  1. Not sure calling Breslow an idiot at this stage gives you much credibility.
  2. Why do clubs always wait till the last minute to bolster the team? Why don't we just go get a starting pitcher? Looks like White Sox has two starters available.
  3. Tanner again will be asked to save the pen. Pivetta throws a 1hit 7 IP and comes away with no decision. A win is better than a loss especially to lowly Marlins.
  4. Not sure why Cora would play Valdez over Hamilto at 2B when Rafaela is starting at short. Hamilton's speed just plays better.
  5. One problem was keeping Xander and Eovaldi while the team was over the cap. Our comp picks were set back because of it. I'd say hire Bellhorn and have him keep track of tax payroll. We seem to suck at it
  6. No to that....2025 is Vlad's final arbitration year. We have Casa for another 4 years. Not sure why we would give up any prospects in that deal. I wouldn't do it straight up. 4 years versus 1, no thanks.
  7. Going big is good. Position players are less riskier than pitchers. It would be something to add Vlad to returning Casas. Vlad can DH and relieve lefty 1B bat. To think Devers (10 yrs), Story (4+1), Yoshida (4), Rafaela (8), Casas (5), Duran (5), Wong (5), Abreu (6), Grissom (6), Valdez (6), Hamilton (6) and Gonzalez (5), all under team control for few years. I don't want to trade Teel, Mayer or Anthony but with so many team controlled players on the book, I would think it's okay to trade everyone else to acquire established talent now........No? Our pen has team controlled guys in Weissert (6), Bernardino (6), Slaten (6), Kelly (5) and now Horn (6). Throw in starters Josh W (5), Bello (6+1), Tanner (4) and Kutter (5). We need a top of the line guy both as a starter and another as a closer. We don't have to decimate the farm. With so many controllable players in the majors, we have time to fill in prospects 11-30 or if you like 4-30.
  8. I would prefer we do the 'buying' during winter.
  9. Maybe not but I remember Devers name coming up around same time.......I think Moncada was rushed for DD to see.... Many skeptics here...I will do some research on this site...
  10. One thing I liked about DD was that he essentially said that enough time spent in AA was good enough to make a jump straight to the majors.
  11. Getting Chris Sale for Moncada and Espinoza was a great trade. Contract extension is a separate issue. If I recall, DD got a quick look at Moncada playing third and knew immediately he could be replaced by Devers. Moncada was a second baseman but Pedey was there. Moon and I were more concerned about the 'ceiling' of Espinoza, but he essentially got hurt and his development slowed.
  12. Cora is on the record stating he hopes the trade deadline is NOT the repeat of last 2 years. "We tried but couldn't find anything to our liking" excuse won't cut it anymore.
  13. Well put, good summation. I agree.
  14. If Hamilton starts as a DH instead of Yoshida, how will that limit Cora if a lefty comes in relief? I guess I am saying Hamilton with hot bat should be playing over Yoshida.
  15. The big issue with Duran, fairly or unfairly, was not going after the ball when his play in centerfield was awful. That really hurt his reputation.
  16. This team needs Casas and a right handed DH that can fill in at 3B/1B. Hopefully Grissom can realize his full potential and maybe platoon with Hamilton.
  17. I am not sure I can get away from speed ball. Grissom has to be awful good to play over Hamilton as an examplr.
  18. If I'm a right handed slugger, I'd prefer playing in Cincy than Fenway. You can get line drive homers in Cincy, a double at Fenway.
  19. What would cost to get Alonso from the Mets? 11-20 ranked prospect? He can DH after Casas comes back. $8-$10M remaining on his contract?
  20. Our right handed bats really need to stay healthy.
  21. Not having to bat Cooper and Dalbec was step in the right direction.
  22. I think projection is very unrealistic. One game at a time.
  23. Sox now in the sildcard. 1/2 game ahead of Royals. Tanner Houck next up.
  24. Does Fitts have a third pitch? I see that he has been pitching well as a starter. Almost 4 walks per 9 but he doesn't give up homers, unlike Pivetta.
  25. KC Royals are 7-12 this month with another game vs Rangers today. Then it's 3 games vs Miami and they conclude by playing a 4 game series vs the Guardians. They sure look poised to be overtaken by the 6/30. We host 3 games vs Toronto and then following a day off it's the Padres for 3.
