  1. I always appreciate your thoughtful threads. Me, I'm more like a little kid, always whining and throwing tantrums.
  2. We now have 5 solid starters plus Johnson tucked away in AAA. We don't need a starter. And I'm not sure Bartolo Colon and Pomeranz are comparable pitchers. Give me another name and I will consider it.
  3. You have to read the entire paragraph....otherwise you're missing my point
  4. It's almost similar to deciding whether to receive social security check at age 62 or wait until you turn 66, at much higher amount. Advantage goes to the guy that's drawing at 62 for first three or four years but.... On the other hand, you can also drop dead at 65 and receive NOTHING. Not that you would care because you are dead. The point is Pom's last two starts have giving the Sox TWO WINS. Last I checked, Espinoza had not won a damn thing. There you go. And for Kimmi's gang, if I die before 2021, I won't have to go over the cliff with you all.
  5. Per Moon......We go freaking' Chris Sale! He's having a great impact on our pitching staff, especially Pom and E Rod I believe. It's very interesting to note both Pom and E Rod have gone through similar experiences. Due to knee injury, E Rod was ineffective at the beginning of last season. If you recall, he relied almost exclusively on two pitches. It was not until he was sent down and recalled that he looked to be much stronger (over the knee injury?). His fastball had more life and he finally started throwing his third pitch effectively. Same thing now with Pom. The message seem to be that Pom was afraid throw the cutter thinking that would put undue stress on his throwing arm. Similarly to E Rod, he can't be effective with just two pitches. At least they have both shown glimpse of higher ceiling pitchers as a #4/#5 rotation guys. (I'm not discounting the fact that E Rod may be much better than that). Two Cy Young award winners along with one of top pitchers from last five years: well our starting five looks formidable.
  6. No but it's a start!!!!!
  7. We have an option on Kimbrel next year. Pom is really picking it up. 2 more years of team control. Need Carson Smith to fully recover.
  8. 7 innings, 0 walks......for me, that walk # is becoming best predictor of success
  9. I mean "bullpen" as in #6 starter....sorry
  10. wow so you disagree with dd and jf and the entire organization that thinks travis can hit at major league level? What the f*** was sox thinking looking for a one year fill year. Give me a freaking break moon.
  11. Looks like our starting rotation is settling. Sale, Price, Porcello, Pomeranz and E Rod. Johnson in the 'bullpen'. Injuries aside, this group has much more upside to get, especially Pomeranz and Pocello. Porcello really took off in July last year, and maybe Pomeranz has finally discovered his third pitch, cutter to go along with his fast ball and knuckle curve. And obviously getting nothing previously from Price, things can only get better. Now waiting patiently for the return of one Carson Smith. Because we ain't gettin' nothin' from Thornburg. Milwaukee says thank you Boston.
  12. It's good to see Sam Travis getting off to a good start. He's definitely a major league hitter. It's more than likely that he will get sent down at some point but he's shown that he can handle major league pitching. Sox thinks he can be a full time 1B in time. Another quality player with 6 MORE years of team control. As an IU grad that watched him play couple times, I didn't think he would be up this quick.
  13. This has been a frustrating season with all the injuries. Thornburg injury is still puzzling to me. We will need Carson Smith to get back to his 2015 season. I don't believe we have that set up guy for 8th inning. Kelly, Hembree and Barnes have all shown they can do it from time to time but not consistently.
  14. Beni, 8 for his last 58.....ugh
  15. Beni has replaced Pedroia as the double play king.
  16. JBJ, Betts and Beni form a special defensive OF trio. If our pitching staff had any say in the matter, none of them would be traded. JBJ is also able to generate some power. He hits hard. Keep in mind that JBJ and Betts are under team control for additional 3 years, Beni for another 5. Yeah, lets move on from this thread.
  17. Nice game by Johnson.....I doubt he's this good but he looked to be much better option as a #6. He threw 85 strikes out of 109 pitches.
  18. Yeah lets trade JBJ!!!!
  19. Will she get reimbursed for dry cleaning or new outfit?
  20. He threw 85 Freakin' Strikes out of 109 pitches.
  21. Johnson is really looking good. Good command of his pitches. You wonder how HE gets swing and misses but Kelly throwing 100 mph can't.
  22. He did run through the stop sign. But watching the replay, WHY DOES THE 3B coach come down the line and wave his arm frantically signaling to run for the 3B runner. I've seen it before. It's confusing. 3b coach should simply focus on the runner on 2B. Not an excuse but ....................... There was an article recently about running and Pedroia was rated the worst on the Sox.
  23. I'm with Moon on this. 1) I have no doubt he's a great guy. And baseball and health are two different issures. HE NEEDS TO QUIT PLAYING COMPLETELY UNTIL HE'S FULLY RECOVERED. I read that he's still going to take BP, infield, etc. Just not play competitively. I believe that's ********. He needs to get better. You can't f*** around with head injury. I don't think anyone wants Holt to be suffering. Just get him well. Jesus, he's still a young kid. His long term health is more important than anything else. The lights, the noise during games, none of that can be good for his recovery. 2) I just think he's a mediocre player. Just because he can play 1B doesn't mean I want him as Sox 1B. Sam Travis is better. Just because he can play OF doesn't mean I want him in OF. He's not the 2nd option, long term at any position. Geez I like the guy. We are strictly talking about baseball talent.
  24. Not sure how he will get 'better'. Obviously if Pom can pitch the way he did the other day that will ease the pain of having to pitch Price. I wonder if will require a surgery with one slight injury.
  25. We need for E Rod to step up this year. As I've mentioned before, this year corresponds to Lester's breakout year he had as a young Sox hurler. As with most young pitchers, it's all about control and locating his pitches for E Rod. Then we can wait patiently on Groome to arrive around 2020 Here's my post from April 7th...I'm limited to 5 articles per month or something on bostonglobe.....it sucks.
