  1. It's pretty frustrating," Pomeranz admitted. "I got out of the first bases loaded one (in the fourth), and then I got taken out in the next bases loaded one (during the fifth). Obviously you want to get out of all those situations and stay in there and stay in the game as long as I can. But it's part of the game." Is he really this stupid?
  2. it's a f***ing fake hustle. He is always looking to make the spectacular play. Only thing spectacular about him is that he has the lowest baseball iq in the majors.
  3. My choice is drafting college pitchers. With pending arrival of 'cliff', we need starting pitchers that can be ready in couple of years. Five solid starting pitchers are a must. Devers at 3B, Travis at 1B, we just need a veteran outfield depth which can be picked up on the cheap. Please do not draft a player that you already know is hurt, Keston Hiura, diminutive hitter that does not have a true position that may require elbow surgery.
  4. I agree. You can not keep Pablo on the bench for next three years. He must be traded even if we have to eat his contract. There's really no end game for him with the Sox. His presence can only create negative clubhouse, and AT THE POINT, it doesn't have to be his creation. It just becomes uncomfortable for everyone else.
  5. The key hit last night was Moreland's double. 5 runs in the 8th essentially became meaningless from winning perspective. Not sure how you would capture that statistically.
  6. What I hate most is that because of ineptitude of Pablo, we are forced to play/keep someone like Marrero. He does not belong on a world championship team. There has to be an upgrade somewhere in the organization. Can we afford to sign Moreland and give him some at bats backing up Travis and Hanley? This of course assumes letting go of Young. Can we afford to go over the luxury limit next year knowing we won't keep everyone after 2018 season, thus the penalty may not be as severe? Moon? Devers must be given every opportunity to succeed in 2018. Let him bat 9th and have him focuse on improving defense. His offensive tools are there. Betts, Beni, JBJ, Travis, Pedroia, Xander, Devers, Hanley, Vaz/Leon......Moreland, Hernandez, Rutledge, OF Sale, Price, Porcello, E Rod, Pom Kimbrel, Thornburg, Smith, Kelly, Barnes, Hembree, Scott Pretty solid 25
  7. BOSTON - Carson Smith threw his second living batting practice session on Saturday and is nearing a minor-league rehab assignment. The Red Sox reliever has been making steady progress since Tommy John surgery in May 2016.
  8. I agree. No way we should give away our top prospect for a mediocre veteran. I like Rutledge. He's a solid hitter. We need to stay with the plan. Dynamics of this team will improve when Carson Smith returns. Our pen will be rock solid if he's able to return to form. Kelly, Barnes, Smith and Kimbrel looks to be decent relay team for closing out games. You still have Scott to face that one left hander along with Hembree. We need for Betts and Hanley to step up their games. Bradley Jr is turning things around. If those three hit, Rutledge is doable at third. (And maybe we'll get Holt back at some point) My biggest concern right now is our starting rotation.
  9. Our two best players right now are Sale and Kimbrel. Moreland seems adequate. What would be the recovery time for E Rod if he has a surgery in October?
  10. We'd be 1st in slugging if we played in 5' 8" and under league.
  11. After all said and done, we are only 2 games behind the Yankees. It's frustrating from standpoint of all the injuries we've had, I will do a backflip when our rotation goes through 3 or 4 times without anyone missing a start. Gettin back Carson Smith will be huge.
  12. The catcher made a crappy throw to third trying to pick off Moreland and two runners scored. Do you have more than one baby that need changing? I smell another diaper change.
  13. You should just stick to basketball.
  14. Throwing to 2nd is the normal play unless the runner took off on the pitch. Bottom line is that Pedroia would have covered 2B.
  15. Did I miss the memo on it's ok to get thrown out if we score?
  16. I always appreciate your thoughtful threads. Me, I'm more like a little kid, always whining and throwing tantrums.
  17. We now have 5 solid starters plus Johnson tucked away in AAA. We don't need a starter. And I'm not sure Bartolo Colon and Pomeranz are comparable pitchers. Give me another name and I will consider it.
  18. You have to read the entire paragraph....otherwise you're missing my point
  19. It's almost similar to deciding whether to receive social security check at age 62 or wait until you turn 66, at much higher amount. Advantage goes to the guy that's drawing at 62 for first three or four years but.... On the other hand, you can also drop dead at 65 and receive NOTHING. Not that you would care because you are dead. The point is Pom's last two starts have giving the Sox TWO WINS. Last I checked, Espinoza had not won a damn thing. There you go. And for Kimmi's gang, if I die before 2021, I won't have to go over the cliff with you all.
  20. Per Moon......We go freaking' Chris Sale! He's having a great impact on our pitching staff, especially Pom and E Rod I believe. It's very interesting to note both Pom and E Rod have gone through similar experiences. Due to knee injury, E Rod was ineffective at the beginning of last season. If you recall, he relied almost exclusively on two pitches. It was not until he was sent down and recalled that he looked to be much stronger (over the knee injury?). His fastball had more life and he finally started throwing his third pitch effectively. Same thing now with Pom. The message seem to be that Pom was afraid throw the cutter thinking that would put undue stress on his throwing arm. Similarly to E Rod, he can't be effective with just two pitches. At least they have both shown glimpse of higher ceiling pitchers as a #4/#5 rotation guys. (I'm not discounting the fact that E Rod may be much better than that). Two Cy Young award winners along with one of top pitchers from last five years: well our starting five looks formidable.
  21. No but it's a start!!!!!
  22. We have an option on Kimbrel next year. Pom is really picking it up. 2 more years of team control. Need Carson Smith to fully recover.
  23. 7 innings, 0 walks......for me, that walk # is becoming best predictor of success
  24. I mean "bullpen" as in #6 starter....sorry
