  1. Might help him and lengthen his bb career. He is naturally stocky so 205 or 210 would be maybe a norm he should shoot for.
  2. Thanks DD for getting us Brasier
  3. JBJ is doing enough with the bat of late to give us another serious threat. The Sox are chipping away and probably will get a few more. BP needs to keep things under control.
  4. But it's 5 to 5 now
  5. The kid is 6 feet tall and weighs 237 pounds according to the red sox data. He is a candidate for hamstring injuries. He needs to consider conditioning as a priority if he is to attain his best form and stay off of the DL. Clearly people will quesion if this is truly an injury or an excuse to get him down to work on his defense and hitting. Both need help, along with his conditioning.
  6. Their relief pitching must have been dreadful.
  7. The luxury tax limits are blocking him this year. He is making too much to be a backup outfielder and JDM is subbing there one or two times a week and that will probably continue. Don't see that changing next year aas JBJ is probably going to remain our CF. Best if someone would take him in trade for a good prospect or relief pitcher.
  8. Typically yoou look at 3rd base as a position that requires a bat with some extra base and Home Run power. He is a good fielder but doesn't have the requisite baqt.
  9. Not throwing a strike three times in a row was definitely not a good strategy. If i had a 100 mph fastball, I would think of that as my best out pitch.
  10. I'm not informed about the nature of Moreland's knee injury, but maybe it is something loose or a small tear that can be repaired. I would wait and see with him as he is contracted for another year. He has been a valuable asset to the team and it would be premature to move him. Others have thought that maybe Devers would be more of a long term solution for 1st base. If his listed weight of 236# at 21 years old is correct, his viability as a long term player at 3rd is seriously in question. In that case 3rd base would become a priority. Right now most fans consider 2nd base to be the highest priority at the field position. Pedroia's viability as a full time 2nd baseman is very questionable. Kinsler is very good but older than Pedroia and more of a utility player going forward if we elect to take him. Will Chavis land on the team as a 3rd baseman, a second baseman or will he be another at first? To be seen. Clearly starting and relief pitching will need to be dealt with next year with free agency coming into play and also taking aq hard look at the performance of several of our guys. Time enough to discuss those posibilities at the end of the season.
  11. I thought Eovaldi has good velocity and location. The Devers error made him pitch from from the stretch and the big hit against him was on a high and away FB just out of the strike zone. That was very good hitting not bad pitching. Leon is doing a decent job of pitch calling but if you are referring to the changeup thrown by Kelly on a 3 and 2 call, it might have been on Kelly, not Leon.
  12. Cora let him get shelled. Pomeranz is not good enough to be in there but Cora didn't appear serious about winning the game. He did come in with Betts later so his approach appears inconsistent tonight. It was tough to have the bases loaded and none out and only get one. Devers did hit the ball hard after a poor showing earlier. Leon is Leon and Beni couldn't deliver.
  13. Devers put Eovaldi in a hole with another terrible throw. I noticed he had a mouth full of sun flower seeds at 3rd. What is he doing out there. The kid also hasn't been a threat at the plate. I would rest him when Kinsler gets back. We are getting late in the season and the kid really isn't correcting his mistakes nor is he yet a professional hitter at the plate. A rst and some coaching might help him. Maybe a little tough love is in order.
  14. The pen seems to be way off of late. Consistently wild and seemingly rattled when they get in games. Today we saw Thornburg, Barnes and Kimbrel all have issues. Hope somehow with rest and perhaps some different coaching they can throw strikes when they come in with a good lead. Baltimore is not that strong offensively, so what would happen against a team that is if the BP comes in wild..
  15. Terrible to come in and walk a guy with a 3 run lead and then throw a knuckle curve when he couldn't hit the fastball. What's next?
  16. Really an awful appearance by Barnes. Two hits a wild pitch and a walk all leading to a run and could have been much worse. What is going on with the BP. Hembree is beyond awful these days and neither Barnes nor Kimbrel seems to have the dominance they had earlier and now Thornburg was bad. Isn't there something the pitching coach can do?
  17. E-Rod is a big pieceeto get back and probably will give us 6 innings a start with minimum runs. He replaces Joohnson in the lineup and Sale is back as our #1. Big help to the pitching staff. Kinsler may make it back against the Phillies. That improves our defense and depth and by the way, the guy can hit. Swihart also will be back very soon and will replace Butler, who after all is just a placeholder. Vaz's return is a ways off as he may not make it back until September. We are strong enough to get by without him for a while. This team is getting stronger from an already good position and barring further injuries should win the American League East.
  18. He has been awful for us recently. Can't even get the bottom of the order and nibbles until he walks guys. Now the game is tied again.
  19. I get nervous any time he gets on the mound and tonight it is with a 1 run lead.
  20. Absolutely. He is starting to look more like last year when he helped the team so much.
  21. None better. 36 on August 11th. Now the rest need to get going.
  22. Is Michael Chavis eligible? If so, it would only be for a look as next season he may be considered for a roster spot.
  23. Onew more thing. Who gets the win?
  24. Nine run lead in the 8th. I played today so off to bed. Our offense is great. Maybe we should have gone out and gotten a RP. Swihart will be back in a few days so Leon will get some help. Don't know if the pitching was bothered by the catcher tonight but Swihart will solve that and Vaz is probably at least two weeks away.
  25. The guy is our most reliable relief pitcher.
