  1. Yes, that was stupid on my part. Frustrated.
  2. Sounds much better.......I am just flabbergasted by his inability to make a contact. I bet there's a player in mlb that won't have as many swing and misses in entire April as Devers after 4 games. Ugh
  3. Refsnyder can platoon with Devers.
  4. If you go back to 8/2/24, Devers is 33-174, .190 (est). with 59 k's and 24 BB with only 4 HR (all in August). He should be batting 9th until he figures it out.
  5. I am little frustrated but there are many good signs for this team. Our pitching has been more than adequate. We have a true ace in Crochet. Houck pitched better than he had in spring. Buehler is simply a professional. Excited for Richard Fitts. With the addition of Whitlock, our bullpen appears to be decent. Cora made great call on Campbell. I think we've found our 2B. If there's an opening in OF, he can fill it. We don't have to panic if Story goes down. Or say Duran. We have Mayer that can step in to play 2B and Campbell can move out to left. I think we're capable of going on winning streaks. Obviously for that to happen, Duran, Devers, Story and Casas have to hit. That's too many black holes at the top of the lineup.
  6. Gunderson, now Cowser and starter Rodriguez out for the Orioles.
  7. "Agree about Casas. He'd rather go down looking at strike 3 and pat himself on the back for being right about a call than protecting the plate." I can't say any better than this!!!!
  8. I hope I'm wrong but our hitting appears more suited at home than on the road. Bregman doesn't possess enough power. I think he'll be great in Boston. Story is simply not a good hitter. He chases too many bad pitches. Casas is too analytical. I just wished he just go up there and swing. Quite honestly, I rather watch Mayer struggle than Story. He'll be a better player. I rather see Anthony in the lineup. I think there's enough bat for Duran, Rafael, Abreu and Anthony. Ref can occasionally fill in at DH for Devers.
  9. I asked once, should we trade Devers? Highly paid DH for next 9 years. Ugh.
  10. This will be a fun season for me. Getting to watch Fitts start is one example. Cora made the right call with Campbell. I can't wait for Mayer and Anthony to join him. Me personally, I rather watch Mayer play than Story any day. My guess is he'll be hurt at some point.
  11. The sooner we get Mayer and Anthony on board the better I feel. They are the core group, not Devers, Story, Bregman, etc.
  12. This Sox team still looks to hit better at home. Bregman and Story just don't impress me. They will look much better with the short fence in the left. We'll have to manufacture runs on the road. I would had Campbell steal 2nd (I don't remember which inning, game was close then.)
  13. He started 6 games last year and was not impressive. Didn't we have him in our sight? I'm glad we went with Mayer.
  14. What happened to our all left handed starting unit?
  15. Yesterday I contacted "Cot's". I let him know that Sean Newcomb was not listed anywhere. It's been corrected. I see his name on there today. This is my third e-mail to the site over the last several years. Yep, I can be very nerdy.
  16. Speaking of Whitlock. I always felt Whitlock HAD to be considered for starting job SOLEY because we had no depth at starting pitching. I think that was very true at the time of his extension. Why would anyone extend him for that much money for a reliever? Now with plethora of starters, we can put him away in the pen.
  17. 3 months rental of Vaz for 6 year control of Abreu. Pretty good trade with Houston Astros. Vaz is in his final year of 3 year, $30M deal with Minnesota. If Rafaela figures out his hitting, Duran extension may not be needed with Anthony in the wings. I love Duran (don't get me wrong). We still have 4 years of control. It's just good to have options.........
  18. Off topic. Does anyone know why Newcomb started 31 games for Atlanta in 2018 but was jettisoned to the pen in 2019? What gives? He had a pretty good year as a starter.
  19. I don't think any baseball people for Red Sox tell Kennedy anything. He seems uninformed.
  20. Our defense is better with Devers out.....that alone should be worth +5 games.
  21. So we dodged a bullet NOT signing Jordan Montgomery. He had a horrendous year for Arizona and now he's out for the year with Tommy John surgery. Jordan had exercised his option to play for the Diamondbacks in 2025 for $22,500,000. If you recall he was a last minute signee near the end of spring training last year. Some though we had chance due to the fact that his wife doing her internship in Boston (?). He would be a perfect pickup for the Red Sox in 2026. You know, pay him low salary so he can continue to rehab and attach an option for $20M for 2027. That's what we do, isn't it?
  22. It would be nice to extend Crochet but the management appears to be lasered focused on developing pitching talent. I like the direction we're headed.
