How's Joe Kelly doing?
12 Games, 8.31 ERA, 0-3 in converting saves...13 IP, 20 hits, 12 R/ER, .351 BA...
Yeah, he would have helped us...3 yr/25M, $8.3M CBT payroll..yikes
Kimmi is always right....don't spend on relievers.
Chavis has basically hit himself into the lineup. Obviously this would not have happened without Pedey injury.
He needs to stay in the lineup. I don't care how you work it.
We are 6 games behind. It's definitely not a panic time but Chavis has earned regular at bats.
It would be nice to place 8 position players at their best positions.
But as a coach, I want my 'best' eight on the field.
"Best" meaning the group that gives us the best chance to win. I have no problems moving Devers under that scenario.
Chavis' offensive prowess thus far has overshadowed any perceived defensive shortcomings he exhibits.
I'm a happy camper. First thing first, climb back up to .500 ball.
I'm always glad to see youngsters move up. I threw my kids in the water.....swim or sink is my philosophy. No worries, all my kids are alive by the way.
Tyler Thornburg needs to go. He just doesn't have it.
I've been impressed with Walden. A 3 inning stint with one hit given up, no walks and 3 strikeouts. He's probably in line for his fourth win.
JBJ's value goes up if our staff is pitching well. If April becomes the norm, then we need to upgrade our offense. We're pretty much stuck with our rotation for next 4 years.
We're kind of stuck with our starting rotation for time being but I think they'll all come around. I'm still glad that we signed Eovaldi and extended Sale.
We do need someone from the farm to step in for Porcello next year.
Chatham can play other positions. There's already talk of him playing 2B.
Sox staff wants to put best players on the field. They've done that with Chavis playing 2B. Some here thought there's no way he can play 2B.
I can see a line up
C Vaz
1B Devers
2B Chavis
SS Xavier
3B Dalbec
LF Chatam
Or some combination. I'm not hung up on who plays where. It's getting the best players on the field.
Many here doubted Devers and still do. I think he's here to stay.
Some think we've rushed Chavis. Hell, he's 23 years old. I also think he's here to stay.
This is one way of getting the team payroll down.
Devers is under team control for 5 years, Chavis for 7 years counting current season.
I think we all want home grown talent to succeed.
I want to stay positive. Assuming we bring back JD Martinez, we still have a two year window before Betts departs.
Our bullpen is holding steady.
Our starters as a group is pitching somewhat better. Obviously it can't get much worse.
Betts bat is beginning to heat up.
Xander is always steady.
JD is our best pure hitter.
But for me the best has been the emergence of Chavis. Getting an opportunity to play 1B yesterday tells me that he's here to stay. He can play multiple positions. He can DH when JD plays in outfield.
He can play 1B when Pearce/Moreland are struggling. Obviously he can play 2B.
I would guess he'll get to play 3B soon when Devers needs a rest.
Chatham is off to a hot start. Maybe we'll see him in September.
Are we better off with or without Devers? I'd say yes. We need to add one starting position player/starting pitcher each year from the farm.
Recently we've had E Rod, Beni, Devers and now Chavis.
I'm all about succession plan.
I'd expect to see Chatham, Hernandez, Feltman and Dalbec in the bigs by September 2020.
No offense but are you NUTS?
We owe Nunez $5M.
We owe JBJ $8.55M.
We owe Pearce $6.25M.
Do you think we can recoup that money in a trade?
JBJ should be moved/traded when he gets hot the next time.
Now your other thoughts are worth considering.

Ryan Brasier ($577,500), in the starring role of CLOSER.
Kimmi says "How do you like them apples?"
I'm okay with Sandy catching.
But can we not over valuer his pitch calling? Starters still need to hit the spots.
You'd think Rick would be pitching a perfect game with Sandy behind the plate.
Should we not look to see where the highest ceiling maybe at each position within the organization?
Obviously it's not Lin. He's our next Brock Holt, at best.
Why not try Chavis? He came up as a shortstop. We're asking him to be adequate 2B. You know, just make routine plays.
I applaud the team for turning over every rock looking for an edge.
If Pedey does not come back, I can see Chatham getting a shot at 2B.
Dead last in ERA for starters, 2 runs worse than #29 White Sox.
When it comes to our starting pitching.....
We're dominantly worst.
We have the worst locked up.
Not even close.
It's Secretariat in reverse at the Belmont Stakes.
They're the Washington Generals of starting rotation.
Not one, but two fat ladies are singing.
