  1. Hanley is having a good game!
  2. I'm enjoying watching Pomeranz pitch and Buchholtz sitting in the bullpen bench.
  3. Xander has definitely cooled off....
  4. Interesting what John Farrell said about Kelly yesterday. He is not on a major leaguer rehab......he's a AAA pitcher working as a relief pitcher.
  5. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/did-the-red-sox-really-overpay-for-drew-pomeranz/ Best piece I've seen on Sox flipping Espinoza for Pomeranz
  6. I like Ziegler because he keeps balls in the park. There's always that chance for a double play when he walks a guy. The way I see it he has to give up 3 singles to give up a run. Assuming all .333 hitter, 1/27 chance of happening (assuming 2 outs)
  7. Getting Santana would be a side way move I'm opposed to. I'm with Moon on this. Locking into a two year contract for $26M plus giving away additional prospects would be the dumbest thing to do at this point. Now that we have Pomeranz, just play it out and see what's in store.
  8. Porcello doing a nice job....he does throw strikes....even Price pussyfoots around the plate sometimes.....I hated Dice K..he was willing to loaded the bases to gain advantage, ugh
  9. stop it. It's the groundhog day all over.
  10. cp176 Called it on 4/24. Lol
  11. Yanks win 2-1.....better get to them early....lights out with that bullpen
  12. Yep, maybe Sox is waiting to hear the best offer from other teams and see if it's worth it to better it....as many here have said Moneyball sometimes had different tastes when it comes to prospects...
  13. Also having a set rotation from start that can give us quality starts will enhance our ability to jump ahead from get go.
  14. I honestly think Hanley comes back....contract is too big to move him.... If we do nothing, keep the line up the same, we just need to plug in Encarnacion for Ortiz...plug in Swihart and Young in left, Holt become super sub, Shaw at 3B....hope for little improvement from each player to compensate for losing Ortiz. Sandy and Vazquez behind the plate.
  15. okay, Kimmi, that's hitting a guy below the belt...
  16. July 18th per MLB Traderumors "The Red Sox, Rangers, Orioles, Blue Jays and Dodgers are all expected to be in the bidding for Athletics ace Rich Hill, as are the Tigers, who have been calling around and asking about rotation upgrades, per Passan. The A’s, however, haven’t been willing to hold any meaningful talks about Sonny Gray, whose stock is at a low point right now in the wake of some highly uncharacteristic struggles. Passan also notes that Josh Reddick is “very unlikely” to reach an extension with Oakland at this juncture, though if the A’s were really only open to a three-year deal even as recently as July 9, I’d contend that it was never really a possibility in the first place." Are we still after Hill?
  17. Per MLB Traderumors "Clubs that were pursuing Brad Ziegler were stunned by what the D-backs accepted in exchange for him, according to both Passan and Peter Gammons of the MLB Network (links to Twitter). Passan writes that the Guardians, Blue Jays and Cubs all expressed interest in Ziegler and were all met with asking prices of Top 100-type or even Top 50-type prospects in return. Arizona, however, acquired a pair of prospects that weren’t nearly that well regarded in return. One NL GM who spoke to Gammons wondered if Dave Dombrowski’s close relationship with Tony La Russa impacted the negotiations." Good for DD
  18. He reminds me too much of tommy 'payne' layne...production wise
  19. I just missed him.....I'm old...I can't remember everything off top of my head...lol He has much right as Pedey to be included....the point I wanted to make was signing Encarnacion and a starting pitching depth will cement our success for next several years. We maybe able to get away with doing neither but I think we'll have the resources to make it happen.
  20. I think the Pomeranz deal was made not only for this year but for next two years. I have a feeling he'll be with us for awhile. We're definitely competing for 2016, 2017 and 2018 playoffs.
  21. Peavy was acquired due to Clay Buchholtz getting 'hurt'.....come to think of it, Clay has COST US a FREAKING TON...it's always covering up for the guy.
  22. I just can't believe we wasted 25 freaking starts on Kelly in 2015....AND we still didn't know what we were going to get out of him...
  23. I agree.....no offense to 30/40 somethings on the board here, but in DD we have a grown up running the baseball side of things
  24. Trade Pedroia. Fire Farrell. Put Buchholz on waivers well played sir.....at least you're upfront about it!
