Devers walked twice last night. Will they start to pitch around him in AA? I trust DD to do the right thing. He's on record as saying jump from AA to majors is not unthinkable. I can't believe I'm saying this but maybe Holt will lend stability to the situation while Pablo rehabs.

What's the downside of playing Devers? Unless DD is thinking about trading him, I'd say nothing. If he struggles, send him back down. Please spare me of hurting his confidence, etc. If he's that weak mentally, then he'll never make it.

Kimbrel last pitched Tuesday and Wednesday. He's going on a three days rest. Desperation? I'm f***ing glad you're not coaching my team. How about playing with sense of urgency FROM TIME TO TIME? We had completely outplayed the Twinkies but were in danger of losing the series to them. It would have been a devastating loss. Blame? How about our big wuss Matt Barnes? Gives up a walk off homer the previous game, comes in and gives up a homer and two walks. My high school baseball coach saved our ace for the second game on a Saturday during a state tournament. Well WTF, the second game never came. We got bombed 11-9 in the morning game. 10 Run outburst may never came had we gotten behind in the 8th. Oh but wait, we'd have fresh Kimbrel, now with FIVE f***ING days of rest going into Milwaukee. As it turned out, we needed strikeouts and we got it. Kimbrell never had to go back out for outs four, five and six.

I don't want to trade him. That said, I also am aware that he's a BorASS client. That's a reason enough to be concerned about JBJ and Xander. I'd also like to think that had JBJ been in the lineup, Beni would have made two plays in OF that Young didn't. The line drive right at Young and the fould ball that Young couldn't quite get to. Young obviously had to be in because we need offensive lift right now.

Not long ago, JF decided NOT to use Kimbrel in a four out situation. He said it was too early in the season. (isn't it all about pitch count anyway?) Today he was using Kimbrel to get the last five outs. Kimbrel got the first two outs in the 8th (final outs) and held the lead. Final three outs became irrelevant as Sox put up 10 runs in the 9th. Every game should matter. The game he refused to put Kimbrel in count just as much as this game. Our backs were up against the wall. We had outplayed the Twinkies. I get it. Just wished he was more consistent. Had JF not put in Kimbrel to hold the lead, the 9th inning outburst may not have happened. JF did the right thing. Why can't he be as smart as I?

Maybe Hanley won't take three strikes this time....

This game must mean more to JF. I recalled earlier he didn't want bring Kimbrel in for 4 outs situation. Hmmmm.

What would you ask for in return? And can you get it? Betts and JBJ are under contract for three more years after this year and five more years for Beni. Right now, outfield is not the area where I would focus on. Admittedly it's frustrating to wait for his hot streak to come around. We need to address our 3B situation until Devers is ready to take over. I can see a blockbuster trade this off season if by chance we miss the playoffs or are eliminated in the wild card playoff. DD will not sit idly by. Oh by the way, firing JB will be the first move if we don't make the playoffs.

Positives Starting rotation Sale is better than advertised. Based on where they were at beginning of spring training, both E Rod and Pomeranz has pitched well. Porcello, good news is he can only get better than he's been. Price seems to be on his way back. Relief Kimbrel is pitching the way we expected him to pitch last year after coming over from San Diego. Barnes has established himself as the 8th inning guy until further notice. Kelly has shown signs of returning to his form of second half from last year. Hembree appears to be a solid major leaguer. Carson Smith may return in June. Position Players. Hanley had similar April as last year. Perhaps he'll warm up much sooner than he did in 2016. Moreland has been a good buy at $5M. But he's a $5M rental. You get what you pay for. Beni has continued to hit as predicted. Xander is hitting for high average. Betts had a slightly better April than last year. He'll get hot soon. Our catchers our playing well defensively. Although the throw last night by Vazquez was just stupid. Bradley is playing stellar defense. Just not sure about 3B situation right now. I can see slump coming for both our catchers, not just one. Pedey just looks broken to me. I will always give him an A for effort. Bradly needs to go into his patented streaks, the other way.

I'm hoping he can join the big league team after the All Star game. He needs to stick and that will be the end of Pablo at 3B. With buy option, what a waste of $100M. Hell they could have given me the money and I'd promise to pay another player $90M to replace Pablo. Everybody wins.
