Pom says for you to become a Padre fan, or maybe Phillies fan for all you naysayers.
DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Drew Pomeranz said he felt something click on the mound during his third spring training appearance on Friday and expects to be ready to pitch out of the Red Sox rotation when the regular season begins.
The lefty was struggling in the first two innings, when he allowed three runs on five hits against the Blue Jays, but said everything changed for him between the second and third inning.
“From the last start to this one I kind of finally figured out my mechanics, what I need to work on,” said Pomeranz, who exited early from his previous start due to triceps tightness. “The first couple innings today I felt better, more like myself, but something was a little off. I just wasn’t getting off my back side at all. Everything else was good position, I just couldn’t get off my backside. Then the warm-ups before the third inning, it clicked. I was able to repeat everything and it was just a different game out there.
“I was out there shaking my head like, ‘You got to be (joking) me.’ That how it always happens. One pitch.”
Pomeranz finished the third and fourth inning without allowing another hit. He then threw 15 pitches in the bullpen.
"As long as there are no setbacks in this time, he should be on time (to start the year),” manager John Farrell said before the game. “That’s how we're feeling.”
ALL HE NEEDED WAS ONE PITCH TO GET BACK TO THE ALL STAR LEVEL....IMAGINE THAT!
