Our hitters are cure for whatever ails mediocre pitchers.....Do we really want to pay Betts $30M per year?

I think Kimbrel decision should be a closed topic by now. What if fictional Sox closer had blown few saves this year? Fans would be screaming. We don't win the Division without Kimbrel this year. Loved the Sale trade, would do it every time. What's incredible is that we did in a roundabout way 'saved' some of $60M we spent to sign Moncada by getting a discount (read lower Sale's SALARY). I'm sure Henry is pleased.

Doesn't Moon also have to account for the draft pick we would have lost had the Sox signed Kimbrel as a FA? So it's not FA money plus prospectS. It's prospects less first round pick, no?

At least it's not a $9M guaranteed contract with another $4M in incentives....Masterson? We piss away money like my teenage daughter. She actually told me to go to a bank machine when I told her I didn't have any money. I think she was 6 at the time. Ben got two credit cards and maxed out both in couple of days.

They were less concerned about him throwing off the mound than being able to run and making cuts. What if he has to cover a bunt and make a quick pivot on a throw to first...that sort of things.

To me, Hanley looks to be hurt. I hope the Sox hang on to Travis. Let him play 1B and give Moreland some rest at DH. I like that combo.

The downturn in production of Ramirez this year -- his slugging percentage is just .405 -- suggests that perhaps Moreland and youngster Sam Travis could coexist on the Red Sox roster next season and beyond. I agree. Let's not wait until we're falling in standings to do something about it. Do something now. 3B is a definite problem. Quit wasting time on Pablo. Don't be a nice guy. We're here to win. I always go back to the theory that you have 25 MEN using up one of their precious seasons. You can't simply derail that because you want to be a nice guy for ONE player. You owe it to other 24. I would give Devers a quick look before doing anything else. If he fails and if he can't handle that, then he's not a major league material. Find out what he's made of . Anyone here think Moncada is FINISHED as a major leaguer because what happened when he was called up?

JFC, talk about a wall flower.....I didn't know he was such a drama queen. To John F., it maybe TRUE what you said, but can you come up with a better excuse? The real culprit is the object sitting on top of his shoulders.

Basically we have one reliable starting pitcher. Wheels can come off at any minute. 3B MUST BE FIXED.

Sandoval appears to be all or nothing type right now and his all is sadly average at best. I hate his plate discipline. He doesn't hit the ball, rather the ball hits the bat. He just looks so non athletic playing 3B. You are correct, he can't be trusted. He just needs to go at some point.

Speaking of rotation......where would this team be without Sale? Or Kimbrel? Or Moreland? Not having Shaw has stung but we had to give Pable one more look, didn't we?

Per Sox Prospects Player of the Night: A grand slam from Bryce Brentz is the latest chapter in the outfielder's scorching June. Brentz now has nine home runs over his last 23 games, with 14 walks and 14 strikeouts over his last 80 at-bats. Brentz is hitting .345 in June as he continued to lead the PawSox offense. Can he become the cheap replacement for Young in 2018?

Hanley had 610 or so plate appearances in 2016. He needs 1050 combined for 2017/2018 seasons to force Sox into picking up his option for 2019. He SHOULD be motivated to see the field every chance he gets. He just seems injury prone these days. I'm at a point I'm praying he fails to reach 1050 plate apperances. Ben really f***ed up with Pablo/Hanley (remember for him to play left field?) signings. What we can do with $40M right now. How many of us get to keep our jobs for royal screw up?

Porcello says he knows what's wrong but has been unsuccessful fixing his problem....whatever that is. This is getting serious. It's not about depth but it's about quality depth. E Rod returning would be a big help. I just hate to make another trade and empty out the farm again. We must keep Devers and Travis. They can give us 6 years of team control at corner positions. Moon what do you think of trading Hanley after the season (maybe eat half of his contract) and re signing Moreland for 2 years at $20M to primarily DH and play some 1B? Or is that an overpay?
