  1. Mr. Hill...welcome to Fenway
  2. I will always have a soft spot for Beckett for beating the Yankees before becoming a Sox.
  3. HELL NO to the Atlanta deal...are you f***ing nuts?
  4. Big Apology.....song by Meatloaf....geez
  5. Will we see Hill tonight due to Shaw being not 100%? Surely he'll get the start tomorrow night vs lefty Moore. I'm anxious to watch him.
  6. Trade Pedroia. Fire Farrell. Put Buchholz on waivers...mvp Wasn't there a country song that said 'two out of three ain't bad'?
  7. At least now, we know it's all on DD.....just the way it should be....someone should be in charge.
  8. I guess that begs the question what's the long term implication for Shaw? Is he always going to require platooning? I do like him as a player.
  9. Per Boston Herald Prospects impress Carlos Febles, the former Kansas City Royal and current manager of Double-A Portland, is raving about the organization’s two best prospects: Andrew Benintendi and Yoan Moncada. Both players have been hot approaching Sunday’s MLB All-Star Futures Game — Benintendi will play for the United States, while Moncada will play for the World Team — and Febles said he thinks both have gotten comfortable since their promotions from Single-A Salem. Moncada extended his hitting streak to seven games last night with three hits, including his fourth home run. He raised his average to .317 with a .977 OPS. “The ball can jump off his bat well,” Febles said. “He’s a strong kid, has a good swing, just needs to be more consistent. “He looks good defensively. He has some stuff that needs to be cleaned up. So far he’s doing a solid job. He’s quick, athletic. He’s good on the bag. It’s no doubt he can be a heck of a second baseman.” Febles has given both prospects the green light to let them steal bases on their own. Moncada is 4-for-4, while Benintendi is 6-for-11. “That’s how you learn,” Febles said. “If you tell the guys what to do every time, if you tell them when to run here, (then) they get to Triple A, get a green light and they won’t know when to go.” I do think the two will be a September call up...
  10. Fix the #4/#5 rotation situation....would hate to give up on Michael Kopech.....100 mph pitchers don't come around every day.
  11. "Because Travis Shaw is hitting .211 with a .620 OPS and 21 strikeouts in 75 plate appearances against lefties, Hill will likely slot in as the third baseman against southpaws. Hill is hitting .283 with a .780 OPS and eight home runs overall. He has a .725 OPS against lefties. “Travis, recently he’s had good at-bats, but his numbers against left-handed pitching have not been that good this year,” Dombrowski said. “How (manager John Farrell) decides to (handle the workload), that’s of course up to him.”" Despite the contradicting chatter on this board, this is how DD views Shaw. And he counts more than any of us. Shaw has been anemic against left handed pitching. The game where Kimbrel blew up in the 9th comes to mind. We could have used Hill to pinch hit for Shaw with bases loaded (?) in late innings against a left hander.
  12. So you just blow off your manager's request to get a right handed batting infielder depth?
  13. Let's not make this complicated...John F mentioned last week he'd like to have right handed bat for infield. DD said alright John. Nothing more, nothing less. He simply adds depth and reinforcement for Shaw, especially vs tough left handlers. It's a good move.
  14. Price was definitely right....less than $3m...he will fit right in with this bunch....
  15. He hit 38 home runs one season.....Mr Hill, meet Mr Greenmonster....
  16. I meant Shaw injures Sox from left side......
  17. Or just maybe Sox needs upgrade over Hernandez with Shaw's injury.
  18. Mid Season Baseball Prospects Rankings-top 50 2 Moncada 11 Benintendi 19 Devers 24 Espinoza (former Sox Margot checks in at 16) Yankees have two prospects #25 Aron Judge OF and #29 Jorge Mateo SS Tampa has Brent Honeywell RHP at #44. Baltimore and Toronto has none. Colorado has 3 in top 24. It would be hard to give up any of these kids.....
  19. What's the down side of giving Benintendi a shot? Position players are much different than pitchers. You don't think Benintendi can't survive a say 1 week slump in the majors? He'll be damaged good forever? He'll have a mental set back of couple of years? Give me a freaking break. What he breaks out just as Shaw and Leon have? The point is he CAN play defense. Him going 0-4 is not detrimental to the team unlike a starting pitcher melting down. If Benintendi looks over matched at the plate, just send him down. Do you honestly think his mental fortitude is that weak? Wow....
  20. What happens if Shaw is out for extended period? Who comes up? See any scenario of Benintendi getting a call? Holt plays 3rd, Hernandez a backup. Brentz and Benintendi platoon in LF? Can Benintendi do any worse than some of the pitchers we've trotted out? Benintendi won't lose a game by himself. Yet this board is okay with continuous unsuccessful tryouts for #4 and #5 spots?
  21. Would Miami give up Fernandez and Conley for all of above?
  22. 11-6.......this is why we stole 3B with less than one out with Sox leading 9-1 back in 3rd or 4th inning. Running up the score? Hell no, we just don't trust our pitchers.....this is 3rd straight shaky outing by Wright....
  23. No. Only difference is our lineup is pretty well set for several years now that we've held onto Xander, Betts and Bradley.....What if we're able to get a #1 and #3 type pitchers for above named players to go along with Price, Porcello and Wright? Obviously it's extreme but you have to make choices.....do we want a team that's fun to watch but can't win the big one because we have no pitching? We have 6 all stars and Texas has 2, But can we win without making changes? Mortgaging our future would be to trade Betts/Bradley/Xander....that's not what i'm proposing. C Vazquez/Leon 1B Hanley 2B Pedey 3B Shaw SS Xander LF Holt CF Bradley RF Betts DH FA Is this good enough offense to win?
