sense. Many on the board realized the same thing, but several of the guys, especially Bogaerts seemed determined to take a lot of good pitches. That has changed this year as opposing pitchers know they may get a swing on the first pitch. From what has been said, Cora also asked Bogaerts to try to pull the ball more often and to use his size and strength to get a higher slugginng percentage. Not much has been said about the effect on the rest of the hitters, but Cora recently made a comment about JBJ finally joining the team, meaning changing his hitting technique. You have to wonder why Farrell didn't do more about obvious hitting issues?
  10. I have used Ho Hum to denote boredom with the comment, but not hear. Usually I reserved it for my kids.
  11. I think that means he has a chance not to be. I prefer a different direction.
  12. In the planning for next year, I would definitely be looking for a prime or younger candidate to play 2nd for us. During the discussions about Pedroia early on, I was probably the least optimistic, thinking he would probably come back just after the AS break while others were talking May. We all were wrong and I don't believe we should take the risk for next season again. We need to pick up a FA or trade for a quality guy that can at least reliably play average 2nd base ball for us.
  13. A lot of talk these days about Zach Britton. I can understand the Sox would like a quality left hand reliever in the BP but is Britton the right guy. He was lights out in the past, but that was then and he has gone through an injury and I am not so sure we want to take that risk, especially if it would mean giving up a lot to get him.
  14. i remember from the game that Porcello was getting hammered and couldn't find the strike zone. Cora left him in until the game was in great jeopardy and then had to go to the BP anyway. I don't see how his decision in that case can be supported. It was highly questionable and the results were bad.
  15. The priorities are in the pitching department. Holt is a keeper but not as an everyday player. We will not be able to fill every position where we have a need so maybe Phillips comes in to help for this year if he shows up in AAA. Otherwise a starter is needed and one or two relief pitchers, letting our worst go. Catcher is also still up in the air until later in August. If we can get by until then, Vaz will become available and the need will be reduced. If Leon is injured in the interim, we would be forced to act.
  16. Imagine a competition where outfielders tried to make the fastest and most accurate throw home and they threw their arm out. Great for the game?
  17. The guy who I think has been helped the most is Bogaerts. He did have injuries last year but this year he is more aggressive and trying to use the power he has had but not really used. I credit Cora with that change by instructing him to be more aggressive on strikes early and asking him to try to pull more balls. Maybe JDM has also helped him but to me it was Cora who set the tone.
  18. Realistically, DD will go for a SP, RP or two, 2nd baseman, catching prospect but the emphasis will be on pitching. To the extent he can bolster the pitching, he might have to give away future pitching prospects and more. He will need to act and I would guess the options are already lined up. We will be outbid on some of them so maybe we don't get the ideal arrangement but it is competitive out there and if DD can strengthen this years team, fire away.
  19. Chances are nothing will be announced before completion of the AS Game so as not to detract from the importance of it. After that, expect the trades to be announced with many in the offing. DD has been working so something is probably in the cards now.
  20. There is a report that said he hurt his knee. I will attempt to go back and find the link.
  21. Yes and last night E-Rod sprained his surgically repaired knee. It could bee a major setback.
  22. I thought this string was about who we should trade for. In that case, with Wright not doing as well as hoped and now E Rod out with a knee sprain on his surgically repaired knee, we might change our focus to look for a starter and probably a reliever as well. Priorities change and our recent injury bug has probably changed who we go after.
  23. I meant Scott, good catch.
  24. Yes, and now we need additional relief pitching. Hembree is irratic, Robbie Ross is not putting up ML numbers, Kelly has been bad of late, but I have opes for him. Velo is there, just needs to get it back together. I think we could use at least one reliever and possibly two, but we also need a second baseman as Pedroia doesn.t look like he will play again in 2018. After that, who know. We can scrape by at catcher and CF is not a big priority. We have a good team, but pitching could be our downfall. DD needs to act in that area for sure.
  25. That's got to be some kind of record for GSs by the Sox. I have been around a long time and never remember a year like this. Now the Guardians need too take it to the Yankees for icing on the cake.
