  1. IN THEORY, assuming we can sign a power bat to DH next year, hell we can trade away every prospects, no? What pitcher(s) can we get for Moncada, Benintendi, Espinoza, Devers and Swihart?
  2. can we bank couple of these runs for next game?
  3. As Moon will tell you, DD has a history of overpaying.....lol....jk Moon. That subject is CLOSED (I bet the 4 guys we traded could have done just as well last night)
  4. Obviously I think it's matter of asking price (duh).....Difficult task is for Sox to have a clear understanding and planning as to what they want the team to look like for next 5 years. They need to flush out duplicity in the system in order to execute any trade. Is it Swihart? Are they ready to move away from him? Have they given up on him as a catcher? If that's the case then as Moon has often stated his trade value is much higher than what he can do for Sox as an outfielder especially in light of progress Benintendi is making? Do you offer Espinoza knowing that pitching prospects are often crap shoot? What if he's another Owens in making? Different skill sets but same results? Does pending signing of our #1 draft pick come into play? If we can sign a power bat as a DH, then we're stuck with Hanley at 1B for three more years (his 5th year vests based on plate appearance for 2017-2018 seasons). Or do we live him at DH with the thought of relocating Shaw at 1B while Sam Travis heals? Does the ultimate lineup look like Benintendi in LF, Moncada at 3B, Shaw at 1B and Hanley DH? Or Benintendi becomes expendable with the thought that Moncad's best position is LF? If we do get Hill, does the qualifying offer good enough for him to return to Sox in 2017? Or will it necessitate 2 yrs and $20M+? We do have $13M coming off the books for Bucholtz. What can we get if we packaged Benintendi, Espinoza and Swihart? That leaves us with Moncada in left, Shaw at 3B, Hanley at 1B and add a power bat at DH. Hell we haven't even discussed Devers.
  5. Dave is the Managing Editor of FanGraphs....... the gist of his article is that Sox will get more bang for bucks (improving the team) by acquiring the catcher from Milwaukee (and probably cheaper) than acquiring a pitcher most likely available at trade deadline. ......I kind of agree with that sentiment.
  6. So your evaluation is superior to the random writer on Fangraphs?
  7. "Back in May, when looking for landing spots for Ryan Braun, I noted that perhaps there was room for the Red Sox to make a big trade with the Brewers, bringing in Milwaukee’s slugging left fielder, but also acquiring catcher Jonathan Lucroy in the deal as well. The idea of the team bringing in Braun looks less necessary now that Andrew Benintendi is crushing Double-A pitching and is looking big league ready; Steamer already projects him for a 109 wRC+ if called up right now, and so the team is probably better served just calling him up to be this year’s Michael Conforto rather than bringing in a veteran to block his path".............but everyone here thinks Sox should hold off on bringing up Benintendi......it's obvious infielders need a break, Holt can provide valuable depth there.
  8. Based on Shaw's struggle against left handers, do we need to platoon him? Is this why JF is looking for right handed utility infielder?
  9. It's better to know NOW than wait......he's the last one standing to try out. What does it hurt?
  10. Typical Sox......run up hits and runs unnecessarily yesterday but can't get to the starting pitcher tonight..... but hey, we are sending 6 All Stars....
  11. Anyone here pinch hit for Shaw vs lefty? Are we trying to build up his confidence? We had Hanigan on the bench....oops.
  12. #3 #4 hitters are hitless....
  13. this...Sox fan since 1967
  14. Shaw is hitting .212 against lefties....what do you expect?
  15. Xander had no play at home...should have just taken an out at 3B
  16. At least no double play by Pedy.....
  17. Yes, I'm the only person on this planet that thought the move hurt Xander. I'll pat myself on the back for original thought.....I just made up the article.
  18. I think we have to get down by 4 before we react.
  19. Price.....just keeps us in the game while offense heats up.....get through the first inning.
  20. At some point you have to move on and away from Buch...it doesn't mean that he won't turn around and pitch great for someone else....it's the randomness to his pitching that's most frustrating. We have pretty good idea what we'll get from Wright right now....absolutely no idea with Buch..... He's that kid that never understood there's a purpose to this game....to win. He seems more concerned with the artistry of pitching.. He values throwing a great curve for third strike over inducing a ground ball to short. Telling a manager he shouldn't come out because he only gave up 3 earned runs out of 6 while the manager is concerned about winning the game?
  21. Is Shaun Anderson someone that can arrive as a relief pitcher in majors as early as 2017?
  22. On Tuesday, Bogaerts didn't hide the fact that he'd prefer to stay at short but is willing to do what the team needs: [Farrell] said that he felt we’re a better team with [Drew]. I guess that’s why they went out and get him. My heart is always at shortstop but they felt we’re a better team with him, so as I said, that’s why they went out and got him. And I was just feeling so good over there. But they made the decision that they have to make.....May 21, 2014 Yeah just ignore the fact.....all I said was this move set Xander back a few months.....but keep rewriting the history dude.
  23. After coming in dead last for two years and having an interim coach with a winning record, don't you think JF is finally managing as though his job is on the line? DD is not on the hook for Pablo, Hanley and Castillo.....playing Shaw ahead of Pablo was probably a no brainer.
  24. If you don't think Xander was unhappy being moved to 3B then you and I have nothing to discuss. Nice try rewriting history.
  25. You are missing my point....John F has history of blocking young players in favor of veterans. Kids got to play while he was gone. John F f***ed up Xander by insisting that we sign and play Drew. He messed with Xander's psyche.....
