  1. 1 walk in 12 innings for Sox pitchers
  2. Hello....welcome to Fenway Chris Sale. How can you not like this guy.....works fast. All business.
  3. Pomeranz improves Per Boston Herald After throwing 90 pitches Monday in a minor league game at the spring training site in Fort Myers, Drew Pomeranz is on track to make his season debut on Sunday in Detroit against the Tigers. Pomeranz (left forearm flexor strain) is on the 10-day disabled list, and a roster spot would need to be opened ahead of his activation. The Red Sox haven’t officially made a decision yet, but Farrell said on MLB Network Radio yesterday that Pomeranz’ outing was encouraging and “things are pointing in the right direction for Drew.” Pomeranz’ velocity was in the high 80s during spring training, but Farrell said it was in the low 90s in this week’s work. He averaged 92 mph in a 2016 split between the San Diego Padres and the Sox, but late-season elbow issues prompted him to receive a stem-cell shot in his arm in the offseason.
  4. Pomeranz unsure Drew Pomeranz is getting closer, but the Sox won’t say if he’ll be ready to start the sixth game of the season Sunday in Detroit against the Tigers. The lefty is dealing with a forearm strain after receiving a stem-cell injection in his balky elbow during the offseason. He threw six innings against minor leaguers in Fort Myers yesterday. If he isn’t ready to pitch Sunday, Kyle Kendrick likely will get the start. “There was an uptick in overall stuff, so it was an encouraging day for him,” Farrell said. “We have yet to discuss what the next step is. But for what he set out to do work-wise, he was able to accomplish that.” Don't we play to win? If he's not 100%, he shouldn't be pitching. We can't use this as an exhibition game just to benefit Pom. We got healthy Kendricks. Let him pitch. He's at least shown that he can locate his pitches.
  5. In the seventh inning, he gave up a ground ball to the right of Xander, not sure if it would have been an out if Moreland dug up the ball. Next batter barely made it to the Green Monster. If Beni was 6-2 he may have caught it. Porcello came out after that but he pitched like an ace today. And FREAKIN' SALE IS UP NEXT.
  6. He just never looks confident....a big guy with small presence on the mound....
  7. who needs Clay when we have Kimbrel.....unpredictable? you got it. Absolutely worst pitch call with two strikes to a lefty....just freaking elevate the 0-2 pitch. Here's a statistical fact Porcello 223 IP 32 BB Kimbre 53 IP 30 BB He's definitely exciting to watch....he always gets my blood pressure up.
  8. I miss my teenage pimples.
  9. Okay, the cheap guy that I am, I waited until last minute to get the mlb package for the Sox. 2 hrs and 21 minutes til the kickoff....oops, first pitch.
  10. We're #1, we're #1....
  11. I'm leaning towards NOT LIKING both Kimbrel and Pomeranz trades but DD did what he thought was best for Red Sox. I just can't fault him for that.
  12. If I'm going into my first winter meeting after finishing dead last 3 out of 4 seasons, I'm going to make sure I address two urgent needs, starting pitching and a closer. Anything you bring up at this point is irrelevant because YOU don't know what was available at the time and at what COST. It's all Monday morning quarterbacking because any trade YOU MAY have proposed may not have been doable.
  13. Lester has pretty strong outing, 5 innings, 1 run so far (left 2 runners on base, his responsibility). He did throw 102 pitches. 1-0 Cardinals.
  14. Beware of Boras clients
  15. 7year $153M for Jacoby Ellsbury, 4 years left on the contract. We sure dodged a bullet.
  16. Per Boston.com...10 takeways from Red Sox 10. They haven’t gained on Cleveland The Guardians are the team the Red Sox need to catch in the American League, after Cleveland finished a game ahead of Boston, sweeping the Sox in the Divisional Series, and capturing the pennant. But even with the addition of Sale, the Red Sox don’t seem to have made any ground on the Tribe. The Guardians team that eliminated the Sox was missing Carlos Carasco and Danny Salazar, two starters with the potential to be among the AL’s better arms. They added slugger Edwin Encarnacion to the heart of their order, and they’re also awaiting the return of former All-Star Michael Brantley. Especially with the uncertainty surrounding Price and Thornburg, it’s hard to say Boston is better than it was last October. For the reigning AL champs, though, making that case is fairly easy. These guys actually get paid for this? I don't give a damn what anyone says. I feel much better knowing that Sale will start two games vs White Sox if it comes to that. Are you kidding me? Why doesn't he ask the White Sox hitters? See what they think. Sale has the highest ceiling among our starters in a short playoff series. I know that Moon is with me on this.
  17. Ben Taylor emergence out of 'nowhere' is more of what we need. Yeah this maybe a temporary promotion but he earned a shot.
  18. When was the last time we did not have to 'buy' a closer? Someone needs to step up. Other teams have guys that stepped in to the closer role. Really looking forward to Carson Smith coming off DL.
  19. Thanks to Rutledge injury, Selsky on opening day roster.....yes!
  20. Well, someone will have to pick up at least a portion of 33 starts for Price (I get it that you said assuming 100% healthy). It would be great if that's Wright/Pomeranz but I'm not counting on it. Kendrick will get a look. I know most of you here want to discount ST stats but I'm encouraged by our offensive output. Pedy, Beni, Betts, Xander, Bradley Jr, Pablo, Hanley and Moreland have all hit during spring. Sandy may be coming around. This will be fun team to watch. I don't see us getting to 100 wins. 96 tops.
  21. Pom has not had one decent outing....he needs to pitch in a minor league game. I want to see if Kendrick is real or not. Give him one start.
  22. At almost 19, he has the look of a major league pitcher. He throws strikes. His change up needs work but he can throw his curve for strikes. He has movement on his fastball so I don't think speed will be critical, although I fully expect it to improve.
  23. I doubt he's physically peaked at near 19th birthday.
  24. If they're not careful, he'll end up needing surgery this summer and he'll be out until 2019.
  25. Sox up 6-0 after top half of 1st....Betts and Bradley jr both homers. Rutledge looks to have come out for a pinch hitter. Not sure if he's hurt going from 1st to 3rd. This one is in the bag. Wright is pitching. I don't give him enough credit. He's good when he's got it going. No one really wants to screw up his swing hitting against him. I have a feeling we'll see Kendrick early, like in April. Wright gets out of bases loaded jam in bottom of second. Two walks.....usually his achilles heel. 3 clean innings now. 12 innings and no runs given up. Wright went 4 innings and 41 pitches last time out. See where he ends up today. Gee another good news....Rutledge with pulled hamstring....let's just not play anymore games.
